Marketing My Services on Blog - Domain Name?

Hi,

I'm gonna be creating a Wordpress.com blog to market my services. After a week, I'll transfer it to my own domain hosted with HG.

First off, what domain should I use? I'm thinking jrjohnfreelancer.com or jrjohnfreelanceforhire.com or something of the like.

This site is strictly to market my freelance services. Could you suggest me some domain names?

Thanks,
JR John

I would recommend something along the lines of successwithjohn. You want people to have a reason to visit your site and may critique you on your site's name, If you put a word change or success in there It makes your site sound that much more powerful.

Just a suggestion, try and keep the domain name short and easy to remember.
    Google luck

Those domain names would be a bit hard to
remember. Why not try and incorporate one
of your keywords into the domain name e.g
    freelancingjohn.com

If you want to market your services with the help of search engine then a keyword centric domain name would help.

However if you want to really build a business around services, then it would be better to use your name / brand. This works well in forums and communities where your name and reputation can bring you lots of customers.

      John,

I am of the school that likes to see a descriptive domain name that tells people what you do at first glance. If they see your domain name on a forum, or in an article, or a search result I feel it is good that the name offers a clue as to what the site is all about.

Huge companies like Amazon and Google can rely on branding because they have millions of dollars a month set aside to promote their name as a brand. Small businesses can brand their names over time, but when you're starting out, branding is not going to help you much.

Let me ask you a question? Do people search Google and search the Internet for freelancers?

      No.

They search for copywriters, SEO experts, business coaches, and graphic artists. That's why I think you would be better off giving people a clue about what you specifically do ... not the fact that you work on your own as a freelancer.

      Good luck,

      Steve

I agree with trying to brand your name. Unfortunately my full name is Christopher Wright, very common.

I would also recommend something like 'sportwriterjohn.com' to help with your SEO.

I've gone with englishfreelancewriter.com in the hope that anyone who searches english freelance writer will find me (once I sort my SEO out).

Do you specialise in any niche, John?

why do you focus more on name, "jrjo"ohnfreelancer look weird, even I was little lost in reading "jrjo". Focus more on what type of service you want to launch, like if you are going for seo, then name should be "seofreelancer", or "expertseofreelancer"
