Syndicating Content Question

I have a few product review websites, is it wise to straight copy and paste these articles into directories like go articles and link back to the exact same review article on my site?

A little confused on syndicating content...

As long as Google has indexed them on your site, there's no harm in putting them into an article directory.

There's no point in putting them into any directories other than Ezine Articles, though, IMO, because that's the first one all potential syndicators will look in for available content (and there's no other purpose in having a copy in an article directory anyway).

There's no point in putting them in more than one directory, either, really.

Bear in mind that this (submitting to an article directory) isn't really "syndication" in itself: it's simply an attempt at awaiting some additional passive syndication - it should be the last stage afterthought after all the other syndication you do, if you want your articles syndicated.

No, I wouldn't do that! Linking from an article to another copy of the same article is really a way of losing some of the traffic. Just link to your landing-page/home-page/whatever, wherever you want the traffic.

Bear in mind that whatever's in the resource-box in the copy you submit to an article directory will also be what's in the copies syndicated from the article directory.

(I really wouldn't use "GoArticles", honestly ... it's "auto-approve". There's quite unlikely to be any real benefit from submitting to an "auto-approve" article directory. Just my opinion. Well, actually, not really "just my opinion": it will also be the opinion of most people who use article marketing to build their businesses ).

Let's simplify greatly, then, to keep it straightforward ...

Don't try to use any article directory either for its backlinks or as a traffic-source. (That isn't how they work, and all the expensive mistakes that lead people to saying "Article marketing doesn't work any more" are out there, just waiting to be made, if you try to do that!).

This is a one-post overview of how article marketing works.

This one post makes suggestions on "how to write for syndication".

This one post explains in adequate detail how article directories work and what you can/can't gain by submitting articles to them.

    That's enough!

I was really hoping you would answer my question Alexa since i know you know a lot about this!

Amazing answer clears up a lot of confusion on this even after reading other threads. Thanks

Ezine really bothers me sometimes with how long they take to accept an article but I will give it a go again.

I would suggest you to create unique article on blog otherwise it will be in direct competition to article directories for search engine rankings.

Not if you know what you're doing, and understand how article marketing works - that won't be so at all.

The copy on your site, after you've accumulating initial indexation-rights, will always outrank article directory copies, Guptara. Especially after all those Panda updates helped us article marketers out so much by decimating the SEO of the article directories. Were now able to submit copies there without worrying that our potential customers will ever see them.

Besides, if you wanted to do that, you wouldn't be able to use an article directory at all other than by submitting unique content there, too (and nobody who understands the basics is going to do that: that in itself would be a huge mistake for all the reasons explained in such detail throughout this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...marketing.html ).

Its interesting how it works, but now i understand it. What are the chances that product reviews get found and syndicated by others on ezines?

          I would think zero.

I wouldn't expect an article mentioning a product to be syndicated at all, I'm afraid. People who syndicate articles are doing so because the quality/originality/entertainment-value/whatever of their content are something they want to share with their own readers/visitors/subscribers. They're all people who, for whatever reason(s), "need content". It's kind of fundamental that one needs (even in a resource-box) to avoid anything that might look "salesy".

(I may be wrong: I'm outside my experience, answering this question, as I've never mentioned a product in an article.)

            Spot on again, Lexy...

I have mentioned products in articles, but only as examples, never linked, and never anything that remotely resembled a "review".

For example, in an article about BBQ:

One common grill is the kettle type, with the Weber Kettle as the most popular example of the type. Others include ceramic bowl grills like the Big Green Egg...

I have blog categories on my sites so i guess i can give it a shot and put those articles on ezines. There more interesting/informational blog posts that are not sales oriented at all.

I've seen that syndicating the exact same content to other authority blogs / article directories can impact rankings of your original blog post on Google. Many of my blog posts lost rankings on google after I syndicated content this way. After I removed the syndicated content my rankings got restored.

In fact I've seen my original blog post lose rankings on Google after a stolen copy is posted on article directories. I normally put a DMCA complaint with Google to remove the stolen article listing from Google. Once the stolen article listing gets removed from Google, the ranking of my original blog post also gets restored.

You have to write new articles promoting your websites. If you cannot write them yourself, you can find writers here at the WF, and at many other places.

Apparently the whole point is that your not suppose to write new articles. Syndicated content is a copy of what you have on your site.

Exactly so. One would hardly want to put unique content into an article directory! But many people are confused between "duplicate content" and "syndicated content" (the differences between the two are hugely significant, and are briefly explained in this post and this little article). And many are also a little confused between "unique content" and "original content", and use these two entirely different terms more-or-less interchangeably. There's barely a thread about article marketing in the forum without these confusions creeping in. More surprising still, there are even some people who imagine that article marketing works less well after/because of Google's Panda updates (rather than appreciating the reality that the Panda updates were a major advantage to article marketers). All one can do, really, is keep explaining patiently in the hope that the mist will gradually clear. The reality is that it will for some people, and not for others.
