How to promote a business online/in forums by protecting owner identity/anonimity?

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is better (safer) for an online business that plans to promote their company/business on forums such as WF.

According to several threads I have read in this forum like thread1 or thread2 ,the trend seems to be to protect owners identity while running an online business.

My problem is that I run a company in England and I would like to propose our business service equally in forums such as the present one.

It seems that even by using a nominee director, companies house publish the true owner name on their website and as a result this last is shown/indexed in google.

In fact I do not have any problem in promoting my business on linkedin but I find a forum such as Warrior Forum more intimidating.

Also, should I just promote the company services in forums (I will have to show our portfolio and also our company website) just using the usual business name or should I use a trading name or try to use a pen-name for the owner?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Booster

I see on your profile that you have just joined Warrior Forum one or two days ago, but I would like to know what make you believe that I am over thinking things (I hope you have read the links in my first post).

You can, but you'll probably find yourself getting banned very quickly.
This forum, has a classified ads section where you can pay for an ad.
Promoting on the main forum here won't go down very well.

I don't think it would be a problem if you wanted to hide your name. You don't have to put your company name in the ad section if you are providing a service. You can just say you and your team will do this or that and list the packages and what service you provide in each package.

As far as portfolios you could just provide work samples to the one's that request them.

All the best with more success to you!

Yes, but for better marketing/credibility purpose I think it may be better to provide the website link.

In fact, I have a competitor (he is a neighbor that has just started and just copy everything I try to do with my business) so now I am trying to better protect myself against envy/jealousy [even I do not earn a lot at the moment, some people I know, start a kind of jealousy as soon they learn that you run a business (one has even successfully damaged my business since I was paying him to collect my postal mails for me when I was traveling...but he was destroying some of them or blackmailing me for more money)] .

The above advice from createyouwealth will certainly resolve the neighbor/competitor issue.

Unless trying to defraud or plagiarize, you can call your business whatever you like - but if you're asking people to send you their money, it's perfectly reasonable that you should be expected to provide, at the very least, accurate and up-to-date contact details.

This is the case with any offline business. It shouldn't be any different online.

When you buy something offline, you do not usually know the owner name.

But, it is true that the customer may certainly know the owner name if they pay using the company paypal account.

Anyway, I have to think about it few more days before I decide.
