Hi Warriors,

I need to make a video recording and have the background flushed with a consistent color (e.g. blue).

Is there any video editing software on the PC that allows me to do that?

Appreciate any assistance or leads.

I don't believe you can do that in Camtasia. You need a green screen and Adobe Premiere.

      Hi jjpmarketing,

      1) Why do you mention "green screen"?

P.S Hey buddy, think I just answered myself here? => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluescreen

      2) Is Adobe Premiere the only software you know that can do this? Is the learning curve steep?

      Cheers!

You can use Camtasia 3 - it's FREE now: Camtasia Studio 3 - now available for free download - The Red Ferret Journal

And to create the green background you don't necessarily need Adobe soft either. You can use PhotoPlus 6.0 - which is very much like PhotoShop, but FREE also: Free Image & Photo Editing Software Download - PhotoPlus

Create one image filled with green color, the size should be 680 * 480 pixels, if I'm not mistaken (you'll see the dimensions in Camtasia), then just drop that image on the timeline and it will be there.

If you need some slides to change - then just take that image, add text, and save those new files. Then drop them on the timeline and arrange accordingly to the audio narration.

        Rgds,

        Robert

Camtasia 3 is not free... they plugged all those holes after an internet wide leak of freebies meant for magazine subscribers only and not the general public.

Also its a horrible video editor.

You are much better off downloading the free 30 day trial of Sony Vegas Movie Studio and spending the 5 minutes it takes to accomplish the job following the video tutorial I posted above.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio which costs under $100 has pretty good chroma keying:

Look up Vlog It from Serious Magic, an Adobe company. It is only $29 and will do everything you guys are asking and more.

Lot of confusion in here and I think TL you may have found the method for the solution but nobody has fully explained it here.

To remove the background you need some software which can determine what is background and what is foreground. This is often done by using a blue or green flat matt coloured background behind the presenter(s), and videoing that, followed by using a Chroma-Key function in the software (not all software is good at this but
Vegas, Vlog and Premier do have the functions built in)

    2. To replace the background with a different colour or image, you then need to configure the editing software to replace the chroma key colour with your own (which you can create in most graphics packages very easily).

Camtasia is NOT the tool for this.

    Kind regards, Spencer
