Hey folks,

Are we allowed to include the price of a product on our site/blog as an Amazon affiliate? I've heard different stories from past affiliates that you can't include it. I'm trying to find it in the policy but I don't see it anywhere.

Thoughts? Thanks.

I don't believe it's against their TOS, just remember, their prices are not fixed.

I don't recommend specifying the price on your website because it might change and you will annoy potential buyers. But, there are so many amazon wordpress plugins that get all the details about a product trough their API and also display the price, so I think they are OK with it.

Have you found a merchant that does not allow you to post their prices yet ?

I use an Amazon plugin that dynamically updates the prices daily so you don't have to worry about it. There are many similar plug ins on the market.

    Hey GGpaul,

like the warriors above have already said, you can use a wordpress plugin to get the job done for you and avoid upsetting anyone by having the wrong price on your website.

alternatively, you can use their astore (aStore for Amazon Associates) to do the same thing.

    peace

I think it's fine with Amazon as long as the prices are always up to date. Personally, I wouldn't recommend displaying prices.

I think the only downside with this is the prices ain't fix.
One item might have different prices due to little variations or features.

I'm not sure of Amazon not allowing people to add the price of item
on their site but you can send them a mail to clarify this issue.
    They respond in 12hrs..

Safe bet for me is I'll just go about without adding the prices.

How are you guys doing with Amazon? Where are you getting your traffic? Organic? PPC? E-mail list? Social Media?

I'm trying to dust off the web and get back to my business. It's been a while.

Ok, here ... but I started it "late", and it's only about 15-16% of my monthly income.

I do actually get some of that (it's about 20% of my traffic but produces only about 3% of my income, because it's dreadfully unresponsive compared with my other traffic, the bulk of which is article marketing traffic).

Natch. You don't make many affiliate marketing sales without opting in some of your traffic onto lists. (Call me a skepchick, but the people I see claiming to do very well on Amazon without listbuilding appear actually to be making their money by selling information about being an Amazon affiliate to newbie marketers, and maybe not so much from Amazon! ).

Is it a good idea to spend some time on building a mailing list ?

Whether you can or not ... don't.

For starters, your link is what sets the affiliate cookie - you want them to click that link so the cookie stays on their system.

Second, Amazon is the king of price testing - the price you show on your site won't necessarily be the price they see, even if you updated it that morning. Different users see different prices for products based on the other things they've looked at on Amazon.

      Got it.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to market. It's like I'm starting from scratch again. If anyone has any recommendations/guides I can take notes from let me know. Of course there's the warriorforum, but anything substantial would be great.

I was doing okay with Amazon a year ago, mainly organic. But then things started to slow down. Now I'm trying to figure out different traffic sources.

Yes indeed ... very wise. I think you need a primary traffic-source that isn't search engine traffic, to do really well out of this. And not to be worried about the risk of suddenly losing your traffic, too, through no fault of your own. Good luck and good wishes!

For sure thank you! The biggest question is can you "own" a business by monetizing through Amazon as an affiliate?

For instance, let's say I do social media integrated with my site. So now I'm branding my site. But....I don't seems kind of embarrassing if it's all just amazon. I mean I feel like I rather "own" the products instead of being an affiliate for Amazon if that makes sense. OR...I have a site that DOESN'T ONLY monetize through Amazon. Maybe that can work. HMM....

        Thoughts stirring. :p

Basically "branding" a site + implementing Amazon affiliate.

          I agree that's a question.

Much more so in America than elsewhere, I think, for now anyway ... because of all this business of Amazon suddenly stopping having affiliates in some states over something to do with taxes, or whatever it is? :p

The only "Amazon-only" sites I have are the two "silly ones" mentioned here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8613518

It never really occurred to me to have "Amazon-only" sites, when I started. I just wanted to diversify and not be dependent for nearly all my income on products sold by vendors who use ClickBank.

Anyway, I'm a full-time affiliate marketer, so I never think of my income in terms of "sites", to be honest, because it's the emails that produce the sales, not the sites.

To me, this seems a far better idea, in principle.

Sweet thanks for that. Yeah I can see Amazon-only sites working well for those low price high volume sites which I'll be aiming for soon. Hey, everything adds up .

But as far as "branding" goes I might take a different approach. We'll see. Thanks for the responses.
