If you need help with something... starts threads on here and be "specific" in the areas you need help with. There are plenty of people on here that will offer you guidance.

Stop thinking failed attempts are actually failure. You know what doesn't work for your particular process... learn from that.

Thank you, guys. I just feel very down. I lost some links I worked really hard for, friends make fun of my efforts, no money in and something I was putting a lot of energy in isn't working at all. My site has just 200-400 impressions a day and no visitors despite I put a lot of hard work in it. It's really depressing.

The only people who don't succeed are those that quit. If you are talking about driving traffic to a blog for AdSense or something, then either write a few articles of the highest quality, or if you can't write that good, buy them from iwriter.com, and only buy their top rated writers. get at least three titles in your niche, and offer them to the high traffic blogs in your niche. Request a link in the article for their use of the articles. And then put your link with your information at the end, with your keyword.

If you can't get some traffic with that, then I don't know what to tell you other than you are doing somersetting wrong.

It took me almost 5 years of making less than $100 a month from Internet Marketing to finally achieve success. Everything I learned during that time helped me at the end to really develop an online business that was successful enough to make real money so things you learned were not for nothing.

My advice to you is to ask yourself honestly, is the content and websites I'm putting up truly helping people and is it something that gives value or are you just taking shortcuts and selling?

I finally stopped taking shortcuts, found things that really helped people, and sold products people wanted to buy anyways and I went from making nothing a month for years to $150 a month to $4,000+ a month currently.

Keep your head up, and put in the hard work. It pays off.

Don't take it so hard. You are obviously frustrated and with good reason.
Just know that IM is not for everyone, a very small percentage actually make a viable living online.

Most of these blowhards boasting about how much they make online, take it with a pinch of salt, a lot of what you read on forums is pie in the sky....

Step away for a while, clear your head and either give it another shot or try and find another way to support yourself.

Don't give up on your dreams. Dwelling on the negative is a downward spiral. Everyone has tough times. Many have made it and then lost it all. Then gone back up better than ever. There are many examples in real life. You can choose to feel good about yourself no matter what the circumstances. No matter if you want to continue or not, look at the positives of your life.

Your just in the wrong industry mate Your surrounding yourself with the wrong people, trying to chase after adsense profits and things that are messy at best.. you just need some real advice from people that are actually making it. I do +$500k a year online and I cant even figure out how to make money with content and adsense pages..but I can make money doing other things with ease that I've discovered over the years.. things that there are no forums, no ebooks, and no information about and that is why they make money. Your just barking up the wrong tree and need some redirection.

First of all, are you building a list?

I would assume you are because you do have an opt-in form under "My Newsletter", but here are the problems I see:

Your opt-in form is way, way below the fold. Meaning that it's not on the very top of the page for people to see right away and they're forced to scroll down.

Your opt-in form is joking about spamming. This might be funny to you, but absolutely nobody in their right mind is going to sign up because they won't get the joke.

I know you want to add some humor in your site, but these mistakes are probably what's preventing you from really earning any money.

Other than those, your content is fine. Use that content to BUILD YOUR LIST of subscribers and market to them that way.

It certainly is very difficult but you have to just be patient, i don't know how long you have been going but just keep trying it will work some time, it takes time to make money which is what i have realised.

OK, you you're down, but you're not OUT until you say so.

My advice is to take a few months off. Walk the dog, do as little as possible, just THINK and keep thinking. By the way, if you don't have a dog, it's worth getting one just so you can ensure you do enough walking and thinking.

Thing is, you need a new approach; not necessarily a new plan, but something needs to change and, in your head, the answer is waiting for you.

Although you're not seeing the returns that you'd like, you've taken action and you've seen some results. What I would suggest is have a few friends or members take a look at what you've done so far. In doing so, they will be able to help you point out areas that you could tweak with your sites that you might be overlooking.

Don't give up....Let others help you out!

I think everyone who is struggling to make money online feels the same way on a regular basis but they plow through it.

If you are really determined to make money online I would suggest a short break.

Take some time off to clear your mind and re-think your strategy.

Don't give up - just refocus! If you are making any money at all then you are doing something right!!

I am having my own struggles with my site, sometimes I feel really positive about it and then I take a kicking over the weekend re conversions and I feel rubbish and like I'm not cut out for it!

But I came on here, and asked for some advice, and I've had some already.

I know how you feel, and so does everyone else here probably - when you feel low is the worst time to quit. At the very least, sleep on it. Things always seems better at the start of a day. And remember everything you have done so far that is GOOD and has worked, don't just focus on the negative.

if you are making $100 per month that's still great, what I would do would be to find out exactly how you are making that $100 per month, then once you have found out exactly how you made it, repeat those processes to make even more.

You have something to build on there, so don't give up!

Thanks for all the advice. You guys are very motivated, and I am too BUT the thing is that the people around me put me down all the time. Those who are closest to me think that I am "fooling around and wasting my time" and my life with what they call "child play." Some friends call me "the spammer." Others keep getting me job interviews for MacDonalds and insist that is how I should live my life. I wish I had friends in the Internet marketing field, but all those I met here or elsewhere aren't interested in helping me or making friends or joint ventures. It's something else they want and I won't even waste time saying what that is (green and made of paper and not a green toilet roll). It's very hard when you believe in something deeply, but are so alone in your quest and nothing works.

