Starting to Get Serious About List Building

Ive just created a nice little opt in box on the right side of my health site, I would like to give away some free information like an e-book in exchange for emails. My site does mainly health product reviews, but also has a blog. What kind of info should I give away that would convert people to give emails?

Ive got all kinds of health products so its hard for me to narrow down to a specific micro niche.

    Results is the best.

    Well, of course, not everything can be easily quantified... but for instance, for a weight loss site, if you have results from users who've used it, let people know how many kgs they lose (and best of all, whether or not they're able to continue in the present weight once they've lost all those kgs).

    Anything which will solve someone's problem.
    Most digital products are more or less problem solutions.

    You need to consider your visitor's behaviour and what their preferences are on your site, you need to offer such a product to them...

      I wouldn't think of it as going micro. Instead go macro. What is the least common denominator for most of your visitors?

        Yes this is what I'm trying to figure out. I know a lot of visitors are there for weight reasons but there are all kinds of categories ranging from sports to medicine. Trying to find the sweet spot!

    Look at your statistics and check out the SEARCH QUERY section. What keywords are people using to find your site? That's your first clue. Second, look at POPULAR PAGES. Which pages get the most traffic? What topics do the most popular pages focus on? This should be enough to give you initial directions on the ebook you are planning.
