Social Media - Who's an expert?

We're currently working on the second issue of Internet Marketer Magazine and would like to ask you a question.

Who is your favorite social media expert?

These people should have great information and able to teach others well with the information they share.

Please let me know who you would like to see an article from.

If you consider yourself an expert and would like to submit an article, let me know too. We have room for more articles at this point so either reply here or send me a private message.

For those that asked the articles should be 500 words.

Also, this should be someone who would be able to write some "meat" about a subject, giving readers actionable items they can use to better themselves or their businesses.

Uncle MoFo is pretty good, that's great!
Mike Wesely, Carrie Wilkerson, Matthew Sherborne are some of the ones onboard already.

      Who else?

One of the things we want to do with this magazine is give the new emerging experts, people who really know what they're doing, but don't have a "name" for themselves yet. You know what I mean?
We don't want this magazine to be a guru fest. Sure we have Matt Bacak for the first issue, but that's just one article. We want to include up and coming experts who really know what they're doing and have something to say and want recognition in an industry magazine.

Thanks for your reply to this thread and the private messages and emails too all.

This is YOUR magazine, so here's your chance to make it what you want and hear from who you want.

      His Susan,

Thanks so much for these recommendations! I'd stumbled across Carrie Wilkerson's Barefoot Executive site before but forgotten about it. I'd only heard of Mari Smith; I'd never visited her site.

Thanks so much for the resources. I just happen to be looking for how-to social networking info right now.

      Michelle

Let me give a try Mike.

What we are looking for is someone like myself. I am an internet marketer. None of you know me (yet) but I make a couple thousand dollars a month on the internet - not guru status, not enough to quit my full time job, but a decent amount that obviously I know what I am doing. This is what we are looking for, someone we at IMM don't know yet.

Of course we are going to approach the gurus and ask them to submit articles, but that is not what this magazine is about. We also want people from the trenches people that are really working the internet and are successful but may not be well known, underground marketers if you will. We may want you!

We want people to provide some good information about internet marketing. This up coming month will be on social media and marketing, so do you know someone who really works facebook well or knows some good tips on using twitter or the thousands of other social media sites out there that would be interested in writing an article and telling others about what they know?

The following month is slated to be on research, ie. niche research, market research, keyword research, affiliate product research, everything to do with researching your market to be successful at selling on the internet. So if you or someone you know does not know something about social media maybe you know something about research or the next topic or the next.

So NOW do you know someone that would want to write an article for a magazine?

This list could go on and on and on...

If you are short of time and can watch only one video this is the one hands down:

YouTube - Web 2.0 Expo NY: Gary Vaynerchuk (Wine Library), Building Personal Brand Within the Social Media Landscape

If you have more time I would suggest following some people like:

Seth Godin, Clay Shirk, Gary Vee, Tim Ferriss, Jason Fried, Fred Wilson, Tim O'Reilly, Chris Anderson, Charlene Li, Robert Scoble, Guy Kawasaki, Don Tapscott

Of course Social Media Marketing: An Hour a Day by Dave Evans and Susan Bratton is a must read too.

Thank you all for your comments on this.

Ryce, your list is of the leaders in the Social Media industry. I didn't see Loic LeMuer in there but he's another one. I've followed him since day 1 of Seesmic.

One of the things Dan said was that, yes we're getting guru's involved with this issue. We also want the up and coming rising stars who know what they're talking about but may not have the "name recognition" as Scobleizer, Kawasaki, Mari Smith and Carrie Wilkerson.

We want to give the chance to the doers, movers and shakers, people who do it all day long, know what they're doing, are doing it right and who want to teach others.

Perhaps this person is you or someone you know?

I appreciate the list everyone. I love hearing new names I haven't heard before. We have already started contacting some of the people mentioned here.

There is room for more, so lets keep them coming.

I learned a lot from Dennis karganilla (DK), although he teaches more Network Marketing approaches using social media. I've also found Perry Belcher to have a lot of info on social media.

I also vote for Perry Belcher. I heard him talk about Twitter on a CD from Glazer/Kennedy Insiders Circle. He was fun and interesting and, best of all, had a ton of actionable information.