I've made a lot of friends here on WF who are very supportive and helpful. But it was long after 17 posts. No one makes friends that quickly in real life or on the internet. Why would someone do a joint venture with someone they hardly know and has no track record?

If your real life friends are that unsupportive it may be time to make some new friends.

However, if you're making $100 a month then maybe getting a job, even at McDonalds, is a good idea. You can pay your bills and raise some cash to pump into your internet business. Most of us started our businesses on the side while working full-time.

Many of us have felt like quitting at one time or another. Only you can decide if you have the guts to stick it out -- even on the days when you feel alone.

This is the same advice I'd give my own 24 year old son.

Giving up won't get you anywhere. IM is not for everyone though. You might just be a JOB person.

I've struggled myself with both MLM (2 years with hardly any profit and spent over $2000) and now over a year 1/2 with online marketing. I have spent a lot on courses and just knew that if I kept at it something would work for me.

My biggest suggestion would be to FOCUS even though it's hard, I have now started seeing success because I decided to start interviewing people and just stuck with it.

I really hate threads like this. It's an extremely negative headline that stands out like a fly on an ice cream cone. It's a great BIG downer in the midst of thousands of people, many of which, are trying to better themselves, increase their finances and build a better life.

I've built six profitable businesses since September, 2000 and all have crashed and burned. Some of it was my fault and some of it wasn't. Although I have had to take time and gather myself before planning my next move, giving up has NEVER been an option!

If you need help in your life perhaps you should see a counselor, mental health professional or clergy?

That wasn't meant to be mean or sarcastic. I've personally done all of the above and I'm not ashamed or embarrassed in any way. We're all only human and sometimes things become overwhelming. There's no shame in venting (in the appropriate setting) and getting guidance.

If your mindset isn't right you need to set everything else aside until it is. Mindset is everything!

Get rid of all negative people in your life right away!!! Yes, even if it's family. There are some people that you have no choice but to love them from a distance. I know.

Bottom line, if you need help, ask for it. If you've decided to give up on your dreams and quit, then quit, but please do it quietly and be respectful of others by not posting negativity for everyone to see on your way out.

Some of us come here for help and inspiration ourselves. Seeing posts like these are a real drag. I really wish the Mods would remove it. At least edit the subject line to something more positive.

My advice: get rid of those negative "friends"! You don't need that. Find what is trending using tools like Google insights. Find a problem that you have an interest in and focus on creating a site that helps folks with that problem (NOT selling to them first). Focus on good information, not a sales pitch. That can come a little later, once you've built some trust and started on a list.

The key is find something that you can help solve. When you focus on helping folks, you'll find that your bank account will start growing. I was focused on the money when I started. Didn't get anywhere. Then I focused on helping people with great content, and things grew. Now, I'm working with a group of 6 figure earners as a coach, again helping folks with IM. And it's effortless or at least it feels like it. The money comes, once you start being your best instead of chasing it.

I'm reading between the lines on this one. You've received some great, well meaning advice here and you should head that.

However, there's more going on here, I think, than lack of success.

You say you recently "became visually impaired" and I'd like to know more about that because that's something I deal with, too.

I know, for me, that was the causation of depression and other things.

I am successful but that took a slip until I backed off and handled my health (vision) issue and the hopeless depression THAT caused.

So I implore you to stick to the IM stuff because I know it works and make a handsome living BUT also, take care of yourself too. Address whatever you can with the vision and whatever feelings of hopelessness that diss ability is causing.

IM is not for everyone, if you feel it's not for you, then giving up is a wise choice, try something which you have a passion in.

If what you're doing isn't working look at other avenues, strategies, and mentors. Sometimes it's a very simple piece of the puzzle that is often over looked because of all the smoke, mirrors, and guru b.s.

Have you sought out a coach at all?

Maybe what you need is someone to hold you accountable and to help you stay focused and following through with action... the "right" action.

I know how you feel OP. It's getting pretty hard to rank anything these days. Gone are the days when you could write pages that were guaranteed to earn at least $5 a month each.

But the good news is that there are all kinds of other days of making money that don't involve AdSense, articles or even niche sites. Now I'm living in Thailand I meet a lot of people making money from online stuff, and only a few actually have niche sites monetized with AdSense.

If you've ever had a day job then think hard about anything that could be spun off from it. I based my old software business on some software tools I used at one of my employers.

Being successful online is not fan fiction. I don't know how you are approaching your internet marketing campaigns but I recommend first, ask yourself, are you approaching internet marketing the right way? You use internet marketing to develop a campaign that aims to attract a target audience to a product or service that you represent. In order to do this properly you must understand your target audience, specifically, what would attract them to buy your product or service and where do they look to buy it.

Only 1% Marketers get success. Unfortunately maximum WSO says "Easy Money" "Fast money" type of words, but eventually 99% of them are useless or impossible to follow or don't work as they describe. Their fake promises makes the people impatience. Every one thinks it is really easy to make money online, they will be rich very soon.

But the Truth is it is hardest thing ever to make money online. Lots of hard work, lots of patience is necessary to get success even needs to invest a good amount of money on it.

If IM is that easy, everybody will be doing it. Don't give up! Find a good mentor to work with. I am also encouraged by so many people trying to encourage you.

