Will Original Content Used On Two Sites Be Penalized?

I am developing a blog network related to back pain. I have twenty niche sites which each focus on one topic each ie herniated discs, disc replacement etc. All twenty sites will point to my one major money site. Is there any problem with me putting the same original content that is on my niche sites on my main money site too?

Thanks for your help!

In my experience it's no problem at all. I often put the same (completely original) page up on more than one site.

      Let me ask you . . .

Why would you want the extra work of maintaining 20 niche sites when all the same content is going to be available on what you call your "money site?"

      Just wondering . . .

I was wondering the same. Why would you want to copy content from your niche site to your money site when the money site is what's going to make you money? I would just fore go all the niche sites in just concentrate on making my money site an authority in my niche.

What you are trying to do is called syndication and there is nothing wrong with that at all - provided you put a link back to the site where the original content is posted.

That is the distinction between syndication and duplicate content, where you steal content from other sites and try to pass it off as your own without crediting the source.

Syndication is also an effective link building strategy and if done right, can not only add depth and relevancy to your other sites, but can move you up quickly in the search engines.

Do the search engines realize you are syndicating and not duplicating? I'm just wondering how this may impact ranking the site.

I believe search engines consider the use of the same content on the same site as duplicate but not if the same content is used on different sites. So if you created the content yourself, you're not stealing it and may not need to give credit to some "original" source.

However, if that is not the case, you want to do what ((fenway2K)) outlined above.

QUESTION: I am interested in knowing why you find it more beneficial to have 20 sites or more linking in to your "money" site vs. just having one site that addresses all those issues?
