Aweber's threshold is .001 or max of 1 complaint per 1000 members. If you are getting too msny complaints, see if there is a tight fit between what you say in your optin forms and the rmails you actually send. You can also try double optin.

That is bad news indeed. What kind of updates where you sending? How where you recruiting people? Even if you use a different ar company, you would still get shutdown if you don't change your update practices. That is the sad truth.

im very close to giving up on this - i don't get why all these contacts are keyword targeted from google for the IM or mmo niche - i think i just need to be for creative and show them more value

This is a small business obstacle. Why don't you work with Aweber to find out what is triggering this? If you don't find out what specifically might be triggering this, you could run into this issue again.

It always helps to have another set of eyes looking at what you're sending out.

Can you see who is complaining? Cut that person off then. Why complain if you have opted in? Strange People??

Gary Ambrose has a service that might suit you. On the WF he is GaryTheAce and I think his current project is called ListWire. I don't know anything about it except that Gary is a longtime email marketer and maybe his service might work better for you.

I have heard good things about SendGrid although I have never personally used their service. It seems quite reasonable in price.

        Good luck,

They're automatically removed after complaining, so at least you know that you don't have to deal with them again...

While you make your decision, go ahead and backup your subscriber database, and modify your list settings to have all new subscribers info be sent to an email address of yours.

People are always going to forget they've subscribed to your list and be too eager to report as sp*m or other complaint. If this helps, here's something I do as a matter of routine to all follow-up and broadcast messages to help remind people they really have subscribed.

At the top of every email - before the greeting/main content - I include a few lines to remind them that they have subscribed, from which site (main URL), their name, subscription date, IP number and that if they want to unsubscribe then a one-click unsub link is at the foot of the email.

That's easy to do with the Aweber short codes when putting together the broadcast and perhaps with other providers too.

Not saying it's a magic fix for sp*m complaints though it might help reduce them for the forgetful types....

      Ok, here's my question.

Let's say at 10,000 subscribers you get 3 - 5 complaints per day from one email broadcast each day. Technically that's under their 10 complaints per day cap but how long can this occur before they step in?

I've heard of really big marketers getting accounts with 100,000+ subs shut down for 30 - 50 complaints a day...so there has to be a tipping point. But where is that point?

First, make sure you back up your list just in case Aweber shuts you down.

You could go with a self-hosted autoresponder set-up but even a 3rd party SMTP server will limit your sending limits and ding your mailing reputation if your email practices are generating too many complaints.

Maybe analyzing the type of relationship you have established with your subscribers might be the answer for you.

Can I make a few comments without offending you? I hope so because it's not my intent to offend.

If you are stressing out then it's time to make a change in one way or the other.

I haven't subscribed to your lists so I could be way off base here. If so I apologize in advance. I'm basing my comments on a quick visit to your two websites in your signature. I would NOT want to join your list, though, by the looks of the "information" you have on your websites.

You have the typical get rich quick ads posing as reviews (looked like they were all positive to me - at least the ones I saw), and most of everything in the content looks like spam, scam, and junk. At least that's the feel that anyone with common sense would get. Again no offense.

I would guess that you are attracting the push button, WSO hopping, get rich by Monday crowd. I would further guess that you have a lot of ways you offer to get rich through your reviews and people get overwhelmed with all the many, many ways you are throwing their direction to get rich quick but then it's not all working out for them.

Those kinds of lists are typically built by the churn and burn marketers. They get shut down by Aweber so they go to GetResponse. They get shut down by Paypal so they go to Clicksure. They get shut down again then they change their domain names, get a prepaid credit card to start again with another name, etc. etc. etc.

They aren't in it to add value or to help anyone but themselves and it shows. And they don't care because once one list is burnt they'll just switch it up and get going again another way.

I'm not saying this is what you are doing. I'm saying this is what it appears you are doing from a cursory glance at your two sites. Pushing products that are questionable, not adding real value, not really helping anyone, etc.

Now, if you want to relieve some stress and build a long term business I'd suggest you stop following whatever "mentor" or ebook or course taught you to do it the way you are doing it now and study how Kim Roach, Terry Dean, and Ryan Lee do it. All have long term businesses, all give value, all seem (at least) they are truly trying to help, all have big lists, and all are doing it with Aweber.

    Mark

PS I forgot to mention a couple others - Paul Myers and Neil Patel. I've only been on Neil and Ryan's list a short time but so far so good - building trust, proving credibility, and adding value. The other three I have been subscribed for years and wouldn't think of unsubscribing - much less complaining. And I read them because there is a reason to read them. Now if I were buying something that Paul or Terry or Kim was selling versus Joe ChurnandBurn I would always buy it from the three I "trust". See how that works?
