I received this funding offer. Does anyone know if it is a scam?

I am seeking an investor and/or funding for a startup idea that I have, and received a response to one of the ads that I posted on Craigslist. I have actually received 2 responses where the terms are silimilar but slightly different. It seems like it might be a scam, but I can't quite figure out how I would get scammed if it is. Here is the email:

Could be legit. There are plenty of real lenders out there. Only way to tell is to communicate with them. Ask for references, business license, etc. Good luck.

Really? I've actually had good experiences with dozens of legitimate businesses on Craigslist. Realtors, service providers of all types, private individuals. Craigslist is a goldmine if you approach with caution and use common sense.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine had good luck locating an investor on Craigslist, so I thought that I would give it a shot. Due to some bad choices in my early twenties, my credit is average at best, so I thought I would give it a shot. I would like to try some crowdfunding sites, but cannot think of a way to pitch my idea without giving away the concept.

Rookie mistake - starts message with 'I am an investor' ends with 'from US'

If I remember correctly the Nigerian emails always said you had free money when they started their chats.... my guess is that it's either a pay per lead marketer (legit) or a scammer.

Good point. I wrote back to them asking them for a website or some type of proof that the offer is legitimate. We'll see if I ever get a response.

      Come on . . .

A 30 year loan of more than $50K with no financial statements, tax returns, or asset documentation?

      You're wasting your time.

In 2007 I got a loan for $200,000 with only a credit check and my signature.

Yeah, I'm thinking that it's probably someone trying to redirect you to a CPA-type offer for loans, which may be legit, but also probably not helpful.
