Ghosts and UFO niche?

Hi guys..

I'm a die hard fan of "ufo and true ghost stories".I'm planning to monetize from this niche.

Do you guys have any idea how to make money with this niche?I guess that the best way is by promoting affiliate programs.Well as far as I know Amazon.com has some nice products based on this niche but I'm looking for other affiliate programs that will pay me higher commissions.

Anyone here making money with this niche?

Any comments and tips are greatly appreciated!!

I don't know how you'd make money with this, other than selling related books (fiction and non-) and maybe related DVDs (movies or "documentaries").

Doesn't seem like a lot of money-making potential there, although I know there's a dedicated community of believers out there.

you might do well with it if you target it correctly... locate the states in US that are into that stuff and try out some Adwords and see how it converts... I hear the US who live near the desert are UFO fanatics... personally I think they're on something rather strong and are hallucinating

Hi ebizman87. I was also interested in this niche a while ago. My idea was to offer 'ghost hunting' certification. There are a few courses out there. Google 'ghost hunting course' or 'ufo hunting course'. A guy sells this stuff on eBay and does quite well.

    I hope that helps.

It's going to be a tough sell in this market imo.

There isn't much to offer them and of what there is, will many be interested in paying?

I'm very interested in the subject myself, but we're not desperate buyers.

Thanks for the input but I think that "curiosity" can do the selling for me on this niche.

Most of the documentaries are available to watch for free online so don't expect to earn a lot promoting DVD's.

Do some research and look through google at all of the sites ranking for your keywords, how are they monetizing the niche?

I suppose you could create an adsense site around the subject, the unusual stories which pop up in the niche would be great at generating traffic with bookmarks.

I just don't think the UFO and Alien niche is full of buyers, mainy browsers.

I have a site in this niche. I do well with Amazon selling ghost hunters dvd's and the occasional book on witchcraft or something like that. The real money starts to come in around Halloween when people are looking for costumes and things holiday related

The best way of making money with this niche is maybe offline. Organising small party trips to suspected haunted houses, UFO hotspots, Crop Circles etc...

Online...maybe setting up a blog and get readers to submit their weird stories (great free content :-) - have a book/video of the week review with your affiliate link and ebay (epn) listings of all the odd auctions available (there are tons...)

I've yet to meet a ghost or alien who had a valid credit card.

All the ghosts' ones have expired and the aliens' ones are in the wrong currency.

Until they sort this out I'm not going to market to them. There's not much point.

Having said that I could build a big list. (The money's in the list). Then when Earth finally joins the Inter-Galactic-Inter-Dimensional Monetary Fund, they will finally be in a position to pay, and I could cash in.

If aliens do visit, then does that mean that eventually there will be alien ghosts?

Brilliant, that sounds like a great sub-niche

There's a ton of royalty free content you can package up and resell. I used to see tons of CD's of this stuff being sold on eBay, so there's probably some market for it.

I'm sure you could make money from this niche if you monetized your sites well. A family member recently remarked to me that now that pretty much EVERYBODY has an instant camera available (on cell phones and blackberries and such), you don't hear anywhere NEAR as many of these UFO stories as you used to. After all, anybody who saw a UFO could get a picture of it right away and submit it to the entire Internet.

area 51, UFO, discovery channel & NGO have many of these. I watch them again, again, and again. it is really interesting. however, I do not like these guys in the show, too drama.

whether you can earn $ from it? well, I do not know. but I know there are many sites about these. probably, focus on one or two incidents will be better. not a broad concept, such as UFO. you need find the niche in UFO niche.

    just my wild guess.

I would think a lot of the stuff that would be sold would be joke kind of things. official ghost hunting ceritifications or diplomas from some kind of 'school'

sort of like the guys that sell plots of the moon or sells people their own star with name and plaque.

I think it could potentially be a pretty cool site, i'd definaley be intersted. I think like peopl have said Amazon may the way to go.

Maybe you could have a specific section of the site that's about tv shows - xfiles, etc. I know it's kinda straying away from the main theme of 'true stories' but you could have revies of shows, fact files (kinda like an imdb.com part of your site) linking to amazon where they can buy the product.

I'm sure there's thousands upon thousands of sites competing with you but very few from internet marketers who know about SEO ect so could be easy to get your site high up if you have enough content.

