Could someone who tried BOTH affiliate programs tell me what are the pros & cons of each?
And all in all which one is better in terms of flexibility and money making?

I'll be a little biased because I've tasted success with Amazon affiliate program. I tried eBay when I had just started IM so wasn't aware of a lot of tactics back then.

Cause of the new eBay policy they have now 24h cookie too. But as eBay is an auction site then most of the stuff are bought in days or weeks so the cookie is mostly useless. As Amazon is the most known online store the 24h cookie works way better.

    Cheers

I have tried both. Amazon is great in the sense they will take payment for you and pursue the customer with any concerns. But the independence in Ebay is actually nice with payment if you set up your Paypal or other means correctly. I had issues with Amazon when a customer complained about something I could have easily fixed if the customer had contacted me directly, and it took time to rebuild my good seller status.

I LOVED the Amazon affiliate program, until they dumped me because of Illinois' internet tax law (which has been overturned recently by the Illinois Supreme Court!).

With Amazon, I was getting paid monthly. Not a lot, but enough to pay for my (former) blog's hosting and have some left over for profit.

I've never tried the Ebay affiliate program, so I can't speak about them. I will only say that I think Amazon has the better reputation of the two (imho).

Amazon of course! This is one of the most popular affiliates. Ebay Affiliate program is not so huge, plus there are people making a living with amazon affiliate program, but I haven't heard of anyone who is making good money from ebay affiliate. If you are just starting out I suggest you to go with Amazon.

I make WAY more with ebay than with Amazon.
Amazon only gets me a few cents per month (if i'm lucky).

eBay has been a disaster since October 1st with their new program and affiliates are dumping it like crazy. Check out the uproar in their affiliate forum. Right now as I write, affiliate earnings have not been posted for several days without any explanation. Not that affiliates are now making that much anyway.

On the other hand, there are certain niches where eBay is going to have products that Amazon will not.

As a program, Amazon has been steady throughout the years, without constant changes wrecking affiliate websites like eBay likes to do every couple years, and is trusted by many.

A few cents! What on Earth are you selling?

I suggest you look for products to sell that are worth more than $3.

Amazon is definitely the way to go for first time affiliates. Ebay is very strict with who it allows in its program from what I've heard and they seem to be veering away from any kind of program as the years go by.