As for so many, the last two years were difficult for me due to Google slaps which basically led to all my passive income coming to a halt which I had from websites. SEO, ranking websites and then simply sitting back and having the money coming in today is almost impossible. You cannot simply make "an affiliate site" anymore and then basically have a guarantee for a steady flow of money - or at least not that easy as it was two years ago.

BUT....as long as you have a PC and internet...there is ALWAYS something to do since the field of IM is incredible vast. For example, I more or less switched entirely to offering services like making web sites or writing content.

You have to be flexible. Don't focus on only one way of income. Negativity won't get you anywhere, it will only stop you from doing.

Thanks to everyone for encouraging me. I appreciate your support, guys. I wish the people around me would give the same kind of encouragement instead of trying to make me feel ashamed for what I am trying to achieve, as if I am committing some sort of "laziness" crime.

Yes, becoming visually impaired hasn't made any good to my morale and self-esteem. I am not blind, but I can no longer draw and design, which means that I can't keep doing the job I used to do before.

As for the criticisms:

1) I did take note of the criticisms. It really doesn't matter what the content of my site is. I get like 10-20 unique visits everyday. Sometimes much less. With this kind of traffic, it's a miracle I make a couple of sales a month! Nonetheless, I am redesigning my site based on the criticisms received, but it takes time. I don't have money to outsource anything and with the problems I have with my eyes it takes me twice as much time to complete a task. I didn't ignore anything. Some of the criticisms I don't agree with, particularly saying that I am incompetent. I am not. The SEO I did to my site took my impressions from 0 to 400 per day. I am on pages 1, 2 and 3 for all my low competition keywords. I lost a couple of keywords due to some sob who deleted some of the links I worked so hard for my labeling as spam (which is what compelled me to write this post). But I am not selling smoke. The thing is impressions aren't money and the only difference between me and 90% of the people here is that I am upfront about it where as others will claim that their methods will make everyone a millionaire overnight. I tried to use some of those methods and the truth is they work a lot worse than mine! I don't get money with my methods but at least I do get impressions.

2) As long as there is no specific rule about it, I have a right to vent about my IM woes on this forum. It would be sad if they made a rule that says that people should fake out their success and hide their failures. There are already too many folks who already do it without any need for the practice to be encouraged further. I believe people who come here would rather hear the truth. At least those who are facing my same issues (being frowned upon by relatives and friends, never seeing money coming in, having their hard work labeled as spam by IDIOTS) will know that they are not alone.

refocus - do you have to get traffic, build links and sell? Or could you just build links or just sell. Break it down. McDonald's doesn't raise the cows or grow the potatoes. Focus on one part and become an expert, then earn money. It is really hard to build a site, write the content, build backlinks, promote the site, monetize it and earn money. But it is really easy to just do one of those things.

The path from $1 to $100 is 10 times longer than the path from $100 to $10,000, because the latter is just a function of scale.

It wasn't that I was a loser, it was that I just didnt' have the right avenue to make the type of money I wanted to make.

Hi, how long have you done it? What are you doing/selling? How much do you work with it? How much do you earn of every sale? Are you using any traffic source? Lots of question but you should do what the successful people do when they dig a hole that leads to nothing. We fill it and starts digging again, but in a little different way. Go get them again...

I am sorry to hear that you are not making any money online. Making Money online is not an overnight process. It takes time. I have been where you are I think all of us have. I know how hard it is to live on disability I am there right now. What most people do not understand about me is that I was diagnosed with several mental disorders about 2 years ago and I was contemplating taking my life, because doctors and psychologists said this was as good as it gets. I found the business opportunity that I am currently with right before I took myself off of the planet. What was that opportunity selling, They were selling hope. So there is a reason why you started the journey to making money online. Trust me, sometimes it feels like it is not worth it. But it is all worth it. I have learned to enjoy the journey even if I am not making all the money I want to yet. I would like to encourage you to Listen to inspirational audios, Like Tony Robbins on your downtime or when you are working and I would also Encourage You to Read The Book Think and Grow Rich, and The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. I listen to audios daily and I read books daily. Because making money online is simple. But it is not easy! Do not ever give up on your dreams! It is okay to take a break but never quit! I believe in you, you can do this!

Take this money and invest in some solo ads. Or hell, just go on Fiverr and see what you can do. Seriously, it can take a while. Arthur, the one thing that will completely turn your business around is this. Stop trying to pull sales and money toward you. Instead, focus completely on providing extraordinary value to people in your chosen market.

Read that again please, and burn it into your every day thinking. Everything you do in your business should be bringing you closer to serving others and fulfilling their needs.

Products and services WILL be sold with or without you. When you position yourself as the source people WANT to buy from, you can't help but succeed.

That's what works for me all the others stuff has yet to work when trying to sell other peoples stuff.

I sell my own stuff we make and promote website i have another business with and that works to.

I have many sites trying to sell other peoples stuff that don't work at all as everyone is selling all the same stuff someplace.

I want to make all or most of my income from the internet but that seems to be very hard to do unless you can live on very little.
I do ok with website design but most of my income is from a local business i have and then some extra from stuff we sell on-line we make.

Since you titled your post "I AM GIVING UP" it's rather clear that you've already made up your mind as to your course of action.

1) You didn't ask for any help, or advice. You didn't ask for your mind to be changed.

