Socialbokmarking my own articles

Hi there,

I was just wondering if it is possible to bookmark my own articles that I intend to publish in article directories.

How would I go about that.

Thanks

Yes you can, publish them at the article directories and then bookmark them ...

Be careful though, not knowing what you are doing could hurt you.. Bookmarking too many from the same directory all at once could also hurt you...

Can you explain them a bit more. Presumably I can just bookmark 1 article per directory

What you do is bookmark the rss feed that the article directory provides for you. Like your feed in EA for example.

Then submit that feed to the rss directories too.

When you submit a new article it will be updated into your rss feed from that directory.

A safe zone would to re-bookmark your feed every month, or so, depending on how many articles you submit.

You do not want to bookmark too many at once from the same directory. You would take 3 or 4 different domains and bookmark them today and then wait a little bit and grab up another 3 or 4 more different (not the same ones you did the first time) domains and bookmark them.

If you have 10 or 20 articles on one directory and want to bookmark them all then you need to create several different accounts at the social bookmarking sites.

There is a art form to bookmarking, it is not just going to a site and bookmarking. You need to really create profiles and fill out all your info, become apart of the community, invite friends and make friend request, and etc ....

Let me chime in on this one. It all comes back to the principle of "give first, get later."

Let me explain further. Suppose you're signed up for a digg account. And suppose I happen across your account and wonder what you're digging. If all I see are diggs for your own posts, what impression does that give? First of all, probably that you're a self-centered person who only likes their own stuff!

But if, when I visit your digg account, i see that you like a whole range of interesting things, AND you also digg your own stuff too, then I have a whole different impression -- and will be that much more willing to support you.

I've heard that sites such as digg can actually delete your account if the only thing you're doing is bookmarking your own stuff!

The point here is to give something back FIRST, before you expect to get any link love from other sources.

I think this is the principle behind "being careful" about bookmarking your own stuff; have a set goal (say 80% digging others, 20% your own -- or some other reasonable percentage -- so that you can build up a supply of good link karma.

The other thing I'd have to say about this topic is that if you go into it thinking you have to do it all yourself, you are shortchanging the internet community, which will always reward good content eventually. Perhaps it would be better to get some articles going first, with social bookmarking links on your site to request that people bookmark when they like it.

With a program and system going that invites and includes others, you will not only not HAVE to bookmark your own stuff so much, you will get others playing with you and leveraging your content.

  • You do it the same way you would bookmark any other site.

Social bookmarking your own articles works well. I do it all the time and it seems like it leads to more and more sales.
