Advice on Weight Loss niches?

Hi there,

I just made my new website about weight loss. I just want to ask some suggestions from you guys.
What do you think is the best? ClickBank offers (mostly selling stuffs) or CPA offers? (mostly credit card submits)
Which do you think converts most?

And if you think CPA offers converts more, please give me some CPA networks that has a lot of health/weight loss-related offers.
Thanks in advance!

Regards,
InstaMoney

You should make it specialty weight loss products that have nothing to do with Clickbank. These are the types of products that will pay you high commissions because they are physical products. Weight loss is a tough niche, because people are so jaded by the products they are being sold. What they want is something simple.

"Specialty weight loss products that have nothing to do with Clickbank"? Do you mean I shouldn't promote clickbank products? Then how can I earn money from this niche? I really don't get it.
      Please explain. Thanks!

There are so many weight loss and diet products available online. You don't have to restrict yourself to Clickbank for earning money. There's a huge refund issue with Clickbank too, where you might not end up getting your money.

Anyway, most dieters would be more willing to take a supplement as a quick fix than take time to read and learn weight loss techniques from an ebook.

On second thought, maybe if he added a weight loss coaching aspect to the Clickbank ebook/program, it would actually sell.

Though the CB products can pay high commissions with regards to weight loss products, I personally have had better success with Amazon and a few quality CPA companies.

As an reseller of a weight loss product as well as a affiliate marketer, I would caution you to several things. If you are a direct seller of the product, most do not allow selling on ebay or amazon type sites. Social media cpc to targeted audiences, building a list from twitter, facebook, google plus by talking to people in the area of weight loss is key! Lastly, having a one stop shop for multiple items can turn someone off immediately as it makes them feel like you are just out for the buck not to help them. Lots of weight loss products that compete, from the grocery store to the doctor to the online products. Not sure exactly your intent, to have a huge selling site or promote a particular product.

With HEALTH, CB may not be the right thing.

CPA offers? I'm not into this. I prefer to promote products like vitamins or natural remedies that pay me per sale. Amazon is one example (they pay 4%-8%)

THere are health networks you should be looking for on Google. Some are better than the others, and the payout is 25%. Better than Amazon IMO.

    Does it help?

When it comes to the weight loss niche, there are both tons of physical and digital products that you can promote. If I remember correctly, there are lots of weight loss products on the Pepperjam Exchange Network like P90X and related products. You'll also find some quality e-books and courses on Clickbank, but you need to do your research and possibly buy the product and try it out. When you do this, conversions tend to be high while keeping refunds low.

    Hi InstaMoney,

Look at these websites for products to promote -

Health and Beauty Affiliate Programs by MarketHealth.com

Sell Health Affiliate Program, The #1 Anti-Aging Affiliate Network

If you build your site to be a good source of fat loss information, you can promote a range of products to make money. It can be Clickbank products, CPA offers, Amazon products and if you build a quality list and build a good relationship with the list, you can even create and sell a quality information product to them.

Always build a list. That is the foundation pillar of an online business. Once you have people on the list, you can promote different offers and see what converts the best.

Keep testing various offers and types of offers (CPA, CB, Amazon, etc.) to see what works for your website and people on your list.

I agree with the list building advice. I'm just now building a list in the weight loss niche. I disagree with promoting products from MarketHealth.com, SellHealth.com and other similar companies because the FTC is coming down HARD on these types of offers.

I'm currently taking down a website that has killer reviews of every Market Health weight loss product. To me it's just not worth the risk. I'm going to write a full affiliate disclosure statement, compile them in a PDF, use the content as a free giveaway and tell people to buy at their own risk.

Also, regarding weight loss supplements, how can anyone give an honest review of multiple products? They can say that they compiled information from multiple locations online, but there's no way they can say that they tried them all themselves. That's simply not realistic. They'd have to be one seriously skinny (or sickly) individual. Testimonials, true or not, can get you in BIG trouble with these. That's why I chose to take my site down. I read a story about some guys in New York using false testimonials and getting hammered with multiple $11,000 fines from the FTC.

      No thanks!

I don't see any reason at all not to promote Clickbank products. At least those can be read and an honest review can be given, based on your personal opinion, of course. Amazon, Pepperjam, CJ, Shareasale and others all have weight loss products and fitness equipment.

I used to promote a lot of CPA offers in the weight loss niche, but in my opinion much of the CPA industry has gotten dirty, so I avoid them completely.

      Just my thoughts.

Thank you very much for your amazing replies! I really appreciate it.
I heard that the weight loss niche is really "tough". I heard this everywhere!

Honestly, as a newbie, I was really scared. I don't know if I should continue further.
Do you think it's okay to pursue this niche? Please give me any advice.
I'm really having a hard time
    Thanks!

This is why you should build a list. If you build a list in the weight loss niche (or just about any niche), the "scariness" of the niche starts to diminish. You won't have to worry too much about competition, SEO, and the other headaches that makes a niche so difficult.

That being said, it's vitally important that you build a QUALITY list if you want to do well. This means you have to provide a good experience for your subscriber from the time they reach your squeeze page/blog/etc. until they open up your future emails.

Well, having "weight loss" as your niche can be an advantage, but you might want to try engaging in a micro-niche of this. Also, if you think that you do not have enough interest in this niche and that you already having a hard time dealing with it now, there are only things that you can do now. You can research more about it and improve your knowledge or you can just switch to another niche, something that appears more interesting to you.

So you're saying that CPA offers are better than selling products? (ClickBank, Amazon, etc)
      Thanks!

I don't follow this reasoning at all, Robin? (Did you perhaps mean to say that they're the type of products that pay high commissions because they're digital products? Physical products typically pay smaller commissions, of course, partly because of the product-cost compared with a digital one, which has no real "product-cost" at all ).

In niches like this, CPA offers ought, in general, to convert overwhelmingly more than ClickBank products, but this isn't really comparing like with like at all, because some ClickBank products in this niche will pay the affiliate a $65+ commission (and a few even over $100) per sale.

That's almost entirely attributable to the affiliates and their pre-selling methods, though, not mostly to the products or the fact that ClickBank's the retailer. Products which have a high refund-rate across their entire range of affiliates are swiftly removed from the marketplace by ClickBank, because of course the cost of processing the refunds on the refunded copies outweighs their 7.5% profit on the unrefunded ones. Refund rates vary hugely between affiliates of the same products. Some affiliates get 10-15% refunded, others have fewer than 0.5% refunded, for the same product. The idea that they have high refund rates "because they're ClickBank products" is purely a myth.
