Advice regarding articles published on Bukisa

by Andrea21 13 replies
Hi

I've recently learned that Bukisa are no longer a revenue share site. I have a few hundred articles on their site and wonder if I should use this content to create my own sites? If so, how soon after removing the content will it be deindexed in the search engines and when can I start putting it elsewhere?

Thanks

    Hi Andrea,

I'm not on Bukisa, but have hundreds of articles on Squidoo. And many of my fellow Squids do publish on Bukisa and other places, and the issue came up about moving articles to other sites.

Here's what they do (and I believe the same would be the case for Bukisa).

First... are you planning to remove your articles from Bukisa? If so, I would save them first, then delete them over there, and then set them up on your own site.

As far as Google goes - I think they're fairly quick about de-indexing deleted articles. So I'd just check every once in a while and then post yours once they're gone.

Also, make sure you check Bukisa's TOS to make sure you stay on their good side, so they won't delete your account before you're done copying all your content...

    Good luck!

You've got hundreds of articles...and your idea is to put them on Bukisa?

Colour me confused here, but wouldn't it be a much better idea to use those articles on your OWN site, leverage your experience/authority, and sell your own products, instead of being paid a dollar or two per day from a platform that you have absolutely NO control over and that can remove your content at ANY time that it pleases?

" " is putting it very mildly and very tactfully indeed.

Some would even go so far as to say " ".

Some (more outspoken than myself, of course) might even mention " ".

      This, indeed.

I can only suppose that people imagine that they somehow gain something from allowing someone else's site to share their money with them, instead of building a business for themselves rather than for someone else. This particular post happens to be about Squidoo rather than Bukisa, but the principle involved, from the user's perspective, is the same: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8109462

Only if you want to build their business rather than yours. On your own site, for sure!

If you read the question you will realise that my articles are already on Bukisa. They used to be a revenue share site. I was asking advice about what to do with those articles now that they are no longer sharing their revenue with article writers.

I think everyone replying and trying to help you appreciated that, Andrea.

          Let me be clearer:

If you are just putting up the articles to make a few dollars because you have another career or have absolutely NO interest in being serious about making money online, then putting them up on another rev share site is fine - if you don't care about the possibility of the site suddenly shutting down, or of them locking your content for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

If you actually intend to make a decent living from your writing, then the only sensible thing to do would be to use your content on your own site.

I don't have an issue with people using rev share sites - but if you are at all serious about making money by writing (and it appears that you are, since you have hundreds of articles) then rev share sites are NOT the way to do so.

Sorry if I was a bit harsh/unclear in my first reply.

            DTGeorge,

I agree with what you are saying. At the time, it seemed like it was a good idea. They are on random topics and despite them being on someone else's site, they earned me something. I was learning about how to write keyword articles and ranking them in the search engines. I have to admit I am struggling now and don't know what to do really.

I always appreciate people replying with advice. I think that DTGeorge thought I was asking whether it would be a good idea to place the articles on Bukisa. I was trying to make it clear that they've been on Bukisa a while but they are no longer earning any income.

With regard to earning money online, I would prefer to have the articles on my own site.

Revene sharing sites are no doubt a good option, but I agree, if you have well written articles you can earn good money if you put them on your own site.

I'm always stuck on choosing a niche which is why I started writing on revenue share sites.
