90% Bounce Rate. No List. Tons Of Sales.

So... I have a few affiliate websites that have HUGE bounce rates, and im making plenty of sales directly from the website, no list.

I'm assuming this is because they are bouncing to the affiliate site right away and buying.

Can this high bounce rate be a problem? Will it affect my Google ranks at all? Anybody else experiencing this?

    If you are driving this traffic organically only, bounce rates do affect SEO scores. If you are driving this traffic with paid methods, bounce rates don't matter. Also, if you are driving traffic from say another site to your affiliate page THEN they are going to buy, it won't matter.

    For example, YouTube Video-->Affiliate Page-->Buying. Google is only going to hurt your score if your traffic is SEO and directly to your affiliate page.

      I have a mix of traffic sources, although a substantial amount from google seo. It seems like they are finding what the want and bouncing to the sales page... Any idea how i can make them more interactive? Or do i even want to?

          I have videos and they work great, but i think they are bouncing right after they watch it lol. I have a video on each page about the product, but no video "section" on the site if that makes any difference.

    Are you sure its from sales?

    Google does monitor how long someone stays on your site. They figure someone that leaves quickly didn't find the information they were looking for. Google wants sites to be engaging and useful to the user. It may affect your rankings so perhaps you should look into it....

      Im assuming there bouncing to the affiliate page, if not I probably wouldn't see as many sales. All my sites are similar with 90% bounce rates and they stay on the page for an average of 1 minute.

    If it's a single page site then you will most likely always have a high bounce rate because there is nowhere else for people to go but to leave your site.

      Its not single, very many posts in blog format with categories.

          Ya, thers recent posts, categories, search bar, and sometimes I will interlink articles in the text.

          I think most visitors are finding what they want and bouncing to sales page within 1 minute average. I'm just worried this may affect SEO...

    High Bounce rate is a problem only if you rely on organic search engine traffic. Bounce rate is a SEO factor and over a period of time, your website will rank lower in the search engines. I can think of the following things you can do to reduce bounce rate:

    1. Open link in new tabs
    2. Create content pages with the intention of getting traffic but without any intention of selling them stuff.

    The second method will drastically reduce your website's overall bounce rate. So if you have 2 pages which sell affiliate stuff and 8 pages which is meant to gather traffic and redirect to other pages, your overall bounce rate will drop drastically.

      My thoughts exactly. Your site is doing exactly what you want it to do. Why aim for more interaction when you're making sales?

      Sure test more interaction if you like, but if sales drop keep doing what you're doing. Sounds like a winner ... build more sites like that.

    Since search traffic is not the only traffic source for you, bounce rate should not be an issue. however if you feel that you can improve conversions by reducing the bounce rate then you should analyze user behavior with some kind of analytics / heat-map to come up with a strategy to improve conversions.

    Yes Bounce Rate effects your SEO rankings , but more importantly ...

    If you are already making sales, by people just clicking over to the vendors page ... Just imagine how much money you are leaving on the table by not getting them on a list first : )

    You're getting sales - screw the bounce rate. I know I don't read bunches of blog posts when I search in Google. I land on the page, find the answer, and bounce.
