How much would you pay for IM coaching?

I recently came upon this excellent opportunity to learn how to maximize my skills and earn more than I currently do with this wonderful thing they call Internet Marketing. I might be late by a few years, but I'm still going to give it a shot

Being a newbug, with extra time to do more than just cross my fingers and pray to my gods that this works, I understand that I need help. Which is also why I'm here.

So I learn as much as I can. I bought eBooks, to help me get started and get 5,000 words of pep talk.

I found an site where an IM guru is offering a so & so week course to learn all that I need to know about IM. The guy has excellent reputation and I think I will benefit from the course, but do you think $197 is going to be worth it?

If you were to join a coaching program, how much would you be willing to pay?

do you think $197 is going to be worth it?
Assuming the program is solid, it will totally depend on you.

Odds are good that the program will contain $197 in value but would be worthless to some people.

Price will ALWAYS be subjective for each individual.

For some people, hiring a coach is the absolute BEST thing that they can do to grow their business because what they need is someone to keep their butts in gear and taking action and they need to have a proven, solid method that they are confident can work.

For others hiring a coach is the WORST thing that they can do because despite having a great coach they will fail to take ACTION... The most important component in becoming successful online.

I agree. As the guru said, 50 people enrolled in his program, but only 30 actually send emails etc to take full advantage of the course.

It's $197 per month, by the way, for 12 months.

The sales page was so convincing, I almost whipped out my card but I had to look around and see if it's worth investing in...

save your money, analyze and learn from the sales page, and all material related to that. that is more important than any information in the product. and most of all, it's free

If you're new to the game, you don't yet know what you need to learn about IM. You'd be better off carrying on with your research until you decide what type of IM business you'd like to pursue. Then you can look at the most cost and time-effective means of acquiring the relevant knowledge/expertise.

Until then, the chances are strong that you'd be wasting your money.

Really new. I'm on step 1: which is research. I thought that getting a coach would help me in my research, though, which is why I became interested in that offer. Thank you for your input

You don't need to spend $197 on research. And there's no course in existence that can teach you "everything you need to know about IM".

Spend some time investigating the various marketing models until you find one that resonates with your skill set, experience or aptitude. Or one that just simply appeals to you the most. Then look for the experts in that field and follow them, if you must. But don't rush in and throw money at some generic course just because of its compelling sales pitch.

        Good luck.

You can learn a lot researching, but only doing things will you truly learn.

I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars doing experiments (many failed) until I knew what I should do or avoid. Focusing on a project at a time was a problem...

I wouldn't buy into it. it will most likely contain pre made videos sent as an email series covering generalities of internet marketing and blame any poor results on your inaction or something.

If you get what you need (not necessarily what you want) and it helps you make money, the price doesn't matter. But often, the best instruction can be had even at a big discount.

In my case, I never paid anything for the knowledge I have now. I read around, studied up on different things. When I met an IM, I took him out to lunch and just let him talk about his own business. That was all the learning I ever needed. I didn't need instructions or steps or anything. I simply listened to how he built his business and I incorporated some of that into what I was doing.

i would say go with a membership site first. now, it is not private coaching but if you are a beginner it will be good.
i also found alot of scams in coaching: be craeful....buy on credit card so you can dispute charge if they fail to return your money...
    make sure money back guarantee.
NEVER BUY................NEVER BUY.................NEVER BUY...................IF THERE IS NO MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. NOT THAT YOU WILL MAKE MONEY BUT THAT THE INFO IS GOOD.

$197 is nothing compared to if you get just one nugget that can help you break the ice. If you want to make money online, you have first got to be able to 'buy' before you can 'sell'.

This does not mean to go blindly throwing your money away.

    And remember...

Knowledge is ONLY Power if you actually 'apply' what you learn.

And the only way we learn here is by "Doing"

People, read the whole thread. He's not talking a one-time $197 here.

He clarified that the program is $197 per month for 12 months, or $2364.

According to some quick research, the average monthly disposable income in Bali is ~$185 USD equivalent, or $2220 per year. The OP is talking about spending almost 13 months income (if he's at the average) on a course when he's still in the "don't know what you don't know" stage. Which would be insane at this point.

