I was wondering if it would be a good investment to buy some solo ads to start building a list. I have been in INTERNET marketing for about 2-3 years now. However I have still not really seen any substantial results as of yet.
Mostly I have been trying the free route, or using traffic exchanges.
My question here - would it be a good investment to buy some solo ads to build a list, has anyone been getting good results using solo ads.
I have not been getting any real results so far from what I have been doing.
I am in a MLM opportunity, as well as do some affiliate marketing, and have been looking into CPA as well.
Would solo ads be a better investment then say, PPC, or other paid alternatives.

Thanks, I appreciate the responses here..

Yes, solo ads do in fact "work" to build a list, however, building a list is the easy part. Maintaining a quality subscriber base would be the more difficult task. You would be well advised to have a clear and targeted demographic before you even begin any type of list building advertisements, whether it is thru solo ads, ppc, ppv or any other form of advertising. Your follow up emails via a broadcast or autoresponder should be related to your initial "hook" and provide true value for your subscriber, or else they will unsubscribe in a heart beat. With that said, safe swaps has some great solo ad vendors. You will have to test several of them to see which ones give you the best ROI. Remember, just because you get more subscribers from one vendor doesn't mean they are the better vendor. The better vendor is the one that gives you more sales/subscriber. It is also your job to provide value to the subscriber in order to get a higher sales/subscriber rate. 10 sales from a list of 100 is better than zero sales from a list of 1000 any day.

YES they work very well!! I have a list of over 20K using mostly solo ads. The trick is to be able to get your funnel to convert and to keep reinvesting your profits into more solo ads.

Also – track the results you get from each solo ad provider. Keep buying from the good ones!!

Yes solo ads can and do work. But be careful. They can get very pricey.

Another word of caution is to be extremely weary of solo exchange sites such as the ones pumped out by Greg Chadwick and the likes. Solo ad guys such as him have a network of solo ad sites and simply send traffic for each site, from a single traffic pool, thus nullifying the need or benefit up upgrading in more than one of his various similar looking websites.

They work BUT you would be wise to create a profitable funnel before buying a bunch of them. A smart marketer earns back the advertising spend on the front end, then everything else (on the back end) is your well earned profit.

    So you'll need:

    1. A squeeze page
    2. A One Time Offer ($7-$11 recommended)
    3. An upsell option for buyers

Tweak those three things and you could very well make all the money you spend on solo ads the very day the solo ad gets delivered.

Btw, I've created 57 thousand subscribers through solo ads by ONLY reinvesting the profits from previous solos. So you can quite easily make a full time income just by creating a profitable funnel + buying solos

I agree with everything Brendan says.

I would add that your squeeze page should be unique. I see too many squeeze pages that are just copies that are given out to affiliates by the product owner. Take some effort to create a good squeeze page that stands out from the crowd and get you a good optin rate. You don't need to be a graphic designer either; there are WP optins that create really great looking squeeze pages.

You need to watch your optin rate like a hawk and keep tweaking it until it gets you an optin rate above 40%

As to OTO; I have had good success with recurring commissions with a free trial or $1 trial . These are membership sites so, you can keep earning commission for months to come from just one sale. You can find plenty of them on JVZoo and ClickBank.

I prefer JVZoo for products because, after you've sold a few, you can contact the product owner and ask for instant payments. This is great as you can immediately re-invest your money into getting more traffic.

And, don't forget about your follow-up emails as these will also get you sales.

Yes, solo ads do work. I agree with everything that has been said before. I would just like to add some additional information.
Facebook - SoloAds Groups is a good place to find sellers and buy quality low priced solo ads. There are also solo ads chat rooms on Skype too.
Here are a few questions to ask before you buy.
    1. What's the percentage of top tier clicks? These are clicks from US, UK, AU, CA & NZ
    2. Is it their list?
    3. Is it email traffic only?
    4. How much % over delivery do they send?
    5. What price per click do they charge?
Finally, when first using a solo ads seller buy only the minimum number of clicks (usually 50 or 100) to begin with to limit the loss if they are a dud seller. If they deliver the number of clicks paid for and more and you get optins and make sales then buy more!

Solid tactic, providing you have a lean funnel and you also capture as many leads into your own list as possible. Trying to use it to just promo affiliate products/MLM without first capturing the lead...not so smart.

Once you use solo ads to build your own list, you can then even ad swap your list and multiply.

    Hi,

My honest opinion would be not to go just for the cheapest clicks
every time you book a solo ad.

I'm always more then happy to pay for more expensive clicks
if I know that the seller is going to be sending me lot's of...

    ...PROVEN BUYERS!

I'd much rather have a list of 100 buyers than a list of 1000
    freebie seekers.

    Hope this helps

True - I would also far rather "have a list of 100 buyers than a list of 1000
freebie seekers". That's what it's all about. But solo ads do work to build your list.

