Are you using Pretty Link with YouTube Annotation links?

I might be behind the times but I just realized this and wanted to share.

Pretty Links - awesome plugin for WordPress that shortens your links and has built-in tracking too.

For YouTube - this is awesome! YouTube restricts links in your annotations to "associated websites," and you're only allowed one associated website per channel.

What that means is you can't use your affiliate link in YouTube annotations - unless you use Pretty Links.

Pretty Links adds a unique URL extension to your associated website domain name. And voila! You can now put your affiliate links in your YouTube annotations!

    Really? I had no idea. I was putting my pretty links in the description, can I moved them into annotations?

      Yes! As long as you have an associated web address in your YouTube account settings, and the pretty link is with the domain you registered, YES, you can use them in your annotations! So now your annotations will be linked too!

      Ex: my associated website is ksmusselman.com so my Pretty Links are ksmusselman.com/prettylink

      I still include my Pretty Links in the descriptions too.

      Here's an example - at 2:00 min my link pops up to buy the product - that's my Pretty Link affiliate link. Cool huh?

    I went through the process but get this message at the end. Does this mean we cant use pretty links??

    "Your use of external links in Annotations will comply with Adwords policies, YouTube Ads Policies, and YouTube Community Guidelines. Do not use external links in Annotations to redirect traffic across domains. Any violation of these policies may result in removal of the feature and/or termination of your YouTube account. '

      ruh roh... I never received that message!

      Well, it is definitely better to be safe than sorry, so I do believe I'm going to go back and remove mine!! I'll leave the annotation there, but it will be unlinked.

        Ya definitely could be risky. But I did add direct links to my site, well see how that works out.
