Why Is My Bounce Rate So High?

Hello Warriors,
I want to know why my bounce rate is so high and why my landing page is not converting.

I get about 19 unique visits ( site is less than 1 week old) mainly from msn but unfortunately the bounce rate is extremely too high.

I am currently at 85% bounce rate. How do I reduce it? What have I done wrong.

The url is Crate Training Puppies | House Training A Dog | Potty Training A Dog.

When I clicked on your link...the top banner comes up as a red X....it doesn't feel very warm....maybe some pictures...it looks very salesy....free isn't mentioned until the bottom....it didn't pull me in...doesn't look professional...I don't know why....just some of my thoughts....

Get a better squeeze page template. I just Googled "free squeeze page templates" and came across this site.

      Plugin Squeeze Page - http://www.pluginsqueezepage.com/

I went ahead and subscribed to check it out. You are taken directly to the download page. There is nothing to buy and no OTO.

Try one with the opt-in form above the fold. Add a nice picture of a happy dog. And test, test, test.

How did you build the site? Looks like the path to the picture is not correct. Go into the code, find out where the picture is, and then put the correct path in. Good Luck

Yes, that broken top image is a big turn off.

I have great results asking a few 'are you in this problem' type of questions and then saying I can help them, all on a very short above the fold page.

There is a theory/practice out there that ugly looking sites can still be profitable, but I find websites that still have that first generation internet (early 90's) look to them are becoming more and more rare.

Surfers just do not have the patience for websites that do nothing for them aesthetically, so you are already fighting an uphill battle when they arrive. Yes, content is the true test, but I come to your page and I immediately want to blow it off - without reading because your text is simply irritating. It actually makes me nauseous to read it.

Further, mostly because of the lack of effort in appearance, there is really nothing credible about your sign up process. Why would I sign up to a responder that irritated me on my first visit?

If you have 20 uniques per day, you are actually doing something right in getting traffic already, but the only readers that will go through your entire site are the spiders that crawl it. They love sites like yours because the code is so simple - your site can be crawled in a nano-second.

I wouldn't even fix anything on this page sir. You need a complete makeover.

These guys have a free template which you can use in your web design software and will do the job for you rather well:

        Kingsley,

You need to change the banner name and location in your source file. I tried to access the banner directly and I got a 404 page.

Thanks for the advise, I believe I will not be posting on the warriorforum asking for help if I am not will to put the "effort in appearance".

"I wouldn't even fix anything on this page sir. You need a complete makeover. " I am willing to overhaul everything completely but I am sorry to say I will only go with free templates for now.

        Thanks for the advise anyway.

Remove the "Powered By Getresponse Email Marketing"

It's certainly a turn off for most.

Sorry but with a bounce rate that high, this is exactly what your visitors are saying to you. Harsh, but true. Not sure what posting on the WF has to do with that - except that you are getting the help you asked for.

Also the link I gave you is a free template and it's quite nice.

@WilliamM thanks for the link, I am downloading the templates as I type.

@everybody, concerning the image, I am having difficulties uploading my banner to the header. I was useing a pre-designed template and could not figure how to upload the image to it.

Yeah, your banner isn't showing up which will deter people anyway. Also, when you upload it, make sure it looks professional. The opt-in page doesn't seem to jump out. Changed your styles a bit and maybe add more content. You need one element to flow from the next. Grab there attention, make them curious and then inform them that YOU have what they are looking for.

The grammar is killing it, also.

Find someone who can proof if you can't separate yourself from your content adequtely in your head.