Yes, these are all useful, I have received quite a bit of training on some of the different approaches. I am mainly promoting small affiliate offers (Clickbank, Shareasale, CJ) As of now I don't have my own product. In the backend I am promoting a MLM in the business opportunities niche. I have a list of only a few hundred. My main traffic sources has been traffic exchnages, blogging, article marketing, and social media. The only problem with this approach is it has taken a long time. I am leaning toward quality solo ads, Facebook PPC, and some banner advertising.
I use a video squeeze page with name, email, and sometimes phone number. Any suggestions on types of offers that work? Styles of squeeze pages to use? What works for broadcasts, and what types of offers would be considered better performing..
I have been online for the last 2-3 years, but I have been getting very little results. This is especially since i have a small amount to invest. I now am seeing the value in investing more, while, I have a small budget, I am still prepared to invest what I can.

I appreciate the responses, I am just looking to figure out what works best with solo ads, what are the best types of squeeze pages, and if need be some good resources to go for squeeze pages. In addition what offers work best for list building (free offers, or small paid offers).

    Thanks for the responses here..

For squeeze pages i found out simple MMO squeeze pages with a free report work best. If you have a good OTO you can even build your list for free! Just see for yourself which solo ad vendors give the best result.

That being siad, once you get a bigger list and are able to generate a good amount of clicks, you have mutliple options to make money. You can promote affiliate offers, promote your own products or even sell clicks yourself.

One of the keys to running a good solo ads is to make sure it is really targeted to the niche you want to market to. You say you are promoting a MLM opportunity so make sure the list you use will be responsive. It is also a good idea to check with the list owner, before you order the ad, to see if that specific opportunity has already been sent to his list. That would not produce good results.

Solo and works. In fact it's one of the fastest traffic source you can ever have. Just like someone said above you need to have a good sales funnel in place like squeeze page, onto, download page with affiliates banners on your download page this way you break even. You obtain leads and market to them in the future with a good follow up emails.

Yes I second it cause solo and works.

Solo ads do work. Yes. I have a friend in the UK who has just crossed over the $1,000,000 barrier in sales. And all he does is solo traffic.

So yes it definitely does work.

However, it takes time, skill, and perseverance to learn how to master this form of Leverage (leveraging other people's efforts and lists).

They work, but in the end depends on what you got to offer/promote. Information either will sell itself and convert or not. Most lists are better giving freebies away, and letting them funnel in to big things later on, especially when they get to know, like and trust you. Things like this. Just a quick example.

but as long as you buying in the same niche. for example they no point in doing a solo ad for a gambling product to a list created in the health niche if you get me.

I think that if you go with PPC, your opt in rate would be a little higher and your conversions will be too.

I am not saying that solo ads don't work because they do but a lot of people that come from the PPC company that you will be using, are FRESH and have probably never seen an biz opportunity before. They might me more responsive.

Yes go for expensive clicks which have been proven to buy. Then ensure that your squeeze page and offer are provn to convert at a reasonable level.

I see many people selling Solo Ads to people who sell Solo Ads, this of course is another method, but it seems slower to me.

Yes, solo ads are great for building a list. Finding a good seller, which is not always easy, is key. Sometimes, with solo ads you will get an unresponsive list and sometimes you will hit the jackpot.

Good luck in your decisions. :-)

So I am confused because I never purchased any solo ads and I want someone to be realistic and help me with the math

Say I purchase 100 clicks for $50 dollars
I get an over delivery of 30
So now I have 130 clicks and lets says 30% opt in
      That is 30 subscribers
out of those $39 subscriber 2% purchased a $20 product
      2% out of 39 is 0.78
      0.78x$20= $15.60
You spend $50 and you made $15.60 That means you lost $34.40

Now you can't reinvest into because you ended up losing money despite having a great sales funnel

In top of that, lets just say that those 2 people decided later to ask for a refund

Now you made a $0 dollar profit

Now you go and spend another $50 dollars on another solo ad seller and get better results made 3 sales so now you made a profit of $10 dollars

Lets say 1 person ask for a refund.

Now you ar not in profit anymore as 2 sales are $40 and you spend $50 which means you lost $10
I don't get this solo ad and how to profit and reinvest

maybe I am over thinking this because I have never done and shouldn't even be talking because I have no knowledge about this business

Maybe someone can help me understand this better.

Please be specific so I can understand what factors to look for and how do you truly profit even if you have a great sales funnel but you end up losing money

You're forgetting the money to be made after they are on your list. It's not all about (or even mostly about) what you earn or don't earn at the point of signing up. Warm them up and then market to them repeatedly as the list owner. This is where the true income is earned, not the funnel at the start of the process (although that can be profitable if done correctly, too).

How do you keep warming them up and keep selling to them?
Do I create a new list on aweber with new follow up messages?
Do i create a different sales funnel? and send a broddcast?
Would't that overide the existing sales funnel which would affect the next solo ad segment?
I am confused? How many sales funnel do I need and how do I keep promoting once my follow up messages run out? Do I just buy another solo ad and start over?

I am missing the big picture. I don't need theory I need specific details on how this works.

If you come up with a funnel that works, keep using it. Buy more solo ads from different vendors or the same good one if he/she has a really big list and segments so you don't get repeat sign-ups.

Add everyone to the same list with that funnel and run them all through your follow-up series, which should be a combo of good free info/tips and affiliate offers. Work in your other products if you have any.

If you start a different funnel, you cross-sell your first funnel to them once they're on your list. Along with the other stuff (affiliate stuff and your own stuff). Make a new list each time you run a different funnel, or put them all into one big list if you want. It depends on your ability/desire to be really organized or a little lazy.
