Kindle Authors: Which Free Offer is Most Enticing?

I am making a squeeze page for my Kindle email list.

I'm trying to decide what I should give away a the free gift for my landing page.

My question is to you Kindle publishers & sellers, or even aspiring writers that want to sell on Kinde...
Which of the following offers would be most appealing to you (for free):

- Complete Kindle Guide (How To Create Kindle Books that Actually Sell)

- 25 eBook Cover Templates

- 10 Free Fiction Plot Ideas (to base your stories around)

- (Any other ideas for free gifts you'd want?)

Please leave your responses here, I'd really appreciate it!
Anyone in the Kindle niche has the most valuable opinion here.

Thank you!

Hi, why don´t you offer the three thing. I mean, why don´t you put in the squeezepage three links for the prospect to chose from?! i think that the conversion will increase if the prospect has to do a choice.

It might help to know what niche your book is in as I think that would be important to know what might interest your buyers.

I believe that the first option is better for most people, but you will find fierce competition.

It would be nice if you could create an ebook teaching Kindle authors how to get interesting reviews, and how to have more advantages, besides writing ebooks that actually sell.

Yesterday I was at another forum (kboards) and there was a discussion about not selling more ebooks after writing more. Many authors said that in the beginning they were selling more ebooks than now that they have more ebooks for sale. Can you solve this kind of problem?

The idea with the ebook cover templates is poor. Everyone knows that the ebook cover must be special. Many authors change the ebook cover when they are not selling their ebooks.

Do you think that the guide (How To Make Kindle Books That Actually Sell) would be appealing an experience Kindle publisher?
Or a Kindle publisher who already has a basic understanding of selling Kindle books?

I believe that this title is appealing for those who ignore everything about this matter.

You have fierce competition from many very strong competitors who have written excellent ebooks about how to write ebooks that sell, after selling millions of ebooks themselves.

You have to prove to your readers that you really know how to sell. If you are an unknown author and you cannot show to your prospects that you are really selling, they won't believe you; at least not authors that are already selling ebooks. They will look for the guidance of experts who are surely selling many Kindle ebooks instead of trusting your words.

          This.

This is everything. You can't achieve anything by teaching things you haven't successfully done yourself ... so you need to show, clearly and unambiguously, that you have done.

John Locke can make tens of thousands of sales of his "How I Sold A Million Kindle Books" book (or whatever the exact title is - I read it but I can't quite remember, now!), because he sold a million Kindle books.

You have to start by establishing your credibility (this is also one of the major problems with the squeeze page you showed us the other day, TT).

The book is only appealing to the experienced if you can show you have some updated information about how to sell more books. You know...a golden nugget or two revealing techniques you find successful. Otherwise, I know I would not be interested in it.

Maybe you need to decide on who your target audience truly is. Is it the newbie aspiring to write and publish Kindle books?

Or, is it the experienced writer/publishers?

        Both require different approaches.

My suggestion would be focus on newbies - it's the easiest.

Think the squeeze as the first step in your funnel. It is the filter that will bring in the customers you want and filter everyone else.

So... what will you be selling them? do you know who your customer is?

Are they marketers getting into kindle as a business?
Are they writers getting into Kindle as a way to have their works out there?
            Are they starting out?
            Are they savvy already?

Once you have your ideal customer in mind, to figure out what to offer becomes easy.

I would definitely be interested in how to write kindle books that actually sell. I'd really prefer a product that had a segment on product creation, like how to implement various writing skills, and another strong segment on the promotion part of selling a kindle book.

I'm the traffic-obsessed type if you can't tell.

The topics you suggested are good for beginning Kindle authors. Also, beginners always want to know how to select a topic.

If you are trying to appeal to more experienced authors, you might try more specific topics such as how to decipher Kindle sales rankings or what it takes to get Kindle to suggest your book to "people who purchased x, also bought y."

The only one that would have appealed to me when I started would be the Kindle guide. I've got maybe a dozen PDF Kindle guides on my hard drive and most of them are pretty lame. People are banging them out like popcorn.

Maybe I'm not typical but I have a notebook loaded with plot ideas and I add to it all the time. There's not enough time to write half of them.

As for ebook cover templates I'm not sure how they would appeal to Kindle writers. I know some people use 3-D style covers (if that's what you're offering) but they aren't ideal for Kindle. I use large, flat images sized according to Kindle specs.

If you really want to appeal to Kindle writers set up a site for legitimate review swapping. All writers NEED legit reviews and they're not always easy to get. That would be the way I'd go in this market. Good luck.

      That is a great suggestion.
It won't be as automated, because I'll have to personally write each review, but it will be worth it for the conversions.

I'll only be able to review free Kindle books as a verified review, and the rest will have to be unverified reviews (unless they decide to gift me a copy).

As a Kindle author, I know that would be something that I'd be very interested right now, or even when I was a newbie. I'd sign up for an opt-in form with this offer in a heartbeat.

      Thank you for the idea,
I'm going to try it out.

Any ideas for ways that I can automate this method?

How do you put legitimate and swapping in the same phrase?

I mean... yes, we do swap. But it does get into a grey area.

I keep the "self-righteous" part of me at bay in these cases by only swapping with people I would read and review anyway. But, lets face it... if a person reviews something for any other purpose than providing information to other possible buyers, it gets out of original intent of the reviews.

I've seen sites where people are able to post what they're looking for. For example, you might find a post that reads: I've got a time travel novel needing reviews. I'll be glad to review your, adventure novel, crime, thriller, zombie, etc. Please, no erotica, blah blah blah...

This model can work though it would take some hands on attention from the operator.

Yeah, I see your point. I´m thinking it would be interesting to be able to make triangulation instead of swapping.

I would go with the Kindle guide that shows people how to sell their books. The other two are great, but not everyone writes fiction or wants to make ebook covers.

In my opinion, many people (here in this forum, at least) have now moved on from Kindling 101 -- meaning, most people already know how to publish. These days it's probably best to provide answers to more pressing matters, such as :

    - How to spot profitable niches or minimize the chances of publishing non-sellers
    - How to bypass the "adult content" filter for erotic books
    - How to maintain a steady income or increase it without having to write 50k+ novels (by writing about trendy subjects and using up-to-date phrases, for example)
    - How to get a ton of genuine book reviews in simple, yet effective ways
    - How to crack into "tougher" niches (maybe by creating a series, plus building a loyal readers list, for example)

BTW, your book template offer sounds nice.

I'm thinking that I'll do a different landing page for different authors depending on the audience I'm targeting.
I plan to put my landing page on the thank you pages of other peoples' products, so I'll choose a different offer & different landing page that best fits that product.
I may try solo ads in the near future as well, and for that I will likely offer up a combination of all these things.
Can I buyer good solo ads in the Kindle niche? Anyone?

      Thank you

I would think the guide is the best idea, but it depends if you are targeting complete newbies or not. Kindle guides can be found everywhere (from rehashed PLR, to inexpensive books on the Kindle store itself) so anyone who might have done a bit of research might have already downloaded several 'how to' books. Either that or offer a Kindle guide as planned, and also offer a reworded advanced 'Kindle Strategy' book for more advanced (ie: not complete newbies) readers.

The best answer is to test this for yourself. Spend a few dollars on AdWords, testing your different ideas against each other, and see which one gets the best response in practice.

The first idea you have listed about the guide, I don't understand. Books or almost anything are sold (the first time anyway) on the quality of their marketing - not on the book itself. Maybe if you made a guide that showed people how to get great reviews, or how to get the best part of the writing on the the Look Inside feature, or even how to write keyword rich descriptions, that might be pretty cool.
