They have been really promoting it heavily. Good concept with the live feature and per minute charge options.

What kind of services do people normally ask for?

Yeah it looks great from both a customer and service provider perspective.

I wonder how quickly marketers will work out the algo.

Seems like it's going to change the way people do everything and will probably cut into the hip pockets of VET's, GP's etc. Or will it make them more..? lol

If you get your site on their categories, you will get very good links, and that'll lead to a good conversion rate too!

This looks like a profitable idea for anyone who's used to doing Fiverr gigs. I suspect that helpouts will eventually be competing with similar freelancer sites in terms of offering better income potential and even become a lot more popular. It's Google we're talking about after all.

Exactly. But even at $5 a pop, people can make really good money with this. They just need to be creative.

  • I think it's also a great idea to market services. Have an account that provides free basic customer support or one that answers common FAQs about your niche and ultimately lead them to your main site. When you look at their categories they have some of the most popular niches in IM.

    What do you guys think?

Live help in real time is a great concept. I hope it takes off.

This will have its niche, for sure.

However, there is also huge convenience in ordering a gig for example and then waking up next day having it done instead of having to be there online in real-time.

Not everyone lives in the same timezones as we all have experienced once or more in our lives! ;-)

On the other hand, if you need to interact while results are being produced, this is the way to go, Google Helpouts that is.

I will see how my English to Swedish translation services will be like on Google Hangouts.

It requires an invitation code for sign up.
If anyone could send me an invitation on arun_kumar@live.in that will be really appreciated.

I think it is a nice news from Google. More services from Google, more benefits and revenue!

I just want everyone to be aware that this program is out their. Its funny because the more i see the possibility of everyone succeeding online, the harder i see it becoming for people like us. I have come to realize that their are 2 different kinds of people in our industry, those who trust commercial and branded services like what Google is about to do over the next few months and us, those who invest in projects and create authorities in the markets we approach. The more things that come out, i feel the more we are obliged to keep our position. We will inevitably all be looked at as spammers.

With collaboration i believe we can re-dominate the space. Us smart people have to start moving people away from Google and influence them to start using other services. I fell this will prolong our survival.

live virtual golf coaching on the practice tee and even out on the course. take turns w/ your golf partner w/ smartphone videoing your swings for the coach. wear a bluetooth headset for the instructions.

I almost bought a golf tech company a few years ago to pursue this but it was a little early as 2/3g wasn't quite up to par for good smart phone video and not many courses have wifi. A golf cart could be outfitted w/ a pan tilt zoom cam and the golfer wear a bluetooth fob for auto cam tracking. Coach can give golfer instructions in bluetooth audio and use a telestrator for the golfer to view on a small screen on the cart.
