Amazon Affiliate and Amazon Pro Merchant: Conflict of Interest?

Hi,

I am thinking of becoming a Amazon Affiliate, but I have never created a website or done any marketing whatsoever (but, I am currently studying the process). Furthermore, I am also currently working for Amazon as a merchant seller (I primarily sell books - real physical books, not Kindle books). The idea is that I would become an affiliate member and then promote my own items on Amazon. Does anyone know if this is allowed? I understand that selling your own kindle books through your own affiliate link is NOT allowed, but I'm not authoring any books and I'm selling actual physical products produced by someone else. Or actually, I could even just promote items that I don't sell on Amazon. Here are the 3 main questions:

1. Can I sell on Amazon as an affiliate and a merchant seller simultaneously?

2. If so, can I promote my own items listed on Amazon for Affiliate purposes? In other words, I get paid twice by Amazon (one for the book, one for the commission)?

3. If I cannot sell my own items, can I just promote other Amazon items in addition to selling my own?
