How Many Websites Do You Guys Have?

Just interested to know how many sites people around here have going. No matter how big or small, they all count.

I'll say that right now I have 3 going but most of my time is spent learning and doing stuff away from the internet so I don't actually spend much time on any of them.

In the future I'm going to try and do this full time and have more websites on the go.

Our team has built over 3K niche websites for ourselves, for customers, etc. There's no way my partner or I could manage that many sites, so we've built a team of people to do most of that for us.

Ultimately, it's not about the number of sites you've built, though...it's about your total revenue and profit margins. Plenty have people have done as well (or better) than us with much less sites, hehe.

It's not about the number of sites you own but how many brings home the beacon.

I have seen a lot of cases where people own 100 of sites in the name of networks or whatever. It's all nothing but huge distractions and you won't do justice to any of them.

Rather I would suggest focusing on one or two mega site and pulling in all your resources and also take it one step at a time.

I've had hundreds - now I have 8 main ones and make "throw away" ones to hit particular markets/niches now and then. Concentrate in 4 niches - 8 websites most of the time though.

Great to see how many different ways their are

I've got many; one approach I've found helpful is that whenever I have a new product or service I a) check that the name isn't trademarked/already in use somewhere, b) register the domain (and closely related names/plurals).

It helps me keep track of projects, like having different subdirectories on my hard drive, to have different new sites for each new product or service.

I used to own 1200+ domain names, I've since cut that down to 700+ in recent years, letting go the longer ones or ones in niches I'm no longer interested in pursuing. Of that, many dozens are active as standalone sites.

How do you pay for all of them? Aren't domains approx. $10 a year, or am I missing something?
      Thanks

The number of the sites you have does not matter too much, what's more importaant is how profitable they are

I got 2 fairly large and profitable websites. Few sites making a lot of money each > Many sites making $5 a day.

I have 1 business website -- which is still in the works.

I used to manage several niche websites but found out later on that I can't keep up with all the tracking, optimizing and developing content. It's a great lesson for me because I realized that I do better when I focus on one thing at a time. So at the moment, while I can write articles and do SEO, I've focused on providing just social media marketing to people. As with the previous comments, at the end of the day it's not the number of websites you have but the value you put in your business even if it's just one.

I used to to run 15-20 adsense websites which brought me in a modest monthly income most of which i ended up selling becasue i did'nt have the time to spend topping them up with fresh content anymore.I have now stripped right back and am currently building a couple to compliment a new venture.I aim to dedicate most of my resources on these couple and see what that brings.I am also thinking of making a few product based websites in the very near future.

I have about 100 so far. I built a sitebuilder software that helps me build a site in about 10 minutes using templates. I plan to build 3/day and reach 1000.

Question: how do you promote/market if you have so many websites?

It's interesting to see the variety here.

I have always had the plan of having one or two big sites that occupy my time and then several other sites that I will add articles to every now and then.

I have 4 right now but working to bring the number to just one or 2. I learn from a mentor I trusted so much that having many websites is just confusion and does not work right. There is nothing like having everything in one place. Driving traffic to one place; Driving your discussion to one place, making your website a complete network. That is what the internet marketing is all about.

I have over 1,500 websites. The main core of that is my SEO testing sites which I have in blocks of 10, all testing different things and I had a custom software program and database created that interfaces with all 1,500 of the test sites and also helps me track SEO changes down to the miniscule level.

I would agree its not really how many you have, as to how they are utilized. I have about 12 just because they are really good two word sites. Some with CPA offers
I found an awesome way to find sweet 2 letter domains for any keyword if you wanted to include it in your site name.

I only own a few sites.

    And I BALL.

It's not how many sites you own that makes your paycheck. It's your level of knowledge in your particular niche and how you go about promoting your product. (whatever that is)

I had more than ten I think. Sold some of them and lost most of them in the first penguin update. Now I'm slowly building back up...

Currently it's just one website that's making me sales now and then. Working on two others at the moment as well, so hopefully the number of money making websites will increase soon. But it takes time to do it right, so it's just about putting that grind in day in day out. : )
