New Warrior - Looking for REAL Success Stories

Hello,

I am new as a Warrior (despite my account age) and an Internet Marketer. I finally started investing some money to work toward being successful in marketing. A little about me. So, I'm actually writing this a few days after coming back from the Riviera Maya where I spent my honeymoon. I've been studying and reading up on IM since a while prior to the wedding and honeymoon with plans to get started upon my return. A few days before the wedding my wife lost her job, so now I have even more impetus to get started. She can't get back to work for a while due to dealing with Lupus and Fibromyalgia.

So, I know I have my goals set. My first goal is replacing her monthly wages, around $1500 a month. Due to her condition, a non-monetary goal (of sorts), is to be successful enough to allow my wife time to get healthy.

I bring several strengths to the table. I'm an old time blogger. I got my start back before blogging was cool with a website called Patriot Paradox, that then transitioned to my name. I helped found the Christian Carnival that showcases the best in Christian blog posts which is still going strong today. At its height NickQueen.com was a Page Rank 5 website, and I actually made about $3000 through ads and Adsense and a few Amazon sales. I wasn't even trying really. When I tried a few times since to build and monetize websites I failed miserably. In retrospect I think I tried too hard. I went for a quick buck and fell flat on my face.

My first blog was on Blogspot before Google bought it. I transitioned to Movable Type and then to Wordpress when it was released. Its the best and easiest and I love it.

I also bring strong writing skills to my new business venture. My bachelor degree's are in Secondary Education in English and Social Science, 5-Adult. That leads to the stuff I need to overcome.

I'm currently in my final year of Grad School. I'm at WVU in the Masters of Social Work program. As such I'm also in a 600 hour internship. I also work for Child Protective Services. My time is tight. In many ways, however, this is a relaxing diversion from the stress of my life. My wife is also extremely supportive, and is already asking what she can do to help, from research for products to even learning the stuff along side me and helping to do the time consuming parts.

I have signed up on here, in the War Room and on Wealthy Affiliate. I have just built my first site, and getting some help with the design (the background, banner and such. I suck at that stuff!) I am starting the content tomorrow.

I guess what I am looking for is seeing that people really do have success. I know better then making 20k with simple websites setup with an Etch a Sketch and bubble gum. I'm being facetious, but I think IM is full of hype that leads many to waste tons while chasing false hopes. I feel I have realistic goals. I want to at least make $2000 to $3000 a month eventually. Would it be great to make $20k a month? Sure, but I want to keep it real. I'm not asking for screenshots of bank statements, or affiliate earnings. I guess what I'm looking for is someone to tell me what sort of success can be had while not selling me there 3 day program to earning BIG. Is that too much to ask? Don't get me wrong, I know this site and others like it wouldn't exist if it was all a scam. I guess what I want is realism.

Also, any advice for a new guy in the neighborhood?

You are right IM is full of B.S and hype, but there are "gurus" who made millions selling that same B.S, hype and dreams.

You can make the 2-3k a month like you want, with blogs, but if you really want to make 20k a month, it is very possible. The best way to make 20k/month is to create your own products IMO.

There are products that come out on a daily basis, but some of them are actually good, and I've seen people make 6 figures just in one product launch.

If you can focus on creating one good product per month, I can't see why you can't make 20k or more a month

What sort of products are we talking? I'm assuming we are talking WSOs or the type of products one sells on Clickbank.

I don't believe in hype products, even though I know they make the most money. Plus I don't make 100k with a click of a button, so I wouldn't know where to start. I am referring to software, IM tools, scripts and stuff like that. You can create useful tools and charge a monthly fee and make your 20k/month with that. You will really have to sit down and do some research on what kind of software or tools will help IM'ers.

Well, they are both great moves!

Keep in mind that having a website is only one way to make money online (and it usually takes some time to show a profit as you work to get decent amounts of traffic too it) whereas Affiliate marketing, with it's low up front costs can put dosh in you pocket quickly.

If you're unsure what affiliate marketing is, this video at MediaFileShare by Joel Comm (a very experienced marketer) will explain what affiliate marketing is and give you many valuable pointers.
Outrageous, crazy, funny, scary, interesting videos!

Also, whatever you do you will need an autoresponder to followup with people, and to promote to them on an ongoing basis.

Good luck with your journey online!

because of all your background experience, you have a pretty good chance at really reaching 20k! Honestly, being an IM does have a lot to do with SEO and TPP but if you can find a broad niche between your experience and putting that in perspective on your websites. I am sure that 3k you made can quickly, in time, turn to 30k!

Having related marketing articles and marketing ads is the key and it's OK that you have fallen flat... this will make the funds you produce a little more worth while!

I don't see the point in success stories since anyone giving them to you could just as well be pulling them out of their a**.

If you want to be successful then don't sit here asking for people to tell you how successful they are because the reality is the people who reply to a thread like this are probably talking themselves up for a reason.

Results speak for themselves. Go and find people who are already getting the results you want to get and then model your business after them. A lot of the best people worth learning from never offer coaching or programs to replicate their success.

Well, I wrote this after a two days of keyword research and then a day of website development. This was a nice break. I've come to decide part of my past failure was venturing out as a lone warrior instead of seeking advice and support from friendly folks here and elsewhere. Sure, I know people can lie to me, but I also know some will be supportive, enjoy the story I tell and provide encouragement. Being a social worker I know the value of that.

Keep it simple stupid works the best in IM also. Push button software's and products with all the hype hardly ever work.

The best thing is to build a product or service.

I'm finding it pretty hard to rank niche sites these days. Forums are still doing OK, but it's hard to start one in an existing niche.

Keep an eye open for new niches that interest you as well. After all, the Harry Potter books/Lego/movies are all comparatively recent.

  • If you are looking for quickness - Partner up with someone already successful to create your first product. It will help you learn the ropes and help you gain credibility. Preferably with someone with a large customer base and list.
