Demand for IM Automation

Hey everyone,

Great to be here.

So today I was thinking about the real demand for IM automation. I am an advanced PHP developer by trade and as a side project have been working on a complete IM automation service. It works as SaaS (Software as a Service).

Do you think there is a real demand for automation of:
  • Blog commenting
  • Social media posting
  • Social Bookmarking

If you could get all these things in one place, do you think you pay a small monthly fee to access it?

Just getting thoughts as I haven't come across anything similar. Like a complete package where you can go in, post once and it gets shared on all your social network accounts as well as finding relevant blogs with commenting allowed and posting a relevant comment with a link there. And then of course the social bookmarking etc.

Any thoughts and discussion would be awesome!

Cheers,
Sean.

I feel like there is. However, I feel like there is already a lot of software out there for it.

I agree with John, there are tons of software that do those tasks so I'm not if you can came up with something different and unique... Also, I think that serious marketers would rather go with outsourcing than with a software, because it looks more natural, but that's just my opinion...

I think there's a lot of software programs out there that already do this kind of thing.

Scrapebox and Xrumer I believe the popular ones are called.

    • Yes, there is demand but you will have lots of competition. Meaning your customer acquisition cost will be really high.

There is really no barrier to entry to what you describe because you could just sign up for SeNuke and package it as though its a unique service.

If you are really advanced at PHP, then think of something really advanced

you are on the right the track thinking a subscription based model is the way to go

try reading Milloinaire Fastlane by Demarco; there are a couple mistakes you are making with your idea which Demarco will straighten out for you

xrumer and scrapebox will -50 your money site in a heartbeat. They should only be used for higher tiers and in moderation... there are tons of automated software out there... you need to come up with a original idea.

Gosh Sergi, why work on this search engine with all the competition from yahoo and alta vista?

I don't think we should put all this effort into the excel project Bill with all the competition from Lotus 123 and VisiCalc.

Geez Linus, why are you wasting all this time on this Linux thing when there's windoze, os/2, dos and unix?

SAAS, is becoming the better way to distribute a software product, not only because it reduces piracy but because it creates a better way to develop and manage code.

The trick is to create the type of product that meets a need and has not been done in the past.

That may be a challenge but it is not impossible.

Automation may be a good idea however it needs a little refinement, you are definitely on the right track, get into the right niche market and you can make a bundle.

      Thank you everyone.

Yeah absolutely, I think there are a whole heaps of benefits to the SaaS model. Rolling out updates is a piece of cake, no cross-platform compatibility issues, the list goes on.

I guess you've got the right idea about finding something that hasn't been done before, or at least hasn't been made to reach its full potential.

If you weren't already aware, there is an absolute ton of this software out there, both desktop software and SaaS. But, if you can break into the industry there's definitely demand.

If people have a gripe with current software, try to find that and there's a potential product

Take a look at tools like SeNuke & GSA search engine optimizer. If you can come up with something unique and create a compelling offer then it may be worthwhile.

    Definitely a Demand

Definitely a lot of options already available. If you find a unique spin it may work