2) Instead you stated how you felt, complained a bit about this and that, took a potshot at others who are (allegedly) having more success than you, and stated that you're giving up.

People have encouraged you, tried to convince you to stay in the game, they have offered solid ideas, personal email contacts, and even prayer for you.

I started 2 years ago when I couldn't work as a bricklayer due to ill health. I said to myself lets see where I can get in 10 years. I had some success to start with and thought "this is easy" then I ended up, now, with next to nothing, but I am gonna keep going.

If I stop i'll never get there. And thats the bottom line!

All these big wigs that are making dough they didn't get there by magic. They worked at it and tested ideas out.

I feel your pain!!! And I've literally been EXACTLY where you are for the last few months...

After Google kicking my arse on two of my sites - the original one and the rebuild - I still haven't gotten anywhere with it. So I sat down, did some more research and decided to refocus.

And I am now once again in the affiliate marketing arena instead of selling my own products.

I just spent the last three days overhauling my site once again, moving from designing and selling my own products to setting up an Amazon aStore. Fortunately I had enough foresight when I bought the domain that I knew if one idea didn't pan out, I could still use the same domain and content and repurpose it into an affiliate site. So that's what I'm doing.

Next, I stopped back on a company site of a relatively new product that I've been using and love and saw that they just launched their own affiliate program. I applied; the partner called and we spoke on the phone a while, and after he reviewed a voluntary, sincere and heartfelt video review, accepted me as an affiliate team member!

I am SO excited! So now I just need to register a new domain name and set up the blog, some videos and I'm on my way.

It is SO EASY to get frustrated, disillusioned and want to throw in the towel. But when you're in the position you're in, which is similar to mine (vision problems, plus fibroymalgia, plus arthritis, plus bursitis, which shut down my transcription business), you simply CAN'T give up!

I've been so fed up with this online marketing that I haven't been on this site in what seems like FOREVER. But I'm back, just so I can keep up on some of the latest IM techniques - White Hat of course.

I don't know what all you have tried, but my suggestion would be to do only two things:

1. Find YOUR passion, not someone else's make-money schemes, but YOUR passion.

2. Focus!

Find some Google+ forums where people who like what you like hang out.

For me, it's Weddings. My first wedding related blog did really, really well. So what did I do? I freaking sold it. DUH So I've waited out the two-year non-compete contract and just started up again writing from the heart about my passion - I just LOVE weddings!

I've joined specific, niche targeted Facebook groups and Google+ communities where I can chat with like-minded people about that industry. I'm not a professional vendor; I just LOVE weddings!

Next, I've spent hours on YouTube watching videos in this other niche that I'm just starting into. It's fun, fascinating and I just really love learning about it. So that's a new venture.

But sure, I feel ya... 'nothing I've tried has worked.' That's because I wasn't into it. I spent six months in one program that was supposed to be making me $500 days in the first weeks. Yeah, right.

Next, a "plug in" opportunity that never went anywhere after about 8 months.

And more recently I dropped out of two programs; one after a YEAR that went absolutely nowhere, and the other after a few months that went nowhere.

Why? I only signed up for the money. And when the money didn't come, I had absolutely ZERO passion to keep me interested while I built the program.

Listen to YOUR heart and mind, not anyone else's, and something will break for you!

In the meantime, seriously, browse fiverr.com - I did make about $200 last month with my little fiverr gigs. Not a lot, but $200 more than I made with anything else this year!

And I've been at this for the last five years or so! So I know where you're at! There are people here that if they remember me, they can attest to that fact.

But I'm still here - not giving up! And you can't either!

Keep learning something new every day. Persistence is everything. Even the smallest progress is a good thing. The slowest turtles still get to where they need to go...

You can learn almost everything you need to know right here on the WF. Use the search function and search for "traffic methods" + "build a list" or "paid traffic" or "free traffic" or "list building", etc. etc.

1. Learn how to make a squeeze page.

2. Get an auto-responder to build a list. Aweber is great.

3. Learn how to drive traffic, either paid or free to your squeeze page (where you offer a valuable freebie as an incentive to opt-in to your list).

4. Set up helpful messages to be sent out to your subscribers once a week or twice a week, and add an affiliate link or 2 in each message or in every other message.
You can buy pre-written messages for your auto-responder on Fiverr(dot)com and even have somebody schedule them into your Auto-responder for you. I bought 52 pre-written auto-responder messages on Fiverr and then paid the same guy to program them into my Aweber account to be sent out once a week for 52 weeks. You can buy pre-written messages in almost any niche such as weight loss, bodybuilding, insomnia, internet marketing, hair loss, etc. etc.

Do these steps. Drive traffic to your squeeze page and only to your squeeze page, whether it is free traffic or paid traffic.

When you have 2,000 to 3,000 subscribers in your list, then come back here and tell everyone how much you earn each month !

Use 50% of your time online learning and the other 50% taking action.

Get busy !

A gameplan from greenowl. Good stuff! And some damn fine advice about passion, you're right it's not *all* about the numbers passion plays a big part. I meant that figuring out what Arthur should do next is all about the numbers, he needs to figure out what to do every day to hit his monthly income.

So Arthur:

1) How much exactly do you need each month?

2) How exactly are you making your $100 per month? What are the steps you're doing?

We need to get more specific to find out if there's a block somewhere, or if there's a more efficient way of doing what you're already doing.

