[Newbie] Products for Holidays?

Hey everybody! I'm new here. I've been a full-time freelance copywriter the last seven years helping everybody else sell their products with VSLs, sales pages, swipes, ebooks, and other literary prostitution, now I'm trying to be the guy making passive income instead of flat rates.

Just starting out, I'm thinking of trying to take advantage of the holidays. I want to start building a list by buying solo-ads on safe swaps within the health/fitness niche.

My question is, what kinds of products do you think would sell well throughout the holiday season? Perhaps weight-loss products or something more like an at-home workout routine? My thought is that, even though it's x-mass/new year, a lot of people will be looking for something to start at the beginning of 2014.

I was thinking of constructing a holiday-specific solo-ad and squeeze page as well, instead of something general.

Again, very happy to be here. Nice to virtually meet everybody. I hope to be a regular and I appreciate your advice!

    William,

    Welcome to the forum.

You are asking a very difficult question since anything can sell well throughout the holiday season. But if you plan to have a long-term business, you need to find something that will sell throughout the entire year.

You should be performing niche research prior to picking a market to attack. There is a ton of great information here on the forum about how to do niche research. Type it into the search function and you should be able to find lots of threads on the subject. You're looking to find what people in a niche are wanting to purchase and a way to provide that very thing for them.

If you do choose weight-loss (which is a huge market) I would suggest you drill down even further and focus on a segment or corner of the weight-loss market to that you can advertise to just those prospects that are seeking exactly what you can offer.

Competition is fierce and you have the best shot of being successful if you narrow down your competitors down to those being served by just a few marketers.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

Weight loss is an option, but I'm not particularly interested in building a list in that health/fitness niche. Morever people who are already working out to some extent, and enjoy finding new and innovative at-home workouts, routines, or products like health cleanses and so on.

I was just wondering if anybody had come across an interesting product like that lately that could be a really good gift-giver type of thing.

      That's a good idea I'll do that.
