Does 30 Days Money Back increase sales for OTO?

Hi all,

I am doing two special OTOs on my website.

One is a $9 product and another is a $19 upsell.

Do you think having a 30 days money back on both offers help increase conversion?

I dunno but my gut feel is that no one bothers about the money back anymore since it's so common.

I dont think its necessary, the point of a OTO is they only have one chance of getting it, what good does it do, if you are allowing them a return? It sounds like more work in the end, keep it simple

The only reason NOT to have one is if you don't have confidence in your product.

Or, you don't give a refund because you HAVE confidence in your product.

Not saying you shouldn't offer one, but to say the only reason to offer one, is to show you have confidence in your product...is not accurate at all.

Yea but it is better business practice to offer a money back guarentee. You could say the reasons for not offering a money back guarentee are low confidence in your product, paranoia, and being greedy.

  • Give them a lifetime refund policy and tell me that it doesn't increase your conversion rate. Of course conversion rates are not everything.

You can set an split test using a redirect link that send each buyer to different OTO page and check the conversions.

Just remember that there are thousands of 'new' people accessing the Internet from all over the world every day. These people will be nervous about buying from a 'stranger' on line and a 30 day money back guarantee might just reduce their fear of buying.

If you have a mailing list of people who have purchased from you and trust you then a guarantee is probably not necessary. If you are selling to Warriors or indeed any other market where you do not have a known reputation, I would opt for the guarantee - and honor it.

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff.

A refund guarantee is almost always a good idea. It's very rare that having a guarantee is going to decrease your sales so it won't hurt having one there. Besides, if you stand by your product and believe it is as good as you say it is then you should have no problem offering a guarantee of sorts.

Yes, it will make them feel more comfortable about spending their money if they have nothing to lose. If your product offers value, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about offering a money back guarantee.

  • Personally I prefer to buy products that come with money back guarantee.

If a product is worthwhile, the seller should not have a problem with offering money back guarantee.

If the quality of the product you are promoting is good then you should offer guarantee. Adding 30 Days Money Back will surely help in increasing the trust and reputation, which could translate into better conversions.

I prefer not to mention refunds at all because if you are offering a great product or service, why are people going to ask for refunds? While the sales experts suggest to offer money back guarantees for products to reduce risk management, I think this only applies for certain products in certain markets. If you are making a one time offer or you have a more expensive product/service, why mention refunds at all unless you plan on people not liking your product? You can always accept a request for a refund when people make one if you want!

I did a couple of months worth of split testing, testing conversions and refund rates on my eBook product.

I did none, 30, 60 and 90. The 60 and 90 day refund policy won hands down for both conversions and refund rates.

The biggest refund rate came from the 30 day money back guarantee - usually in the last 3 days of the refund period.

The only way to do this is to test yourself and find a happy medium.