If we just 2x your income and get you up to 200/month that would probably give your confidence a good boost, yes?

Take a beak.
Sometimes that's all we need, really.

Then resolve to take action again, giving up should not be ur option.
However, you have to work smart too. Find out the problem, experiment.
Why isn't your visitors responding? Is it your design? Is it your strategy?

Consider Thomas Edison....he was trying to find the little metal filament in the light bulb....he failed thousands of times....He failed until he found the one way to do it.

When it comes to friends....you will need to put them on the spot. If you feel that IM is where you want your life to be, then they either need to support you or they can consider the relationship over. Is this harsh??? Yes, very harsh....but who is being harsh right now??? They are.

Anyone that puts another person down is doing so because they do not like the feelings of inadequacy in themselves.

You are a person of power....you have the makings of greatness in you and you only need to give yourself the opportunity to make that a reality.

I am sorry to see you are leaving. I understand that the whole thing can be frustrating. I started off in GPT for a year, moved over into more direct affiliate marketing with landing pages and authority websites. and then moved into CPA Network ownership. I still do all of these things but it is like putting a little brick here and there everyday...trying to keep building houses. What i think is also important is having fall back work. My wife has other jobs that she travels and does with food safety companies. We also are astute poker players so we make a little extra through playing poker. I also have a budding writing career that I am working on developing which could bring a little here and there as well. Affiliate marketing is still the center piece though...One day at a time

You are in the right track because you shared your thoughts here. This is already inspirational for you, this forum is really concerned. I believe you'll be looking back at this thread, and telling us how far you have come.

Take a short break, and get more inspiration. Then get down to work. Try new methods - affiliates, product launching, funnel marketing, e.t.c.

Keep your websites, and come up with another. Do proper market research, create a USP and a customer avatar. Engage your targeted audience and employ social media techniques to build your website.

You need to work hard and smart, that means entirely changing your mindset.

Then share your progress, it will really help.

Rather than continuing to focus on things you say you "can't" or "don't want to" do, why not start focusing on things that you CAN do?

IM is not a golden ticket to freedom.

It's like trying to make it in basketball, you won't. Unless you're very very talented.

IM should always be a second career until you can afford to make it into a full time role.

Plus the whole idea of IM as a job isn't stable.

USE IM skills to find OFF LINE CLIENTS.

Get LONG TERM CONTRACTS in place, which GUARANTEE MONTHLY INCOME!

Don't rely on the next promo product or JV to pay your bills.

Contracts are like a paycheck.. The IM should be used not to MAKE MONEY but to ASSIST YOU in making money.

Get out, meet some people, offer a service.

No one can help a defeatist man, not even the man himself.

Be honest with yourself. Have you really taken the action you need to - consistently?
If you are making $100 per month then in theory doubling what you do should double your revenue. Are you testing to see what actions are bringing you the results? If you optimize you could save time and become more efficient.
Don't give up, you've done the hard bit and that is making any money at all!

Arthur, I don't know what you like to do outside of marketing, but what I find extremely helpful whenever I run into a roadblock or a stressful situation is to go for a hike or a mountain bike ride.

Getting out in nature on a beautiful SUNNY day without a care in the world is cleansing to my mind, spirit and body. The feel of the sun radiating on your skin, the fresh air and freedom work like magic to de-stress and de-clutter your head. Take some time to get barefoot on the earth as well ...especially in the sun!

They key is to completely turn off your current situation and business thoughts and focus on just enjoying the day... the now.

Then come back refreshed with a new point of view.

Online Only is partly right. I am not spamming because I am not breaking any of the forum's rules on which I post, but this "method" can't be scaled because there is a limit to the amount of commercial posts I can post on each forum. Even if the limit wasn't there, or if someone suggest me to post on "more forums", I wouldn't have time to that. I spend 10 hours a day working on my business, two of which everyday to post on forums. That's how I make the $100 (sometimes less) every month. That's 60 hours of work for $100 - like $1.50 an hour...

Don't give up just yet.. I also have a high and low conversions in my IM. Today I get $24. This motivates me to walk forward.

Hold up here a moment! I am going to be BRUTAL here and speak from experience.

I spent a long time earning nothing before I started making money. I had family calling my a bum, a waster, a no hoper, someone with his head in the clouds. Heck, my ex girlfriend cheated on me and left because she didn't have faith in me.

I've been there. But I stuck at it, and it paid off. And what I have learnt, at least for me, is this game is more about failing 99% of the time and succeeding 1%. You try, try, try, try, try, but when you succeed it's all worth it. Now I can earn £10,000 a month consistently.

Do not for one moment think I live any sort of dream. £10,000 is nothing compared to some. In 2012 I was sent to prison for 12 months for computer misuse (unrelated to money/marketing). I came out of prison broke, I lost around £75,000 in savings, and then found out I had Testicle Cancer. I've had to go through Chemotherapy. I'm all clear now (as of the start of this month), but as you can see life hasn't been easy. But through the Cancer I still worked as hard as I could. I still focused. Infact, in October I had one of my best months whilst I was lying in bed suffering the effects of Chemo.

We all chase £££ and chase the dream, but on top of chasing money you also have to have a passion for what you do. If there's no passion, you will quickly be driven to bordem and failure. Many times I test stuff out, research, etc. It takes me some time, and costs me some money at times ... and it sometimes fails. But the failure process for me is just as important as the success. I am happy to sit here and fail because every failure is a learning process. Failure really does not bother me in the slightest. You need to change your perspective!

