Living in one country, affiliate marketing in another...

I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere else but...

I live and pay taxes in France, but want to host a site (IM) in the UK or the US (English language targets). How does this work regarding taxes, paypal acounts etc.? Do I need an actual bank acount in the UK or US? or, or.... I'm a bit confused.

Thank you.

No need. I am living in Philippines since 2002 and never filed any of these taxes. Having paypal account is a must though.

You do not need to have a US/UK bank account to set up hosting etc. in those places. If you have an internationally accepted bank (credit/debit) card that should do. A paypal account will also work, but you should check if Paypal allows only incoming transactions or if you can keep money in your account to be used for purchasing goods and services. This is restricted in some countries. So if you want to use Paypal, check with them what kind of transactions are allowed, or you should be able to use your credit/debit card.

France, you're going to love the taxation level...

What do you intend to promote ? If you want to promote some US offers you'll need a payoneer card which will enable you to receive payments from US companies, look it up.

I live in the UK and I have my sites and I am an affiliate in the US. You don't normally have to pay taxes in the US provided you fill out the paperwork (the affiliate networks normally provide it).

When they've paid me by check I've banked it into my UK bank account without issue other than the exchange rate used and the fact my bank likes to charge £10 per check.

Why don't you check with an accountant in your own country? That way you will get accurate information.

But you could look into setting up a company overseas so you can accrue profits tax free in your company and only pay taxes when you draw out income to pay yourself, but check with a professional about this.

I live in Sweden but own a limited company in the UK which means I pay corporation tax there. I pay no income tax though as I do not have to (I can take the profits left after corporation tax completely tax free).

Just out of curriousity: you can do that (no income tax) because of the UK legislation regarding limited companies... or because of the Swedish income tax laws?
Because I have never heard such a thing to be able to take out money from a corporation's earning and NOT to have to pay income tax on it for the individual receiving the money...

Im with Istvan here. I may be wrong but don't you need to be paying income tax (or similar) in Sweden on your personal earnings?

i think he sells as company, and himself earns minimun income from the company, yet still have control over the company. so he doesn't have to pay income tax.

I heard that in your country if you are poor you are loved by your rulers if you are working hard they take more then half of your income??? not sure if it's true but I heard it multiple times just sounds like a big rippoff!

I am in Ethiopia working with accounts of my brother, Australlia and a cousin in Canada. filled none of taxes or anything like that but I think the rules are that the affiliate company wants you to pay if you are in that country like USA. If not you need to pay taxes to your government after you receive payment. I think it works like this. Though some networks or payment processors like alertpay and 2co ask for your tax number.

Could you, guys, stop posting so many idiotic BS...?

Till now I've read all kind of brain dead posts from tax cheaters, ignorant assumptions from uneducated individuals... and nobody wants to pay attention to warnings based on real life experience of real business people like WillR.

It's not genuine question, trust me many seasoned marketers are confused about taxes and it's a pain in the ass..you live in france that mean no issue with paypal or clickbank..etc (some people from "third world countries " use payoneer because they can't open paypal account for example).

The bottom line, I know taxes in france are high..if you are making less than $3k a month don't bother..but if you are making more than you should form an LLC in USA (it's not easy as the hard thing is to open an usa bank account as non resident) or you can form LTD in UK, for me is the best and cheap solution for you (you can do it online, companiesmadesimple dot com and for less than 100 € you travel to UK and open your bank account -need an appointment- ) .

  • The country I lived in once was a country of free men no taxes they believed it's wrong to force other to steal their income give to others today today they change their minds like a few hundreds years ago. I think it's a mistake.
