Kindle flame reviews by competitors -- any tips on handling?

Hi - I need to start publishing books on Kindle. Quick question, how do you handle 'flame' reviews likely posted by competitors? Can you delete your Kindle listing and resubmit it later, if there's flame/troll reviews by competitors? Other ways to handle it? Hopefully tons of positive legit reviews outweigh negatives by competitors.

Having a listing that your competitors jump on and post negative reviews about, is a concern, in competitive niches.

thx,

k

    Hi Ken,

Flaming reviews can be removed by Amazon.com if you report them. I write mostly children's books so I haven't had any bad reviews but I have reported several unfair reviews on other books to Amazon and they were promptly removed.

Amazon can tell who has reviewed a book after purchasing; and who is writing a review without purchasing. You can definitely report reviews, though.

I wouldn't worry too much about reviews when you haven't even got a book published yet. Get it up there and then worry about it. Or not. You may not get any bad or good reviews at all!

    Ken,
Depending on the situation, Amazon may remove them. However, there is nothing to stop a competitor from legitimately buying your book and writing an awful review even if they didn't read it.

While you can't totally prevent it, if it does happen, definitely let Amazon know. Also, make sure and reply to ALL comments, good and bad, because most bad comments can even be turned around into a selling opportunity that will actually help you.

Lastly, even the best books have some negative reviews so if you do get a couple, it won't be the end of the world. In fact, many people don't even trust the reviews if they are all positive.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your upcoming books.

I have a book in kindle that already sold more than a thousand copies and never receive a suspected flame review. This kind of thing should not matter if you just think of earning and nothing else... Think positive.

I don't think that your competitors would use this tactic because it is time consuming, the negative comments can be removed, and they might even help you if you will give an intelligent explanation to your readers.

  • Ignore the jealous evil people, earth is full that kind of crap, and focus on the positive and move forward, they will always go to hell and try to get others down to them, it's been like that since the dawn of time and will always be like that just ignore the slime.

Maybe you should just cross the bridge when you get there. You haven't even published your book yet. Also, aren't you feeling confident about what you are writing? I suggest that you publish it only when you are already feeling assurance that you will only get positive reviews. Just saying.
