may be you will get some sign ups , but you will lose a lot of money in order for them to convert cause they are not interested .

It is better to focus in targeted to get more results

Yes you can make money from non targeted traffic, but it will be more difficult, and you will get less sales and signups

Have you ever looked to see where your site visitors are coming from?

Chances are pretty good that you can narrow the "non-targeted" traffic you're getting down to a few sources which maybe are targeted.

In other words . . . there's some reason why folks are visiting your site. Focus on that reason and sell a relevant offer of some kind.

Another way to go about narrowing your niche down would be to build an email list then ask your subscribers why they came to your site. That should give you some clues as to what your visitors might be interested in.

I have to tell you . . . this approach (non-targeted traffic monetization) stinks big time.

I wouldn't personally waste another minute on trying to make money this way. Focus on something specific and you will be miles ahead!

No. It’s hard to make money even with targeted website visitors.

Even if you will have more visitors, if they are not interested on what you are offering, nobody will care about your offer.

Yes, it is difficult to make money even with targeted traffic because there are just so much competition now. You need to be laser-targeted.

With non-targeted traffic like from ad.fly, it is a total waste of time and money. Been there, done that, what's next?

Stick with targeted (PPC and organic are best).

I have a method for slaying it on ADF.ly with CPA's on the cheapest traffic they provide, so yes you can. It comes down to individual skills and knowledge.

EVERY type of traffic can be profitable so long as its actual eyeballs viewing your site and you know what you are doing with your offers / landing page / sales funnels.

I agree with slanier2 on this. Every type of traffic can be lucrative so long as you're getting real people viewing your site. However, I also believe that ppc traffic that is untargeted would be more effective than say interstitial traffic from adf.ly for generating sales. With adf.ly, people are randomly viewing your site and not expecting to view it, which is why lead generation would probably generate better results with this traffic. PPC untargeted traffic would probably be more effective for generating sales because although the traffic is untargeted, people are clicking on your ad because they are interested in what you're advertising and they elected to come to your site on their own. This is why ppc traffic would work best if you're trying to generate sales, whether it's targeted or not.

People don't visit your site without a reason, You need to think from the readers perspective and find out what is it they are getting out from your site, they are visiting your site either to gain information(ex,niche sites) or some sort of entertainment(funny pics,jokes website) , if you really can't find out what readers are looking for, then simply go for adsense! Choose a good adsense theme and try to monetize!

Takes me back a few weeks/months on this forum when a guy was talking about his site. He sold it for over 1.5k and it made money off adsense.

A would just put adsense on a site like that, or start a "Fun Fact Science Newsletter" and then maybe sell ad spaces to science mags or sites in the newsletter header. Always go with something related.

I'm too lazy to dig up the posts, but there have been many warriors that have ranked their #1 in big G for terms that have little to no commercial intent. Then the regret and restrategizing begins when they realize they have a ton of traffic that isn't really targeted to any offer they use.

That surely proves how hard it can be to turn people who likely have zero interest in whatever you have to sell into buying from you. Even having them fill out CPA offers can be a stretch at times if the ads aren't placed correctly.

Just do the best you can do try and funnel your prospects interests into a general direction. It can be hard enough to convert targeted traffic, much less beating a dead horse to squeeze sales or actions out of non-targeted.

  I think you are better off using google adsense as google have developed new ways of presenting relevant ads based on other factors not just content of the website. Other ways may work but wont convert very well.

Once I put link of my dating site on my friend's movie site and was getting lots of traffic from there, there were many sign ups on my dating sites every day even though the traffic wasn't targeted.
I don't think it is difficult to make money from non targeted traffic.

I didn't read any other comments, but if you have this type of a site than it is probably best for you to place CPI offers which don't demand too much hassle from your dummies (PC Cleaner, Media player or whatever S/*T out there). However, If you have there "quick money" articles, place a Binary Options brand offer and taste the waters for a bit (200$ CPA rate so it can be interesting). **If you decided with the second one, let me know**

All traffic can be targeted.. you just have to think about the problem.. what does everyone need and want.. break the traffic down geographically, serve them up local ads.. and go with a generic intrest like eating, housing, movie tickets.. things everyone uses..
