Which is the best way to monetize your blog?

In adressing this question and topic for discussion I am thinking about affiliate marketing or pay per click advertising. To be more specific, I want us to consider the big shots i.e. clickbank and google adsense. I have over the years being more inclined to using google adsense than clickbank products but i have recently started to consider using more clickbank products adverts than adsense.

I am now coming to a conclusion that you have more chances of making more money from clickbank products especially the membership products that offer recurring commissions. The most obvious reason for choosing recurring commission products is that you will continue to get the commissions everytime the customer is rebilled. You cannot do that with google adsense.

Another drawback for google adsense is that in case of your account being banned then you will be in deep deep problems. If Clickbank bans your account you can easily replace it with equally beneficial affiliate products from clickbank competitors. It is not wise to put all your eggs in one basket. If you use adsense combine it with affiliate marketing products so that if anything happens it will not be the end of the world for you.

I am however open to differing opinions to my current position. Lets discuss!
#adsense #blog #clickbank #clickbank ads #monetize

Try having your own review site and then each post be a SEO-optimized post about a different clickbank product. Then use a Fiverr gig and create A LOT of pyramid and .edu and .gov backlinks to your site. But above all, make it recurring. Nothings better then a paycheck in your paypal account from something you peddled a year ago

Hi mrhelpful, Thanks for your contribution. I however have a few questions for your. who writes your review articles, do you use fiverr or do you write them yourself? And what is your experience of pyramids in the age of google hummingbird? Do they still work. Thanks in advance.

That is exactly what I have personally found out as well.i am at the moment focusing on combining adsense and affiliate marketing. In terms of conversion adsense is the best as google are very good at targeting the visitors to my blog. For affiliate marketing, review articles are the ones that work for me.

Adsense only works if you have a lot of traffic, otherwise the affiliate marketing route is the way to go for newbies and low traffic blogs.

I agree. You can only really ever know if something works or which works by testing it. If you have a niche you can also research the competitors in the niche and see how they're monetizing as a place to start.

And don't forget about building a list too.

You may try out the combination of clickbank, amazon and google adsense. This could also be safer for monetizing google adsense in terms of variations.

build a list send them to affiliate offers, high ticket stuff, your own coaching, your own seminars.

one of our blogs we make $4000 a month by just selling $7 ebooks, in an autoresponder once they subscribe. And its all taken care of in a hidden part of our blog and all automated.

if you are getting lots of traffic to your blog, you could even sell advertising space on the top banner space or down the side, and you could make residual income that way too. There are lots of ways, but these are a few to get you started.

Affiliate blogs are still a good way to earn money.

I would recommend you one service which can give you a hand in updating your blog. It is called RSSGround.com

It will help you generating a feed with products from Amazon, ClickBank and eBay with your affiliate ID already embedded and then gradually posts those products to your blog. You also have a choice of generating news and articles feeds for posting.

Good way of updating affiliate blogs I would say.

      Sam,

Have you considered selling your own product(s) that are based around the same topic of your blog? You didn't mention this . . . maybe because you don't think you could create a product. But having control over your own product lets you make 100% on every sale as well as giving you some authority in your niche.

There are all kinds of ways to create your own product including ghostwriters, PLR, licensing other's products for your own use, etc. There is no good excuse for not having your own product to sell.

With Adsense, affiliate products, and the like, you are always going to be relying on others for your business.

No doubt you've heard of marketers with very small lists that are making big income. I can tell you they are doing it with their own products/services, not as sellers of other people's stuff.

Thanks for your advice. With your own product you have almost total control. I remember promoting a product I later learnt had been removed from clickbank. I had not been checking my links to see if the product was still on clickbank

It really depends on the niche of the blog and the target group - for example, gaming blogs tend to do great with CPA (from what I've experienced).

Other blogs might do better with stuff such as Adwords.

You will have to try a bit and see what works best

    Cheers!

Like some of the others who replied, I have never done well with Adsense. But then I didn't do well with anything online until I learned to limit my focus and conduct my own tests. Despite all the programs I bought that were supposed to be the "answer," for me it came down to taking the time to learn to do 2 things effectively: (1) Generate traffic and (2) Convert traffic.

That allowed me to then decide whether I wanted to direct it to List Building or CPA Offers in order to earn income.

I now apply the 80/20 rule to my efforts accordingly. Most of my IM time is spent on those 2 activities. I currently drive traffic to blog landing pages, squeeze pages, and CPA offers, but do almost nothing with Adsense.

Now I don't rely on adsense alone, as you also mentioned, I do mostly membership products on clickbank, it is something that can benefit in the long run.
Otherwise you also can build up lists if you have good traffic generation techniques.

Of course there is no one way of making money from your blog. Some rely on adsense although you need a lot of traffic to make a living from it. And some like me believe that to make serious money with little traffic then affiliate marketing is the way to go. especially if you go for membership products which usually have recurring income.

      Hi,

Many have pointed you in the right direction which is not looking at the visitor as a one time prospect rather building a list where you can get multiple opportunities of selling him something. Please note that once you own your customers you can market to them in multiple ways. You can sell your products to them, offer affiliate products that interest them. Post a new blog post and ask them to interact with your web properties etc.

You can never rely on adsense solely for your earning stream. Because google have got the right to ban your account without any prior notice. Once your account is banned, you can never think to get it back.

Whatever you use it should be neutral. Do not use it as an invitation to purchase or just "Buy me, buy me, buy me." Write text, and only in the context add a link to the product. Do not force visitors to buy. If someone visits your page it just means that you are interested in this topic. And you've already done half the job.
