Best Ebay Alternative(s)

Hi,

I have been running my Ebay business for the past 8 months, with many issues using this unfair site, even though I am a Top Rated Power Seller, it only takes 1 or 2 negative feedbacks from impossible buyers to strip that title overnight, so I am always on edge to lose my business, which has happened before because of a couple negative people and takes months to gain that status again with payment restrictions, very frustrating, even though I have hundreds of happy customers and testimonials, it does not matter to Ebay.

Anyway, I am on the look out for an alternative or alternatives to Ebay that are working for people, I understand there might not be an alternative that is better or as good, but if people are making sales on other platforms I would be interested to know please.

So please let me know if you are making sales on any Ebay alternative sites???

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

      Thanks Tanya,

I have heard of Bonanza before, but have not signed up yet. Good to know you are doing so well, making ALOT of money is a great thing, congrats!

My income could grow much higher if I did not keep getting these setbacks with Ebay and payment restrictions, so I hope a site like Bonanza will help me get to the next level of sales.

I have heard of other sites like webstore.com or ecrater.com and many others so it's tough to know where to start and which site is best worth my time and energy to add my hundreds of items. So now I will look closer at Bonanza and give it a shot if you are doing so well with them, thanks for your insight.

      Thank You for Bonanza . . .

It seems this is one that has escaped me.

I look forward to giving Bonanza a go in the new 2014 year.

Looks like there is a good variety of stuff on Bonanza . . . and it will be an escape from the problems of Ebay.

Thanks again . . . All the Best

Tanya - what advice would you give people for choosing honest and reliable drop shippers?

I second Bonanza. They have a good reputation. If they'd do some more advertising/marketing, I think they could give eBay a run for their money. I'm thinking about listing a few things on Bonanza, just so my eggs aren't in one basket.

      Cool Bradvert2013,

That is good to hear, and it sounds exciting to be on a strong up and coming selling platform like Bonanza. I will begin listing my items there ASAP and see how it goes for me.

Plus, I am going to take the promotion and advertising/marketing into my own hands as much as effectively possible to produce (more) sales.

Have you looked at eBid yet?

I've been with eBay since 2004, they just took ALL of my listings down because of one customer complaint. So, I just joined eBid and listed 2 items yesterday - will see how it out goes. One thing I noticed already about eBid - they are a lot less greedy than eBay!

That is similar to me.. I have been with Ebay since 2002 and just started drop shipping ( which according to their terms, is allowed) and now they restricted me too a couple days ago and said I need to give them receipts for all. I said I can not..

Wow, receipts! Never heard this before... did you list a couple of hundred/thousand items?

Were you using Amazon as your drop shipper?

I was going to use amazon yes.. not that ebay would know by looking.. and not that there is anything wrong with it.

The key to Bonanza is you have to do A LOT of listings. Make sure your listings aren't the same wording that the company or manufacturer has worded for your product that way it will be listed and ranked in Google. A few listings on Bonanza wont do. To do it good and big lots of listings.

Thanks for the tips. When you say A LOT of listings, are you talking hundreds? or are we talking thousands of listings?

I don't personally market on eBay but I have lots of friends who do!

It sounds as though these complaints by buyers are annoying and that it is pretty hard to have a stable business.

But at the end of the day, eBay is where most of the traffic will come from!

So I'd rather stick to eBay and deal with it!

Why not try shopify. Don't quit listing on ebay if you're getting a lot of traffic in there. You can use it on your new ecommerce site if you're going to create one.

Amazon seller central is the answer. It is much easier. The weight of a negative feedback is less harmful on Amazon then it is Ebay. Also you can list things on Amazon a lot faster than Ebay.

I see many moans and groans about eBay but have yet to find an alternative that is cost effective. I don't understand the complaints about selling fees as I think eBay is very cost effective and our fees run at about 6% of sales revenue
Last month I paid eBay over $20,000 in fees and was glad to pay them
They have the traffic and so that's where the sales are
Sure the feed back system is ridiculous but if you want sales and can cope with the fact that eBay customers are very high maintenance then eBay is the place to be

Amazon sellers central if a good alternative, but I think it can only work for you if you are using trusted drop shippers. Plus, you do not have to go through all the pay pal pains of account restrictions and their rating system is not so harsh to the sellers if you do it right.

Have not had of bonanza.com before. But looking at their site rank, it has some traffic though it seems way lower than you would get if listing on ebay or amazon.

I'm selling much more on Amazon with FBA and being Merchant Fulfilled than I have on eBay in the last year. However, if you are dropshipping, this won't work for you.

Items I'm selling on eBay for $29.99 2 or 3 times a day, I'm selling for $35 9 times a day on Amazon with FBA. There is really that much of a difference between Amazon and eBay right now - eBay is tanking in terms of traffic.

Thanks to those people that have participated and contributed to helping find Ebay alternatives.

As suggested to me, I looked into Bonanza as an alternative to Ebay.
I added my items and feedback to Bonanza, and I am getting sales!
But not at the level of my Ebay store yet, but for example I sold something today on
Bonanza and nothing yet on Ebay, and there are no restrictions on payments,
and I feel safer and happier to sell on Bonanza over Ebay, but I just have to increase my numbers.

I have not had time to start listing on Amazon or other sites yet. After I get my Bonanza booth to a level I want, I will go back to Ebay to grow more and look at Amazon and other good sites that people are getting sales on to start listing.

      Happy New Years!!!

I suggest Amazon. The perfect alternative and, unlike eBay, once you list an item, it stays listed until sold.

If you are trying to sell a whole bunch of identical items at a fixed price, then placing ads on more than one site is the way to go. Why limit your options? Sell the same thing in many places, and grow your business.

I would recommend Amazon.com without hesitation. As others said, there are SEVERAL advantages (feedback score is not as important, Amazon handles all payment processing- no "unpaid buyers"- EVER! Amazon's customers pay MORE for items than Ebay. Also, if you use FBA (fulfillment by Amazon) like I do, you don't have to handle boxing, shipping, returns or customer service. Amazon does this all for you.

With all that said, it really depends on what you sell. If you are selling collectibles, antiques or used clothes, Ebay is the way to go. If you are selling books (used or new) media, or retail products, Amazon is where it's at. Others I've tried are:

    ioffer,
    Ebid
    bonanza
    Buy.com (now rakuten.com)

I've had the most luck on Ioffer and rakuten. I've BOUGHT a lot on Ebid as I can find great deals on there for resale. I still sell on Ebay as well. I agree it can be a giant pain. Check out Amazon.com- you won't be sorry!
    I've not had much luck

That has been changing. A lot of inventory has been moving to Amazon. For some products / categories eBay certainly still has many more listings, but I am noticing more and more on Amazon.

That's what happens when you piss on your sellers and affiliates.

OK so you can sell your items on precious amazon now. Hey, they are a lot better than fee bay I tell you. Frankly, I wonder about that company. Like how can they even survive. People are tired of all the pain. Wish they would wise up. Fee bay keeps on getting max worse every year.

I feel that Bonanza has potential...not quite there yet. I agree that Amazon is probably the best alternative and just like anything, you should diversify and use both if it fits in your business model.

    What about this idea...

    Implementing the Aweber/Paypal application so
that each time an eBay customer checks out
they are sent a confirmation letter.

In this letter they will have the opportunity to
be on your subscriber list. Do this long enough
to develop a following. When your list is so
incredibly huge, how about gradually making the
move to a stand alone website/store.

At your new location (to sell) inform your
followers that you're there and use that "owned"
traffic to jump start you at the other site.

It will take time and work, but it's a way
    to ween off of eBay.
