Do I need Premise or Optimizepress yet?

I am looking at the threads and both site for the above but Im not really sure if I need either yet.

I aim to use WP to build a site using a premium template with decent info, An email opt in on my landing page (self written free report)

Awebber to start my list building

I guess the only thing Im not sure of yet is whether I can split test with WP (I know both Premise and OP allow you to do the testing).

This isnt' really clear to me from the threads here.

can someone help out please?

Thanks

    WB,

You don't have to have Premise or OptimizePress to do split testing. Anyone can do it with a WordPress theme as there are ways to do it manually as well as with WP plug-ins (here is just one example.)

High end platforms like Premise may make split testing a little easier or quicker, but you can certainly get by without them if the added convenience isn't worth the extra cost.

    Good luck to you,

    Thanks for that Steve,

So do Is there really an immediate need for either OP or Premise in the early stages or would spending the money make a difference in my progress?