If your heart is not in it, quit. There's no point in doing something you have no desire to do.

But believe me, some of us have had our fair share of trials in life! I thank God for every day I'm alive.

You also need to be creative. I bet you any amount of money I could scale what you was doing by simply writing a piece of software to ensure I don't have spend 10 hours a day doing a monotonous task. Obviously I won't. I am just saying. Get creative with what you are doing, automate it. Free up those 10 hours to invest your time into another method, or improve what you're doing. There is no such word as impossible :p

Honestly, I have to agree about the McDonalds things. I would also rather chop my arms off rather than work at McDonalds.

I've worked many jobs in my life. I worked at Petsmart for 6 years (which was fun but the money was shit) Shop Rite for 2 years (which was a nightmare - operating any type of cash register for a long period of time will slowly rape your soul) then I also worked at a Car Wash for 2 years and although it was hard work, I made a lot of money in tips which was nice. Then I worked at a Club for 1 year and the tips were awesome, but the high paced customer service is unbearable + dealing with drunks. I couldn't take it.

Eventually I got into what my brother was doing which was selling high end home improvement jobs... and I have to admit... I was really lucky. If my brother wasn't willing to take me on leads and train me for 6 months, I wouldn't be where I am today.

Selling high end home improvement was a rush. You could walk into a home for 1 hour and come out $3,000 richer. But you have to learn the industry and sales which isn't for everyone. I actually loved contracting but I reached a point in my life where me and my brother couldn't get enough leads.

Thats what brought me to WF at first.

I came on here not knowing a thing about marketing. But eventually I taught myself how to make sites, how to register on review sites, how to rank sites, how to make YT videos, how to rank them.... and before I knew it my brothers phone was ringing off the hook.

To the point where I could no longer go on sales because I was making more money by generating the leads.

Eventually my brother connected me with a lot of business owners, and I started scaling up what I was doing over a year. I started making more money than I've ever made in my life with my biggest year being this year.

But things don't always go as planned. Hummingbird was released, and many of my sites suffered.

Fortunately I had been investing money into Clickbank at the time, so I have some money coming in on auto pilot, and residual commissions from the bit of leads I'm still generating.

But in a way I'm back to square 1 and starting all over again.

Its hard to feel on top of the world at a certain point (this past summer) then fall comes around and you're back in survival mode. I thought I had everything figured out, but now I have to work my ass off, work much smarter this time, and get back to where I was before.

I can say now that I love marketing. I have a degree in psychology and I love making compelling websites & content. But I'm also a bit lazy and wound up taking risks that I'm now paying for (spun content and other things).

It was a tough thing to deal with going from a consistent 6-8k / month now down to 2-3k a month. And part of me wants to give up but.... I can't. I'm probably just as frustrated as you are.

With that said... the only advice I can give you is this. Jim Rohn is one of my idols in life. And he said something that has ultimately shaped my life and the way I view my future. He said "work harder on yourself than you do on your job, and you'll become wealthy".

That 1 statement is true in so many ways it would take a lifetime to explain.

It was something I took to heart. Because I realized "wow... thats all I really did". I wasn't really working on a "job".... the whole time I was just learning new skills. I wasn't even sure at the time HOW I would use those skills, or IF they would even benefit me... but inevitably they did.

The more you work on yourself, the more skills you learn, the better care you take of yourself, the better you eat, the more you read, the more you invest in YOU, the MORE that YOU become worth.

If you ask me, that is the 1 and ONLY formula for success in life.

I might be going through a rough time... but at least I have the skills and the knowledge to get myself out of this situation, same as I did before. And I'm positive there will be more bumps in the road, but in the end, its all making me a stronger / smarter person.

As far as skills go, there is something important you need to know.

You can NOT learn skills by reading forums and watching videos. You can become AWARE of skills.... or familiar with them... but you only really "learn" a skill once you apply it. The more you apply different skills, the more skills you acquire. The more versatile and valuable you become.

Also, you have to realize that there are certain infectious ideologies that can corrupt your thinking. Like the book "4 Hour Work Week". Its a great book. Very inspirational. But it also teaches people that hard work is a bad thing... which its not. You can apply a lot of the techniques in the book to work more effectively, and waste less time, and overall work less. But no matter what, you will always have to "initiate" yourself into wealth. That initiation is a period of dirty, confusing, hard, monotonous, mind scrambling WORK.

Like that motivational speaker said, you really have to want success as badly as you want to breathe when you are drowning. Thats why you'll find, a lot of people who are in really bad circumstances in life, can usually propel themselves like a rocket into a wealthy lifestyle. Much faster than a person whos not in such dire circumstances.

Because one person is drowning, and the other person is not.

And once you DO start making good money, you can NEVER become comfortable. That was one huge mistake I made over the last few months. Money was rolling in, I told myself "its time to sit back a bit and enjoy life" and I started taking shortcuts, started taking risks I know I shouldn't have... and before I knew it reality slammed into my face like a train.

Now I'm in a weird situation. Because I have the skills, and KNOW the sky is the limit. But this is the first time in my life I've ever been spoiled. If I wanted, I still have enough money in the bank to not do shit for the next 9-12 months. So its not a drop in earnings that worries me as much as my new entitled attitude. And I'm realizing I have to change my attitude and become "hungry" again... when the reality is I'm nowhere near as bad as when I started.

