Hi, Warriors...
first of all, please pardon me for the bad english... not a native...

i'm just into list building lately, and still struggling with it... lol

i have something in mind about this strategy, and would like Warriors opinion regarding this...

i have a domain already which at the moment have a squeeze page installed...
but it still lack of traffic.
So, i'm planning to create a WP blog about internet marketing (especially in list building), and will have the articles submitted into article directory later on and hope to get some traffic from them...

and here's the question that confuse me which one is better...

which of these option will you do :

1. put the blog as the main page of the domain (with a optin as sidebar widget) and have the squeeze page installed as subdomain?

2. put the squeeze page first at the domain, and have the WP blog as subdomain?

if i want to drive traffic to the site, which one you think is more important to be showed first in the main page domain?

Any opinion appriciated :>

Warm regards,
hendy AUgust

  • First let me mention: driving traffic to a squeeze page is hard. Driving traffic to a blog is easier. When you create a blog, and update it constantly with new posts, your pages are indexed in search engines and if you have quality content (keywords, SEO, images ALT tags etc...) you can start being seen faster in search engines and rank higher. But of course it takes time. If you are not building links to your blog but only adding content daily, you still have the chance to get traffic due to your content. But when you have a squeeze page, only the content on your squeeze page will be working for your site, where on your blog the contents will work for your blog.

My suggestion is that, you build your website as your primary home page your squeeze page, where you can build your blog www.yourdomain.xxx/blog
Because squeeze pages are generally for offers and it's better when it's not a subdomain.

This way your squeeze page too will receive traffic, because your contents and blog belong to your primary domain. Put your opt in form in your squeeze page. Make a subscription form "newsletter" on your blog for your posts. You may also send mail about your opt in form to subscribers at your blog posts. If there are interested people, they will opt in to your squeeze page too. Keep separate your opt in form and newsletter box for your blog.

These are my suggestions and thoughts, you may do the opposite too. Like www.yourdomain.xxx/offer (or instead of offer write the product name) and make your primary domain name your blog.

    • I agree with you even for my acne remedy blog I did the opposite with squeeze page being the main domain. However for some reason they were both ranking in google for a certain keyword . It however did no feel right to have my whole blog as www.yourdomain.xxx/blog.
  • Primary domain as blog, put the squeeze page on a page of the blog. Mysite.com/squeezepage. With optins on sidebar of blog.

    • This is your best option, a blog is a much more important component than what a squeeze page is.
  • Squeeze first (to build list) and blog as subdomain

Even if people find your blog first , they will be curious to see what you have on just the main domain and then will see your optin offer.

  • I would work on your blog and getting a good foundation to your traffic. Then you can tell blog visitors about your squeeze page (product).

    • Thank you for the feedback warriors :>
reading all those feedback, i think both options have their own benefits...

      but , i think Avery idea's i not bad :>

I will see if this works with my domain :>

again, thank you so much for all the feedbacks :>

  • Hi,

I would use the domain to forward to your
blog, and the subdomain forwarding to
    your squeeze page.

The blog would be more ideal for organic
traffic provided that you keep the site
fresh with relevant content of value.
EVERY post on that blog should be
checked for proper SEO prior to publishing.

    One last thing: Be mindful....

Would this be a self-hosted Wordpress
blog, or would you be using a free blog
from WP? This makes a difference as the
free blogs on WP are policed frequently
for "spam." They don't seem to be to
    internet marketer-friendly.

    Congrats on your decision to
    focus on list building.
  • Another option to consider is using the main domain for a blog and installing a "welcome gate": Welcome Gate along with an optin form in the widget area and below posts.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Your main website should be your blog. You can then have squeeze page offers in as many subfolders as you want. This is what I do with my own blog.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Hey Hendy

hey here's an idea. why not see if you could have a bonus added to people's thank you pages. You're a great designer, quick turn arounds and I know you have done some great stuff for people. including me so why not see if people wouldn't mind giving you a spot?

You already have the page you could send people to and it could be a great way to build your list up. I encourage anyone who has used you for their graphics to give you a spot. no matter what niche free templates are a benefit to a ton of people so why not

  • Blog first, the plan for flipping in the future. For squeeze page you just can't use only one. You must split testing about which squeeze page that more give you high conversion.
