Give them what they want and they will pay for it

Knowing your customers' desires is the foundation of your business. Let me put it really simple; if you know what your target audience really need and want, you can build a business. But, if you know how to exploit their deepest desires, you can build a Fortune500 company. Simple as that.

There are two types or businesses; those who know their customers' desires and those who know how to exploit them to the fullest. There is no need to explain which one is more successful, right? By knowing how to exploit the desires, you are on the road to unlimited success. But how to exploit their desires? Here is how; the nice way, or the nasty way. If you play nice, then you'll probably fail. Besides, all of your competition is playing nice already, so why would you do it the same? To be a success, you have got to become nasty, simple as that.

Example 1: if you want to sell security software, then you'll have much better success with scared online newbies than security experts, right?
Example 2: if you want to sell paid memberships for your dating site, your target audience should be older men, inticed by your virtual playboy-alike bunnies.
Example 3: if you want to sell sunglasses, create a celebrity blog, post pictures or celebs with your sunglasses, go to teen forums, create a hot teen girl account and post comments on how popular you are because you're wearing xyz sunglasses of that celebrity.

So, what have you learned from the examples above? By knowing your customers' desires, you can create a marketing plan, which hits them in the heart and mind, leaving them no choice to say No. Remember, there is always a way to sell something. The only question is, to what extent are you prepared to go, e.g. how much do you want to sell? I think we both know the answer to this, right?

Your input is highly appreciated

To look at it from another angle: many marketers fail because they don't position wants as needs. People always rise up to their 'musts.' They hardly rise up to their 'shoulds.' Needs are all about musts and wants are all about shoulds.

...and how much of a lier you want to be. Unfortunately, because sometimes the products/services for sale are so bad, their only chance is this scoundrel marketing.

    1) That your view of marketing is decidely short-term.
    2) That you need to study more businesses. Hint: there are more than the two types you cite, and even those two aren't mutually exclusive.

Being "nasty" as you put it, is not only a miserable way to spend a life, it's also poor business. You won't build any worthwhile, long-term success by showing contempt for your customers.

Once upon a time, you might have been considered a successful internet marketer by organizing your business this way, now - these are all the earmarks of a thief. Stealing people's time and money by exploiting their weaknesses. If you think that is what the Warrior Forum is for, that is a real problem.

Due to many scams, people are now more cautious and they don't buy no matter what. The market has evolved and this behavior is normal. You have to provide better and better products.

I think you should base your assesment on a deeper level.

Example: Old guy looking to date hot bunnies

    -> Why?

    Fun/Entertainment

-> Might the old guy be interested in other sorts of entertainment?

    Yes

-> Cigars, Whiskey maybe even video games?
