Giving a free product thru PayPal

Hi,

Is there a way to still go thru a paypal link for an ebook but give the book for free? I want to give some people my ebook but I still want them to go thru my paypal link so that my auto responder can capture their email information.

Regards,
Ken

I don't think that will be possible. You may need to opt for another method to capture with your auto responder.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

PayPal does not have autoresponder functions; You can just setup an optin page and set your followup email (after verifying their subscription to your autoresponder) to contain a nice email with a download link.

Have them pay a penny, and refund it afterwards. I think I understand what you are trying to do, this would be the only way to do it.

Rapid Action Profits, with the Membership/subscription add-on will do that.
However, you mentioned on another thread, that you thought RAP was a little costly.
Do you not have access to OPM? Leverage that, make some profits, pay it back, continue...

Besides blogging about Rapid Action Profits, I have Tweeted about RAP too!
    It ROCKS!

    Be Well!

P.S. Oops, I thought it was you, GR, who had made the observation
about the expense of RAP, it was Spinethetic though...

      Actually Dave,

(and I know you know this)

The Membership Add On is not required for this. Standard RAP has this functionality using a "COMP" sale.

This is also an option if the OP sets up JV partners. A free copy of the product can be provided and update links can be mailed to the JV list using the in-built broadcast mail features.

Ha! Yes, Sid I know/knew that...

I don't believe the OP has Rapid Action Profits though...
That's the reason for the "extra" explanations...

Of course, I encourage folks to get Rapid Action Profits as it is the "dog's bark",
the "cat's meow", and the next best thing since sliced bread...

P.S. Of course Sid, thanks for pointing that out, in case I had forgotten it...

RAP is awesome thing. I am missing that, need to go and buy it . BTW, PayPal is for sending money, Money has value and therefore its not possible. However, you may use Aweber and make then optin and send your free product. So You get new subscribers at the same time

    Hope I helped ya out

    G'day,

Thanks for all the quick replies. Maybe I should clarify just a bit. I want to give my book to several individuals because they helped me out by sending me photos to use in my book. But I still want them to get into my auto responder. I will present it to them offering them a chance to register their product for free lifetime updates.

    Hey Ken,

Just email them the book, and manually add their email address to your list...

Not sure how to give them 'lifetime updates' though (cause it depends on how your program's set up)

Make a list in your A/R setup... Just for them...
Set the 1st email to go out, to include the link to download the ebook...

Have them email to the A/R address a "blank" mail...
After they "confirm" the 1st mail is sent,
they are added to your list... Done!

    Be Well!

    ECS Dave,

OK would it be possible to have that first email included the download link AND the confirmation for the opt in, instead of having to send a blank email? It could state something like 'click here if you want to register for free products updates for life otherwise just ignore'.

Possibly, depends on the policies at your A/R service...

The thing is, if they click the link to just download your offering,
they don't get opted in, and getting one click is great, getting two?

The goal, as I understand it, is to get folks on your "list"...
The easiest way (especially with the "limits" set earlier)
is with the -- make a exclusive list at your A/R, instruct
the "exclusive" receivers of your ebook to email the list
address, confirm the email they receive, get the download
      in the 2nd email.

Alternatively, create a form, direct them there...
Same result, confirmation email, then download
      one...

The A/R services that actually get the emails
you want to send, delivered, are beginning to
REQUIRE the double optin, due to SPAM complaints.

It's a best bet. After all, you DO want those emails
      read, don't you?

      Be Well!

I would recommend skipping Paypal if the sale is completely free, and just using RAP as Sid suggested or an autoresponder sequence.

Yep, skip Paypal. I investigated the same thing and couldn't make it work.
