It would really depend on the website, the monetization model, etc. But generally, I would invest it in paid advertising and I would track everything.

I'm assuming this also rules out PPC. I'd look at purchasing a targeted email list and sending a well-written message to those targets.

I would use press releases.

Let somebody write them and submit to a certain site (SBwire).

Writing costs $5 and submission in that case (not directly) also $5.

That means for 1,000 bucks I would get 200 press releases written and distributed.

1 press release would get me an average of 200 targeted visitor. That means I would be looking at 4,000 targeted visitors.

On top of that I would get search engine rankings.

That means I would pay $0.25 per targeted visitor. Those visitors are not only targeted but pre-sold.

If I would offer a product or service for lets say $50 on my site and the site would only convert 1% (very low) I would be looking at 40 orders... $2,000 in the box.

Rinse. Repeat.

There is a problem in your math:

200x200 means 40000 visitors.
5$/200 visitors means $0.025

Even fiverr won't charge you for $5 per press submission without the press content.

I would prefer to mix this up rather than using one strategy or begin with a split test.

Before you accept this offer, one thing you should also ask yourself is,
will the press release traffic convert?

The answer can be scary you know..

yes, I have tried press releases and they only fill some needs but not others. I have a friend that has been able to get stories published directly in newspapers like the LA Times, and that has been a lot more effective than a blanket release that goes to everybody, but is so often ignored.

Either Solo Ads/Banner ads to a lead capture page!

I actually just send my blog posts to my list. Its a great way to build an actual following because you have the ability to instantly get your website in front of the people that stay on your list every day.

Pretty much instant, daily, targeted traffic to your website, on which you can sell/promote whatever.

Social media ads are first choice for getting cheaper but targetted and quality traffic, and PPV, Banner ads Solo ads, are good too. But still SEO is necessary.

seo is certainly not "necessary"

I don't really do deliberate seo at all. I focus on other avenues for getting traffic and building my list.

However I do rank for random stuff just from random social signals....I look at seo traffic as "extra" traffic.

seo is just one way of getting traffic....of which there are many.

You don't have to stress out over it all the time to make money doing this stuff.

(just my opinion though)