There's definitely money to be made in this niche...but it's not a get rich niche for sure. A little research on my part found one paranormal related product that has done quite well in Clickbank:

Unexplainable Store- Brainwave Entrainment Binaural Beats (90.38 gravity) - sells all sorts of MP3's related to paranormal stuff. Not all UFO and Ghost stuff, but the information on this site serves the same demographic and would probably sell on a site about Ghosts or UFO's.

The idea is that people interested in UFO's and Ghosts tend also to be interested in conspiracy theories, cryptozoology, medical cures/remedies, psychic info (there are tons of products to promote on this subject), 2012 prophecies, monster hunting (think Bigfoot, Lochness Monster, etc.), Remote Viewing, Near Death Experiences, Astral Travel and the list goes on and on.

This niche is absolutely HUGE. The most listened to syndicated late night talk radio show is Coast to Coast AM. It has 15-20 million listeners each night throughout the USA. If you want ideas for sites or articles, just look at the shows it does Shows - Coast to Coast AM.

If you want to see an example of a membership site in this niche that has done extremely well, go to Earthfiles.com Headline News. This site is run by a woman named Linda Moulton Howe. She has over a million visits per month to the site and as 1000's of paid subscribers who pay her $36 a year for stories.

If I were to tackle this niche (and I'm not currently in it), I would create some sites about UFOs or Ghost hunting and giveaway a free report on the subject to build a list. I would then focus on trying to sell products on the other subjects I mentioned above or maybe try to build my own cheap membership site like Earthfiles.com.

I was into ghosts and UFO's too... When I was a kid and had no money.

Check out existing competition and see how they're monetizing their sites. I checked out this niche some years ago and was underwhelmed with what was going on.

One thing for sure: it's very easy to get many hits on Youtube if you name your video "UFO caught on tape!"

Another way of monetising this niche is, when you have enough traffic, selling ad space on your site for other websites in this niche. I do it for blogs of my own that don't have a lot of affiliate products, I just contacted some site owner in the same niche (even for a site that sells physical products) and it's nice to have some money coming in on a regular basis this way.

    take care,

The founder of this forum Allen Says found the UFO niche to be profitable. In fact one of his very first products was on UFO Secrets. You should first use the Adwords Keyword Tool to see if people are paying $1.00 and up for clicks. That's a good indication of how profitable any niche is. I agree with what others have said about using Amazon for videos and books. There are a few products on ClickBank as well but I don't think the gravity is very high on them.

Back in 1978, my buddy and I witnessed the ghost (back view) of my ex's best friend, who had been killed a few years previously in a hit and run accident. Apparently we were not the only ones to hve seen/experienced strange going-on my ex's house (a fairly new house at that). This was in Leicestershire, UK

Both of us thought at the time that it was my ex's sister walking beside her (dressed in a white trouser-suit). It was only the next morning, after phoning my ex, that prompting my buddy for a pricise account on what he'd seen the previous night, that we realised what we'd seen.

OP; PM me if you'd like a full account!

I've got a heavily trafficked ghost pictures website. Most of my income is adsense with a smattering of clickbank thrown in. Adsense placement is key to the success since most go there just for the pictures

My mom is really into this stuff. She has tried many times to capture ghosts on tape, haha. It usually just freaks me out when she gets "something" - we used to live in a spooky house when I was younger.

I think a good way ("maybe") to making money (or alteast getting a TON of traffic)...

Make a "home ghost busters" kit. Some checklists, tools, ideas, tips and other things that teach people how to try and capture them on tape (video or photo) and things like that.

If you can't sell it, you can sure as heck get alot of traffic for it lol

    Thats for ghosts niche...

However, for the UFO niche. To get some traffic for that, setup some videos (webcams) going constantly in "hotspots" in you area. Any place that has reported to have 'sightings', and stream it online...24/7

NOW thats probably already done - cause I have seen "ghost webcams" things before, but heres where it can get interesting... Setup "inferred" video cams right beside the normal ones.

So people can see the normal view of the sky, and then a inferred version of it right next to each other... There is alot of stuff going on with that sort of thing.

I am not sure if this is useful or just things I wish were online, haha.

    High end idea...

Find & interview a bunch of known & local "ghost hunters" people like that. People who are HIRED to go into old houses and be all spooky and say shit like "Oh there is someone here.... who is angry" then get them to tell the listener how to be more recepitive to ghostly communications, etc.

Then even HIGHER END - would be to teach people how to become "ghost whisperers" and market their business. etc.

Again... these are just ideas I would be happy to see online.
