You mean you want to pay for a good mailing (solo ad)? Or buy a good e-mail list? Because you're going to have a hard time with the latter.

You cant and even if you did you would just be spamming people since they didnt sign up to get your emails.

It isn't the list that "works", Fireball. It's the relationship between the subscribers and the list-owner. That's why a bought list isn't typically worth much at all.

The value of email marketing is that it's permission-based.

Almost nobody here who has had any success at all, with email marketing, will ever recommend buying a list.

People open, read and sometimes act on emails they receive from people to whose lists they've subscribed. If they haven't, they usually don't. And a proportion of the ones who do, report them as "spam" precisely because they're not permission-based emails. That's why autoresponder companies don't allow people to import a bought list, because when people "report spam", ISP's stop permitting emails from those IP numbers to be delivered. Which means that the service's other customers would all suffer.

The reason that no commercial autoresponder company will allow you to do this is the same reason that you shouldn't do it on your own, with a self-hosted autresponder, too - because if you do that, it's your internet connection, domain registration, hosting and reputation that you're putting in jeopardy, rather than those of the autoresponder service provider.

what you could try, if you are with getresponse, you can use getsubscribers (a service of getresponse) to buy leads.... I haven't done this yet, so not sure if it's worth to do it....
But as Alexa says, in the end you need to build a relationship with your list, they won't buy anything from you just because you bought the leads....

Hold on there. It's not technically illegal to sell email lists. However, if you do sell a list to someone who is later convicted of spamming under CAN-SPAM you could find yourself being charged as a conspirator.

From here on, we are in the realm of personal opinion and best practices. I don't personally believe that buying lists is a good idea ever, but there will be those who disagree. As a committed permission based marketer, I always tell people never to buy a list because you can't buy permission. Leads or list rental (sending your offer to someone's list without ever seeing the actual addresses) is another matter.

      Regards,
      jim

The way I understand it is an ad is generated and people request information in a specific niche, and there are people who are "fillers" of those ads. You can "purchase" clicks to be a "provider of information" when you pay the "filler" for the opportunity to give the requester the information. I think that's a very loose, simple explanation of what you might be thinking you can purchase. And yes, you can purchase them, however, it is still a chance and most definitely a relationship between you and that requester begins when they "opt-in" to your supplied information. Sometimes you can "buy" $400 of traffic and not get one opt-in. That's due to the relevance between what is requested and what is being filled. A good professional "filler" is worth their weight. If I'm wrong on this rudimentary explanation, I appreciate feedback.

There are places where you can buy leads. I don't highly recommend them. But it depends on why you're purchasing the list. You can check with high traffic websites within your niche and see if they are willing to rent out the list to you. That's a suggestion.

For marketing is the U.S. your expected to wither build your own list of opted-in subscribers or to pay the owner of a legitimate Can-Spam complaint list to email on your behalf, like in a solo ad.

Interestingly the giant list of rental postal mail addresses lists.nextmark.com also has some demographically targeted lists of emails and phone #s.

If you'd like to do a Solo Ad to a targeted Email List... I highly recommend ArcaMax. Talk to Richard Young there (he's the vice president) and tell him I sent you, and he'll take great care of you. Here's his profile on Linked In : Richard Young | LinkedIn

I wouldn't recommend buying an email list. You would think it's the same as buying a list offline (SRDS), but it's not. Even a list of 300,000 emails bought... unless you're selling Viagra or Crack, i wouldn't do it.