Either way, life will always have its challenges. And you will need to carve out your own path. You will need to have faith in yourself, you'll have to learn skills, become a good problem solver... and make it work. You'll need to discipline yourself which many people can't do.

In the end if you fail... you're very well looking at the prospects of working at McDonalds. So all I can really say is good luck. Nothing in life comes easy. Even if you were born into a rich family, you'd have an entirely different set of problems to deal with. I have some rich friends and I can tell you from experience, I wouldn't trade my position with them if my life depended on it.

Nobody succeeds without failing first! Don't give up! If you need to make money right now, try your hand at writing articles for one of the main brokerages. (textbroker, iwriter, etc.). The pay isn't great but it's money to pay the bills. Hang in there.

First off, I cannot imagine what it must be like to be visually impaired. We men tend to be very visual creatures, so this gotta be one of the worst thing that can happen to us...

I have had to wear glasses every since I was 7 years old but it is not as bad as my 80+ grandfather who must use magnifying glass to play solitaire. I do not know about your exact situation though...

Second, my friends do not think I can make it and think it is a waste of time and my family just want me to get a "regular job just like everyone else" so I am feeling you exactly there man...

It also happens to be the case that I have a part-time job at MacDonalds competitive company (although I cannot mention its name and it is in Sweden so it probably doesn't matter that much either)...

This stressful job with a lot of disgusting food that we serve to people who should know better, is not that fulfilling. It is my dream, long-term vision to be able to help people through the internet and have enough spare time to enjoy my other hobbies. I would imagine you have something similar to this...

Third, the world of internet marketing is both a kind and unkind place, depending on how you approach it. The majority of people's focus when they enter IM is to only make money, money, money.

And yes, this is the long-term goal at the end of the day and we if don't make money, our businesses won't survive and we won't be able to get what we want in our lives.

On the other hand, if our main focus is only on making money, money, money, we forget an essential point: where does money come from? From other people! (yeah sure, that is like "duh")

But if that is so "duh" why do we focus in the wrong direction???

The most important thing I have learned in life and internet marketing the last 3 years is this:

Just a quick note and I don't want to sound bad, but - have you thought about changing how much you hang out with the negative friends and find some new, more positive ones?

If not above $100 but atleast you are making some money, mostly people don't make a single buck. So you don't need to give up hope, if you are not succeeding, try something new in IM.

I have no idea what kind of effort you have put into this business because I do not walk in your shoes but I will tell you that if you can get really good in any specific area of interest to many in this business, you can charge to teach/coach them or to do the work for them..

This can be very lucrative if you position yourself properly. If you do give up make sure you have something else lined up otherwise we'll be in an even worse scenario financially and mentally.

You sure? Come over to India for a while then - you can survive pretty well on $200/month (if you're single, assuming you have some sort of savings). You'll eventually get the hang of things and start making more.

Need traffic? - Put up a website, link to it in your WF sig, be an active member. 2-10 views per day right there.

Need links? Guest posting, article marketing, article directory marketing. Talk to Alexa Smith on this one.

Selling online? Think Amazon, Clickbank, your own products.

Overall, I understand - I really do. I was in the exact same place about....well....12 hours ago. Then, I buckled down, realized that I was being a whiny, complaining idiot, and started again. The life of an IM isn't an easy one in the beginning.

I'm starting to feel the same way. What first attracted me to the internet was selling ebooks on Ebay. When I first got started I was literally making up to $500 per week. But after that slowed down I tried my hands at starting websites and so far I haven't been able to make over $100 a month off the internet. One of my websites made me up to $200 per week around Christmas but other than that I haven't been able to generate a full-time income off the internet. I have a couple more ideas that I'm going to try. After that I'm going to throw in the towel and start working on a local business.

Hey, at least you are making money. That is better than many of us newbies here. Why dont you just treat IM as a side job until you reach a point where you pull in stable mid income from IM. ( that has been my goal, although I am not there yet I am still trying )

Is your main area of difficulty simply getting traffic and links? Looking at your site, your content seems engaging enough that you shouldn't have much trouble building a list. You do however need to change the verbiage on your opt-in form. No one in their right mind would sign up to your newsletter with a call-to-action like that! Offer something FREE and of VALUE to entice visitors to sign up, and move your opt-in form so it's above the fold (at the top of your sidebar).

As far as getting links, have you thought of creating your own private link network? This can easily be done using web 2.0 properties and a nifty piece of software. Another great idea to help spread the word about your site is via Youtube. Create some how-to videos that are related to the content of your site and embed them into your articles (works wonders for SEO). Read this for Youtube Video SEO tips - lots of good tips here:

Other than this, keep adding valuable content to your site and keep on top of your social media efforts (especially Google+ and Twitter - both are proven to offer SEO benefits)

I love this "I give up" ideology, it totally suggests that entrepreneurialism is the ultimate realm by which the strongest survive!

This journey is not without its defeats, especially failing before jumping in to even swim.

The personal fears and insecurities are more of a barrier to entry than starting Capital.

Where do you see yourself? Good, now tooth and nail to get there. You have to live by it just like you commit to Shabbos on Fridays or wake up early on Sunday for Church.....