Unless he's independently wealthy already, my recommendation would be to keep reading here, and ask questions as he goes.

Although I am in Bali, the income average you stated does not apply to me as an expat who plays jazz on the side and does other stuff on the other side...But yes, $2364 does sound a lot, doesn't it?

I've bougth coaching for a few thousands $$, and I'm very happy with it.
Finally, I have much help, real coaching.
I think this is the good one.

But - I also bought some programs that teached me "How to this or this" but not how to make money !

    And also :
There's *no* necessity to buy any coaching if you're not ready :
1- to make money - much money (don't underestimate this)
    2- to DO
3- to change yourself in the process

What can you guys say about Jimmy Brown's coaching packages?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8627711].message }}

I have never purchased one of his coaching programs. I can tell you this . . . Mr. Brown is an excellent sales copywriter. He knows how to write a compelling offer, as you have learned already.

Over the years I have seen him come out with new products, one after another, and I would guess that he makes a lot of money and has a lot of students. Whether having a lot of students is a good or a bad thing is debatable. Whether you can enjoy the success he has had is also debatable.

I would suggest you keep your wallet in your pocket, at least for awhile until you learn more about Internet marketing and more qualified to determine if you really need coaching or not.

Every program is different, so this question cannot be answered. Some consultants charge a thousand dollars an hour and are worth every penny, while some charge $200 for six weeks and you'd be better off burning the money.

It's all about value. Some products and programs aren't worth $197 at all and some are worth way more than $197. And whether it's worth it to you is completely subjective.

I have paid $297 - $2K for various info products as well as $3K - $7K EACH for various coaching programs (ranging from 6 mo. - 1 yr) with my biz coach. That does not include travel for conferences and in-person 1-on-1 sessions with her.

I spent $9.5K with my biz coach in 2012 alone. Well worth it!

The question is not whether $197 is too much. The question is whether the program is worth $197. (Personally, I'm a bit suspicious of any "coaching" program which charges so little. An info product? OK. But how much actual coaching can you get for just $197???)

Ok, I just saw that it's $197 a month. That sounds more like it. But again, it's still subjective. Whether it's worth it to YOU is up to you. Sounds like you could use reviews and testimonials for that specific program to help you make a decision.

Also, as John McCabe pointed out: $2K is not the same to everyone. For some, it's a lot more money than for others. And of course, it may not be the right TIME for a coaching program.

Generally, I recommend investing in at least one comprehensive A-Z IM course. Learn the basics and get your foundation in place. THEN invest in coaching to get more personalized help when you need it. But don't waste big $$$ when you don't even have a foundation in place.

I would have to agree with Nightengale - is the program really worth $197. I have paid 5K for a personal mentor who has worked with me 1 on 1 many times. It's great to have someone who is there when you email them and can answer all your questions. I have been in IM for 5/6 years now and a mentor really helps take it to the next level.

I would just continue to research different ways to make money (PPC, CPA, affiliate, etc.) and see which fits you best. Then buy a product of 2 to learn more details about the way you are interested in.

A great coaching program that gives you what you need and lines up with your timeline (Ex, you are READY to take massive action) from a reputable source is certainly worth $197 - I have paid thousands in coaching at different points in building my businesses and have always come out with several times the return.

However, the key is to identify the 'type' of online business you want to run and then make sure the coach is aligned with that method.

For example, let's say you want to create a business based on information products and training...then joining a general IM coaching program from a IM guru who made it big with Adsense is definitely heading in the wrong direction.

You mention you need help with research...ok, have you decided on the business model/type of business you want to run online? Your research methods will be different depending on whether it is an infoproduct business, affiliate business, e-commerce business selling real stuff, services business, business that transitions offline to onilne, etc...

You should try and align with a coach that has had success in the particular type of business you see yourself growing.

Then it's more a matter of having an up-front consult (something I would always demand of a high-end coach) to see if your objectives align, if you like his/her style, what their approach is (how hands-on/hands-off, supplemental materials, payment schedule, extra help, endorsements in future, etc...)

It takes some time to find the right coach, but it's well worth the effort if you are ready to rock & roll!

    Jeff
