Bad Fiverr Experience!!!

I used Fiverr lately to promote 1 of my Amazon Kindle books, I have bought gigs from 3 people, all included reviewing the book, and I also paid for "The buy the book" gig which was 5 dollars in all 3 cases (the cost of the book is 99 cents). What happened is after I left positive feedback for all 3 of them 1 out of the 3 people got a refund for the book, which does more harm than anything, so instead of Fiverr helping me promote my book, it probably scared people from buying it. If people see 1 returns out of 3 sales I don't think they will hurry to buy it, right??

    Thank you for letting the community know. At the very least, your bad experience can benefit anyone else who is thinking of doing the same tactics. Maybe a better alternative would be to use Fiverr to raise awareness for your product and do book public relations like major publishers do-but at a bargain basement budget. Just break down the tasks and outsource it to fiverr.

    I'm not 100 percent sure but I think you can change your feedback...
    You can always contact Fiverr Support, they are very efficient!
    And maybe you didn't stress enough when ordering, for the seller not to refund the book...

      The thing is I don't know who is the 1 that got the refund, and I didn't want to bring the issue to support cause i Don't wanna raise issues for the other honest people at Fiverr, I used it before many times, I never had an issue, But I am just gonna stop getting gigs like that (buying the book), that's all, I just brought the issue up here so that fellow worriers be aware.

    Color me confused. Refunds for Kindle books do not show up in any public place. You can only see the refund on your private bookshelf/report section in Amazon.com. How can a private refund affect sales of your book?

      Are you sure? I thought that information is made public and anyone can see it. Plus, usually Amazon promote books based on certain criteria which 1 of them happens to be refunds, so even if the public can't see the refunds Amazon does and it affects your book negatively that way, thanks for the info though.

        Yes I'm sure. I just checked and refunds do not show up for any of my books publicly even though I got one or two. You have nothing to worry about.

    Please explain what you mean by a refund doing more harm than anything or scaring people from buying it. A refund does nothing to your standings.

      I agree with artflair. That's great advice.

      I put a Kindle eBook on a 5-day free download promo (available through KDP Select) and divided the promo days between 2 weeks so the days were staggered.

      Here is what it looked like:

      Week 1: 3-day promo
      Week 2: 2-day promo

      Before the promo, I contacted several popular eBook freebie sites alerting them to my coming sale. I also emailed my list about the promo. The more downloads you get, the higher your popularity because your book rises to the top of the bestseller categories. So, while it may seem that you are losing sales, you are actually gaining longer term profits.

      And as artflair mentioned, you will also gain more Amazon verified reviews. This helps your internal Kindle rankings as well and counts much more than the basic review that is not from an Amazon verified purchase.We doubled our verified reviews in the weeks and months after running the promo and also increased our sales.

    If you want reviews for your ebook, you don't have to pay for them. There are many ways to get free reviews of your book. Just offer the ebook on forums for free download and ask that others leave a review on your Amazon Kindle sales page. Most times, you will get free reviews just by doing that. Another way is to allow a blog owner a free copy of the ebook and ask that they publish a review on your Kindle sales page, rather than just their blog. Just get creative with offering the ebook so you can build your reviews and rise to the top of the book list. That will eventually equal paid sales for you.

      Good advice. Paying for fiverr reviews is so see-through. I've seen the same girl on a few sites now that is wayyy too over-the-top with her testimonials or reviews. I actually never even think to watch video reviews or they don't do anything to persuade me to buy something. Tutorials, demos or information based videos hold so much more weight. Don't you think?

    This will hurt your rankings as will a neg review. Basically, you can go into your ratings section and change it - put that there was a refund from the reviewer. Hope that this can send a message. Refunds is one criteria looked at by amazon. Get too many and you can lose your account even. Certainly, some people on FIVERR um belong in a three ring circus. What was this clown thinking any way.

      Hi,

      That's too bad that that seller did that.

      I would definitely call them out on it and maybe even go so far as telling the next person that you order from not to refund the book.

      There are a lot of good sellers on Fiverr, you can really find great talent and once you find one, you need to stick with them and be very up front about everything.

      With that being said, I don't think that I have ever let a book return cause me not to buy a book. Everyone sees it, you buy a book, give it a good review and then return it just to get your money back.

      It's a miserly thing to do and very dishonest. People will see that happen and they will still buy your book.
