"So, What's Your Problem?"

Fellow Warriors,

I've seen several threads over the years that convey a rather 'negative' message to those (newbies) entering into the internet marketing arena - some of the most common problems being:

  • Shiny Object Syndrome
  • Buying Too Much, Making Too Little
  • Technical - Setting Up Sites, Blogs, Squeeze Pages, Autoresponders, etc...
  • No Traffic - Poor Returning Visitors, Conversions Suck, etc...
  • Writing - Web Content, Article Writing, Copywriting, Email Follow-ups, etc...
What do You think the biggest problem 'failing' or 'newbies' to internet marketer's face, and is absolutely critical to understand before they enter this business?

Hopefully, together we can provide some solutions, and I'll get some insight for a book I am working on.

Thanks in advance.

I think if this one is solved, then there wouldn't be any problem
traffic, visitors and conversion is the one we are all after....

Self indentification as a newbie. Everyone is inexperienced at something, there's no real reason why anyone should give themselves a label like that. There are no defined rungs on the ladder of knowing stuff, so there is no real reason why anyone should give themselves that label

How to get rid of dandruff. If someone has a solution to that that actually works, I will buy your product right now. I want a refund if your product doesn't work though .

Laziness, entitlement, ignorance (+ lack of willingness to learn), employee mentality - those are the biggest problems...

From what I've seen, the biggest problem many newbies have is a Get Rich Quick Mentality. GRQM will get you each time. It can easily become a DEATH SPIRAL. Why? You come in with all guns blazing and you realize that the IM business is a business. It isn't a hobby. It isn't an 'internet lifestyle.' As a result, you are not prepared for the long hours and SACRIFICE needed to make things work. You get blindsided by the NEGATIVE ROI. As a result, you try to FLEE from your problems by doing the Shiny Object Easter Egg hunt many people fall into. Alternatively, you confuse BUYING products with TAKING ACTION. Eventually, you end up broke with very little to show for your efforts and earlier enthusiasm. Many people in this situation find themselves on forums and Facebook groups being angry at the world and at more successful marketers.

And it all began with the wrong attitude. Your attitude determines your ALTITUDE. Remember that. The better approach would be the approach mentioned in the Bible: approach things from the eyes of a small child. In other words, be HUMBLE. Accept that you don't know it all. Regardless of how old you are, you are here to LEARN. Once you get to that stage, everything is possible and you can become UNSTOPPABLE. However, if you start off with a GRQM or you think your age makes you an expert, everything can quickly spiral out of control. PRIDE and DENIAL makes for a fatal cocktail.

I think it's important to understand that you have to stand out somehow, and to do that you have to sometimes start by selling in a way you won't 6 months or a year from now.

In other words, the price needs to be lower. You might need to give bonuses. You might need to offer something a person wouldn't be able to find anywhere else (really unique).

There's a lot of competition almost everywhere online no matter what people say. That's been my experience.

Don't some of us still experience these problems?

    Hi,

contrary to popular belief i think that we are not lazy by nature. Its a side effect of life and our society. It comes from our society where nobody is willing to take responsibility for their actions. You are inclined to focus on mistakes, living in the past, ask yourself forever what and why something didnt work instead on focusing on what works.

They expect somebody to do the hard work for them. They just expect the money or to become millionaires without investing energies or IMPLEMENT the techniques and waiting for the right time to get the results. They give up too easily.

Some people love to live in the past and dont want to take any action cause they are afraid of the consequences.

    Anyways too many to list, let me give you an idea;

    1) MIND/MINDSET - Lots of people struggle with mindset. More precisely the barriers that you create inside you. People make things harder than what they are, get stuck, overwhelmed, buying forever and NEVER take action.
    2) Thinking to make millions with no knowledge, skills
    3) Thinking other people will build a million dollar business for them
    4) "Analysis paralysis". People get stuck with this mental barrier of not being able to make a decision. They overthing/over analyze something and get stuck and never take action. This might be picking one guru's method over another. Or it might be trying to link the main parts of your online business together. Or it could be you have too much information to sift through.
    5) Perfectionism. The search of perfection that automatically brings to endless procrastination. In the long run, it is self-limiting and will bring you nowhere.
    6) Not knowing what you really want and not writing your goals on paper.
    7) Not selling anything at all
    8) Not having the right idea to sell to a market that wants it at an affordable price
    9) Quit after the first failures cause they don't accept failure as a learning experience and not understand that FAILURE is absolutely acceptable if you want to be successful. You just have to learn from your mistakes and take action as soon as you can.
    10) Not understanding that you MUST experience failure in order to become successful
    11) Not investing ANY money in traffic
    12) Easily influenced by the opinions of others.

I think lack of focus plays a big role. Most successful people really know how to focus thus seeing a project through...

Most people lose focus and just move on from project to project without ever finishing one...

Not having focus, so i guess the shiny object syndrome! I still suffer with this sometimes!

The most important thing i have found is to focus on one thing and run with it, thats the best way to get somewhere.

All the methods available have some success if you can just stick to one and learn it completely!

Definitely some great insight given so far. Thanks All.

I've made plenty of mistakes along the way myself. Perhaps the biggest mistake was getting sidetracked from my original reason for exploring internet marketing in the first place... which was to pursue my passion for writing, publish those works, and the end goal - to actually make money writing/selling my own products.

While I've made my share of income as an affiliate marketer, I'd yet to really put my writing to work for me, or packaged my own products. (i.e. books, reports, articles, etc.) -Most of it was done promoting affiliate products or services.

When you "approach things with eyes of a small child" (as writeaway mentions) - it all too often reveals your innermost passions, and reignites those childhood ambitions, and can become your driving force... to me, that's the true definition of personal success... Pursuing Your Passion!

You should enjoy what you do, or find something you do enjoy doing!

I believe that besides what everyone already said we should consider the fact that you have to be trusted. Your conversions depend on this factor.

Most people never manage to make sales because they don't have ways to promote their work, they don't seem to be serious, and they don't inspire confidence.

All online users are very afraid of lies and deceptions.
