Getting Started help & Advice

Hi All,

This is a great community and in the few short week I've been a member I've come across some real quality content on the forum.

I've a couple of things I would like some advice & guidance on please.

First off are the any benefits for a complete beginner joining the War room? I have seen a lot of posts saying how great it is, and how much benefit others have found from joining. But as a complete beginner is this something that would help me. Having not even decided on the best approach for me to get started.

This brings me to my next question, to help me get started and find some direction. There are so many ways to make money online is really like to hear from those who make a living full time online as this is where I'm aiming. My question is in a few parts.

1. What exactly did you do to get started and are you still doing the same thing?

2. When you began realistically how much time per day would you say is needed to get going are 4/5 hr days or more needed to get going? What would you suggest is a realistic amount of time to spend on building a iM business.

3.Are you just using multiple strategies or multiple streams of income online or just one core area of business.

Thanks in advance for all help and advice,

Dusty196

Hi Dusty, i take it the post also goes out to people who are not making a full time living from internet marketing?

I started online a couple of years ago now I tried CPA marketing and then moved to affiliate marketing, the trouble i found was that i didnt stick to one thing, i hop around all over the place buying tutorial products that teach me the different areas.

If for example you want to try affiliate marketing stick to it before moving on, dont give up when you dont see results straight away.

This forum is really helpfull, people answer your questions really quickly and ive made some good connections with people on the forum and ive only been an active member for a month or so.

Maybe figure out what your interests are, with affiliate marketing i got stuck and gave up because i found a niche i had no interest in at all, and trying to write articles and be active with socia media around a subject you have no interest in is really difficult, I chased the profits rather than providing real value.

I think its important to try and earn money online not just make money, by giving value and helping people.

Im not an expert just sharing my thoughts, im in a similar position to you, on my journey to make money online. Let me know if you need any help or advice and good luck.

    Cheers

    Rick

First find something you are good at and to which you could dedicate your time. You will have to keep up with it on your own, even without incentives for starters so you must at least be passionate about this and like it.

I gave this 4-5 hours a day as a web content writer with another full time job as well. But you need to invest as much time as the amount of money you want to make.

I have owned many products and affiliate programs and nothing last forever. You always have to do research and keep your finger on the pulse of what converts well online. just find the things you are passionate about and products you would use yourself. then go for it.

    1. What exactly did you do to get started and are you still doing the same thing?

I began by doing small tutorials explaining products I used and also promoting them in Youtube.

    2. When you began realistically how much time per day would you say is needed to get going are 4/5 hr days or more needed to get going? What would you suggest is a realistic amount of time to spend on building a iM business.

Not sure! It I never really counted the amount of time but probably 12 hours per day.

3.Are you just using multiple strategies or multiple streams of income online or just one core area of business.

I build websites and promote products.

Last piece of advice. Don't waste too much time reading and reading more. That will only confuse you. Have a plan and start taking immediate action. You will fail but that part of the process of learning how to succeed.

Good question. While there are some good things to be found there, I think, for a complete beginner, it may be more of a distraction than a help.

    1. What exactly did you do to get started and are you still doing the same thing?
I started with affiliate marketing (building sites and driving traffic to them), and I still do that. Of course, my methods have evolved over the years.

    2. When you began realistically how much time per day would you say is needed to get going are 4/5 hr days or more needed to get going? What would you suggest is a realistic amount of time to spend on building a iM business.
Like anything else, the more time you put in, the faster you will see results. You have to treat this as a business. If you treat it like a hobby it will be reflected in your results. IM is not a get rich quick business. You need to put in the work. How long and how often is up to you, but the more time you put in, the sooner you will see results.

3.Are you just using multiple strategies or multiple streams of income online or just one core area of business.

I use multiple strategies. However, I suggest you start with one focused strategy until you make it work, and understand WHY it works (or is not working). Then you can branch out into other areas and strategies. The worst thing you can do, as a beginner, is to try and implement a lot of different strategies at the same time.

Another option is to go the other way, and develop specific, specialized skills and focus all your effort on that and outsource your other work, or outsource yourself to others.

The War Room is a great place to join but I would say that in the beginning just get your feet wet on the various forums here. As you start to dive in, you'll naturally develop some curiosities towards some methods. So take lots of good notes and bookmark key threads. As things start to gel and you see recurring patterns among threads, then you can dive into the War Room and start looking at EVEN MORE blueprints to have fun with!

As for what did I first start doing.....Well, years ago I was promoting extremely low gravity ClickBank products on review sites revolved around low competition keyword phrases. I miss those days because back then you could really be one step ahead of Google. Whereas now you feel many times that you are two steps behind!

Having 4-5 hours per day is helpful but you would be amazed by how much momentum you can build up in a business with a solid 2 hours per day.

And finally, I'm definitely diversified and really that's the ultimate goal. It's hard to do that at first but it gets easier over time as you have other systems to support you.

    1. I started with graphic design and web design. I do that but much less than before.
    2. If I spent 4 hours a day I would have starved before my company turned a profit lol.
    3. Most of my revenue is from SEO. I make a decent chunk of change every time I set up a ppc campaign. Especially with display ads.

I started a local company directed at local businesses, so if I could go back and change anything it would have been to social network more than I did. The technical stuff can get sorted out anytime. But social ties to those in your target audience is how sales are made. At least in my neck of the woods.

Hey counselor, I was wondering what are some way you target you real life prospects? cold calling, walking in etc? there is such a disconnect between sm biz, and things like websites social media integration and mobile app's seems like something good to look into

I think the key is to have your hands in a few things, dont overwhelm or stretch yourself thin...

Search Engine Optimization and Pay Per Click Ads have brought me the most leads. Search Marketing has showcased my abilities to marketing agencies, who outsource specific tasks to my company. Usually search related, but sometimes web design and various graphic arts.
The one thing that has brought me 0 business that I had high hopes for was the Chamber of Commerce. I would say that if you join a Chamber of Commerce as established and powerful as my city has, you'd need to take advantage of the press releases and leverage local media.
I plan on doing some mainstream advertising in the next few months, which will be a temporary PR campaign. The unpaid organic clicks I get beat everything by a long shot.
I haven't tried cold calling nearly enough to pass judgement. From what I understand, it's incredibly effective for those that know how to do it well.
Hope that answer your questions well.

To start I find the war room well worth it. There is a ton of great content and some good advice.

If you are getting started I think it is important to learn the fundamentals first. I have a section on my site that can help you with that. I have a link in my signature to my site and the section you want to go to is Marketers Need to Knows.

This section goes over the basics and what you should know before you get started.

WF is one of the best places to get answers to your questions but it doesn't always make it easy to know where to start.

You made the first step and that is not to be afraid to ask questions

You must also learn to have thick skin. People hear are very straight and to the point which is good. Get used to criticism and you will do fine.

Good luck to you we all know what it is like to get started..
