Outsourcing - Campaign Specifics & Achievement Strategy.

Seeking a few tips/advice from the more experienced (thanks):
My goal is to seek highly skilled marketers on Elance (or equiv.) who can set up targeted traffic systems and promotional campaigns for a high-converting affiliate product. I have tested this product and have made a number of sales already, from my own somewhat unskilled marketing efforts.

With a more professional approach I'm sure the sales potential could be greatly increased and expanded on. I have a decent budget to spend but am wondering how I access the best talent in order to successfully capitalise on the stated offer.

Solo ads, Facebook ads, Adwords and video marketing are my favoured marketing options to outsource but I am open to other suggestions. Maximising ROI is the obvious goal sought and effective viral marketing campaigns are desired.

I am a big believer in delegating marketing tasks to those who are more skilled than I so that I can achieve better outcomes. Anyone on WF especially experienced in team-based marketing who can offer some pearls of wisdom? Would you recommend I start small and test the aptitudes of the outsourced talent before scaling up? Can payment be withheld if reasonable profit objectives aren't met? Thanks.

I don't get it. You are trying to outsource traffic generation or are you trying to recruit promoters for your product? Or is the title of this thread an ltkw?

No, title is not an intentional longtail keyword. Those types of SEO strategies are usually employed by more savvy and experienced marketers, from what I know. One of the main reasons I like to outsource (topic of thread) is that I am not a particularly gifted or experienced IM'r.

The best people do the best work etc. Any other comments? (thanks)

Thanks Writeaway. To be really specific, I want the product to be found by its ultimate target market. Hope this clarifies.

Hi David, delegating marketing tasks can be a great way for you to save time and focus on what is important. If this is the way you want to go for, selecting the best team should be carefully done in order not to compromise your business. 3 things to consider when choosing the talent, Attitude, Skills and Knowledge.

Starting small will do just so you could minimize the risk and can evaluate as well if they are more than fit enough for the project.

Payment withholding when profit is not reached is not reasonable at all because you will be paying them for the services they are going to offer and this is where everyone makes a living. Definitely, this will not work.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need some assistance on outsourcing.

      Thanks jjmags1219,

The comment concerning withholding of payment touches on the fact that some freelance sites seem to be fine with non-payment if the work isn't done to a satisfactory standard. I am successfully selling the stated product myself but wish to shift a higher volume. If a freelancing 'expert' doesn't achieve certain sales expectations, eg they fail to sell more than what I have, I won't feel inclined to renumerate them. Fair's fair!

Hi David, Yes, that works for some like web design & development, some may go for milestone payment. It works also for telemarketing campaign, like freelancers get an hourly rate + commission based. With this kind of setup, this is most feasible with Joint Ventures.

    Hey David,

My business partner and I run our company from Davao City, Philippines and have a nearly 40-strong team here we use to grow our biz. We've written and spoken quite a bit about outsourcing and virtual teams - you can find most of that here:

    EF Outsourcing Content

I'd really check out the articles on Standard Operating Procedures and Building Human Machines. (Also hiring your first VA if you're just getting started)

Ultimately, building teams into our business has been the differentiation between a side gig/hustle and building a long-term, sustainable business. The way to get a team to grow your business without as much input from you is through baking "process" into your business effectively.

    Hi, David,

If you're looking for freelancers, there are a few I've tried, so hopefully you can get a little more info. You mentioned Elance, which is huge has a whole lot of listings. It's definitely well known, so a lot of people use it. In my experience, it's good for getting jobs done quickly, but it's an over-populated site, which makes it hard to differentiate good writers. A tip: use the rating system. It's a big help in finding quality writers.

If you're looking for someplace that will yield higher quality results (though there are a lot less people on there), I recommend Ebyline. The cost is often more than on Elance, but the quality of work is higher overall. Freelancers have to complete an application process to join, and there are a lot of vetted professionals on there with good experience so there's little oversight. They know how to do their jobs well.

On the opposite end of the scale, there's also Fiverr, which gets you cheap (starting at $5) and quick work-- but there's also a lot more room for error. It's best for bulk jobs, like outreach. You get what you pay for, but if you're looking for something cheaper done quickly and you don't mind having to edit things yourself, it can be pretty convenient.

Hope some of that helped. Good luck!

  • About withholding payment, yes, some outsource workers do agree with it but be prepared to be shot down by most.

There are too many scam artists there who con freelancers to work for free. So even if you approach a skilled marketing specialist who is sure to get more business for you, he/she may not agree to work for you if there's no guarantee.

A joint venture might be the best option for you.