In the end you either make it or die trying. How much more real do you need it to be?

Thanks for the precious feedback, everyone! Uniqueas, I just changed the wording in my newsletter sign up form. I realize that people - both prospective link partners and visitors aren't getting my jokes and I am going to try something else, at least as far as first impressions go. Yes, getting traffic is the main issue I have. I am working on the links issue and I got some results, but no matter what I do or where I post, advertise etc. it seems that I can't get any traffic. The very best day I ever had was 40 uniques and normally it's 3-10 unique visitors per day. How people get 20000 traffic is beyond me. My site is on page one of Google for three low competition keywords and according to Market Samurai I should have at least 100 uniques per day which I don't.

An Al (...I am the one with the wicked sense of humor? lol...), the problem is not the topic of the page. The problem is that I have no traffic. Out of the 200 people a month who visit it, I make one or two sales and get like 10 Ad Sense clicks which seems a great conversion rate to me. So it's not the content of the site that doesn't work. If I had 4000 visitors per month (x20) I would make 20 sales and cash $2000 with the same exact conversion rate I have. Then the site would be one about making money that IS making money and conversion rates would even increase as the site would gain trust. My plan does it's job. the problem is that getting any traffic seems like mission impossible.

I prefer to stick with this plan rather than start a site on a topic like gardening supplies for which I have no interest.

We all feel that way at one time or another. However if you keep leaning finding new ways to promote your business you will get there. One day it all clicks and suddenly you making money. The thing you need to learn is you have to be in the game to play the game.

I have never seen a water boy making six figures. So stay in the game. Learn and you will earn. Knowledge is king.

Take some rest and take the IM as part-time until you make the least amount of money you want.

STEP 1: Create the most incredible thing people want, create the most incredible pitch for people to buy it with the optin, do this like your life depended on it. If a gun was pressed to your head and you had to get an optin to survive WHAT WOULD THE PRODUCT BE WHAT WOULD THE SALES PITCH BE?

STEP 2: Give advice, content training. Something so they know you.

STEP 3: Create the most incredible product and sales pitch and sell it to that list or send them to the relating affiliate product THAT HAS A PROVEN CONVERSION RECORD.

Do this over and over again and watch your numbers and improve you will get results, thousands have done it already, you don't need friends you don't need to be featured on the blog, you can do it all by yourself.

If you want faster or quicker results you have to focus on a different method other than SEO all you really need which is easier said than done is offer that converts and traffic...

There are ton's of affiliate offers you can promote if you can't be bothered to create your own and as regards to getting traffic quickly very quickly there's a bunch of methods not to mention solo ads, facebook ads, doing free w.s.o's, paying for a banner on the forum , posting in the article section of this forum and uploading youtube video's...

I consider giving up all the time. I'm not making any more money than you are. My husband earns more than I do, but not enough to support two people. He and I may have to move to Mexico because we cannot afford to live in the U.S. on the type of wages we're capable of earning here...at least not right now. Our copywriting business isn't even six months old yet.

I was talking to someone about this over the weekend: a lot of people think that entrepreneurship is like getting a traditional job, that all you need to do is fling open the doors of your business--in our cases, put up a website--and within a week or two, the money will start coming in, then arrive regularly after that.

That is not how a business works at all. It could take 2-3 years for a new business to get into the black. The only reason why my husband earns any money at all is because he's been plugging away since 2005.

I agree with the others who've said that you need to rid your life of those toxic "just go work at McDonald's" people. I hate those people. I've eliminated people like that from my own life. They are losers who want to bring you down to their level. They do not want to see you succeed.

If what you are currently doing is not working, perhaps you need to do something else. Remember that "Internet marketing" is a broad term encompassing everything from selling widgets on eBay to copywriting to web design to affiliate marketing to social media management to selling PLR materials.

I, too, have tried a number of things over the past 2.5 years that failed miserably. First off, in 2011 I graduated from university with a B.S. in Math & Computer Science. I couldn't even get a $7.25/hour job with this [expletive] degree. This was, by far, the worst failure, because it set off all the other ones:

* My idea for a junk-removal company failed when I realized I didn't have the resources (equipment or labor) to operate it.

* My idea for a "marketing" company failed because I didn't know what the HELL I was selling.

* My petsitting company failed because the demand in my area is for in-home dog boarding, as opposed to dog walking, and I don't have room to board dogs in my house.

* I tried being a Beachbody Coach (an MLM setup) which failed miserably because I simply don't have the personality for MLM. I also don't believe in their Shakeology product, which is the core of the opportunity. I think it's overpriced snake oil, and I couldn't bring myself to push it on people.

* I had a great oDesk job that abruptly blew up when the client company went broke and shut down. There wasn't even anyone left there to terminate our contracts, let alone leave feedback when I finally hit the "terminate" button myself.

That job ended in May. I launched my copywriting business in June. I haven't earned more than $100.00/month since.

@Jen I am sorry; your argument doesn't make any sense. Why would anyone even bother to work 24hours a day, 7 days a week for this and not follow truly helpful advice. I have seen too many people pay $500 or more, sweat all their shirts off and get nothing other a "believe in yourself and you can do it" feeling from the mentoring. I am not falling for these kind of scams. That money would be better invested in ads or list building than in someone who wants to be paid upfront because they know they can't deliver results.
