There is usually less opportunities in december for online developers/freelancers?

Hi all,

As I know that in December (at least in UK) there are usually less jobs I would like if it is equally the case for online freelancers, especially php and wordpress developers (I need to intensively start new search of contracts from december).

Thanks in advance for your help,

Booster

A lot of people have fun, spend more time with family and go on vacations during this time of the year... But business is always there although not really big as compared to during the year.

I just realized that I made a mistake in my prospect strategy.

I run a web development company in the UK, I just signed up what I suspect will be my last client of this year. I usually spend December working on my own projects. Picks up again mighty fast at the end of January from my experience.

If I was you I probably wouldn't bank too hard on landing clients in December.

I just realized that indeed...So December will be for intensive training.

I always do SEO work for my self last 2 weeks of December and first 2 weeks of January a few hours a day. Other than that I don't touch anything.

I check oDesk once in a while but haven't seen any good contracts posted for ages.

It's always worthwhile having a few of your own projects, or of course training.

Most people feel Christmas and 1st January is the best day for a product launch or to start some thing new, so in conclusion business will not affect.

You must know when are the slow times in your industry so you can
plan how to use that slow time to build your business internally. For
me. summers and Christmas time are slow times so I work on
product creation and writing for myself. At the same time some
online marketers do well during those seasons. All depends
    on your market.

I am presently re-orienting my niche to web design (including banner, flyer, etc) , development, and seo. Previously, I was working with recruitment so at the moment I cannot say.

I did just as well last December and January as I do every other month. You need to advertise a bit more and perhaps offer special discounts but it's all worthwhile. I don't take holidays so that helps people as well.

It happens all around the world, December is closing of the year, but it actually doesn't affect any business opportunities, smart people work more in December so they can have a good start in January.
