What is this site worth?

Several years ago...well actually almost 7 years ago I created thetoolsmith.com for the single purpose of promoting a myspace friend adder bot that I created. During the time before Facebook it did really well. I've been hanging onto the domain and site for several years but I think it's time to let it go

The site also had a forum (currently disabled) with 10k plus registered users interested in online marketing tools.

I know the adder isn't worth anything but are the 10k plus emails, and age of the domain worth anything?

If so what would be your estimate?

Thanks,
-Paul

The 10 k users on the forum are worthless because the forum is not up and running, Get it back running and that will add value.

The 10k emails did not opt in to whoever buys the site so they might not be of value, especially if purchaser was to turn the site into a power tool site

Is the site generating any income currently?

I would say a couple huntred bucks for the site, but, I would bet the URL would be worth more than the site

Very little from the affiliate twitter bot...maybe $20-$50 per month.

According to valuate.com, the domain is worth $430. Nice.

By now, these subscribers are no better than "cold" leads. But the bigger issue is that if they are sold, anyone purchasing your list has not been given specific permission to contact them.

I think your list is only valuable to you. If you want to try to resurrect it and give it new life, it could become an asset. You should expect many to unsubscribe or be "dead" addresses if you mail to them.

    Good luck,

Good domain name you got there. I agree with agmccall. The domain name would probably cost higher than the website itself. If you want to sell it at a higher value (as a website and not as a domain name), just make it work again and find a way to monetize it.

That URL could be a pretty good one, running up to $1K+. I don't know about the e-mail list...if you target the same niche, then yeah. If you're going for a different niche, it won't help your credibility to e-mail them something they didn't ask for.

Not worth much - impossible to put a value on something like this as it's really "as much as someone is willing to pay". I'd expect you could get 500 bucks quite easily just based on the income & aged domain.

Well, just like in any other type of business, you will still need to invest in something if you want something big in return. However, if you are already too desperate to get rid of the domain, just sell it to anyone who has the interest to buy it at a price that he suggests but at something you think is reasonable.

The site is probably worth $200 without the forum $300 with the forum and id say domain $100 - 200 not bad really.

I presume those emails are ex-forum members and not opt-ins? How about creating a new site/service, and emailing that list explaining what its about. Offer them something free for signing up. It could generate some interest and provide another income stream. You'll see how responsive that list is too. If you could get 1000 of that list onto a new list then I think you'll have done well.

You could always reopen the forum on the existing site and offer more paid services to that 10k list. I'm guessing it will be pretty cold considering the forum has gone.

As for the domain, I'll be honest, I was expecting a 'DIY/Work Tools' site, not an 'Internet Tools' site. That's just me though on seeing the raw URL. I associated it immediately with a 'Blacksmith'. I don't think its got any real value unless you can sell the software onto another vendor? I'd probably just keep it.

    Good luck anyway
