What Are The Best Methods For Traffic

I was wondering what are the best resources for traffic, what has worked, and maybe what has not worked.
I have been online for several years now, but still have some roadblocks when it comes to generating traffic, I don't seem to get enough to get any real results.
What is better to get faster results, and what would work at the same time for longer more consistent results when it comes to generating traffic.
I am researching in ways to get more traffic, but seem to find it very challenging to find the right resources that work.
I have mostly been doing free advertising, however I have not seen any real constant traffic from what i have been dong..
Any responses is appreciated it..

Thanks..

  • What are you generating traffic for? You don't have to tell us your website or your niche, but what is the purpose of this traffic? How are you going to use this traffic to generate income?

The best way to generate traffic is to develop a marketing strategy that reaches out to your target audience and reals them in for the kill... How you do this depends on where your target audience is on the internet; if you find out where your target audience goes to find what you are selling or offering, you will know which methods to use to advertise.

The best traffic sources are PPC, Forums, List traffic and banners on other peoples site IMHO

Organic search engine traffic is good to, but nothing you want to hang your hat on, because Google can knock off at any time.

There's a multitude of ways to get good traffic but many of them are only suitable for certain types of business. Without knowing what niche you're operating within it's impossible to provide concise advice.

You should try to get traffic from search engines and also from other sources like facebook, forums, twitter, yahoo answers etc. Depending on SEO solely will eat up a lot of valuable time.

My niche is in "make money from home" However I promote products and write about "copywriitng" "Blogging" "Home Based Business" "Affiliate Marketing" to name a few.
Mainly for me is to build a list, I only have a couple hundred subscribers, at the same time I do not generate enough traffic, especially from organic traffic. I am leaning toward solo ads, maybe Facebook PPC, and possibly banner advertising. I am on a smaller budget, but I am still looking to start some small investing. What do you think? What is the best approach here? Thanks for your input..

I have been using Facebook PPC and it doesn't require a large budget if your ads are optimized well. The trick is to test different ads to see which ones perform the best and then work with that one, further optimizing it.

With a small budget, I was averaging about 50 optins per day. Here is how I did it:

I used the Power Editor to publish newsfeed ads (they convert higher than marketplace ads that are smaller and on the right side of the page).

If you know your target audience age, that is helpful. But, what I did was create four ads to start, exactly the same but varied the targeted age ranges. This is what it looked like:

      Ad #1: 18-29
      Ad #2: 30-39
      Ad #3: 40-49
      Ad #4: 50-65

Once you launch the ads, you see which one performs the best and pause all others. You can then work on optimizing the other elements of the highest-performing ad, changing only one element at a time, to help it perform better.

I also like Facebook ads because you can get really targeted with interests and even take advantage of retargeting. You can also set a budget and start with a low daily amount.

Some of the people I respect in the industry who teach about Facebook ads are John Loomer and Michelle Pescosolido. You can find a LOT of great info on John's blog. He gives away a lot of free tips.

  • Hi gdom?,

First of all how do you expect people to be attracted to your work from home make money promotions if you are not actually making money or not enough? It is a bit like expecting good financial advice from someone who spends all their money and is broke all the time?

If you want to make money in an IM niche it is in my humble oppinion far better to write honest reviews about IM products and services that you first buy and use yourself. State the bad as well as the good otherwise people will see all you want is their money.

Go to the free Google Keyword Planner tool and find the best long tailed keywords that people searching for your niche (not the product) are using to find a solution to a problem that your follow up product could address.

Then use those long tailed keywords in a blog, or a video and also write articles in guest article blogs for long term lasting free traffic. In your paid for ads to get a page 1 ranking make sure that the cost will be a profitable proposition especially when building a list by linking to a landing page?

It may be quicker to simply sell without list building but how can you sell to them again if you don't capture their details first? There are many places to post paid for ads and I recommend testing small scale before rolling an ad out to all on your list?

However you first need a lot more on your list so concentrate on list building before attempting to sell and build a relationship with them with free help so they begin to trust you? Then once trust has been established start recommending good quality products and services preferably those you use yourself or trust the seller so you know it does as they claim.

It may help you. Don't think quantity, think quality.

Lists are the way to go but think about this: what would you rather have - a list of only 10 who are paying subscribers, or a list of 1000 who never buy anything ?

    Hi,
Once you write a post, you need to promote the heck out of it. You need to go to content curating sites like BizSugar, JustRetweer, scoop.it, paper.li, StumbleUpon, etc. Re-write the post and put it on document sharing sites like docstoc, etc. Google "document sharing sites" and you'll come up with a ton. Blog commenting and forum marketing.
    Good luck!

      Good advice from Geri above...

I will add a little bit more :

Also promote each new post on folkd.com - social bookmarking - http://delicious.com/ - Digg - What the Internet is talking about right now and Tweet it on Twitter, Post it on Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.

Re-write it and post re-writen versions to Scribd.com and post new versions on Blogspot, Typepad, LiveJournal and other free web 2.0 sites like those.

Also post free classified ads on Backpage, Craigslist, USfreeAds, OLX(dot)com, etc.

Also make the article into a YouTube video.

Pick 1 paid method of advertising, such as PPC, PPV, banner ads, etc. and learn it well, even if it takes months or years to get the hang of it. Start on a small scale at first, then when you get a good ROI scale it up.

If you're trying to get your name out there you should look into Guest Posting, find relevant blogs/sites and offer to create a guest post for them, research their target audience first and be sure you can explain what the post will be about and how it will benefit readers before you make the pitch, which could be a simple e-mail.

Showcase your talents in the post, give a CTA, make your author bio good, send them to a landing page that's tailor made for the site you guest posted on. It's about building a relationship with their readers so be sure to become a regular to the site, at least to the good ones.

The traffic whose problems you can solve is the best traffic for you.

You can find this traffic through a variety of means (in no order):

    1) SEO
    2) PPC
    3) Facebook
    4) YouTube
    5) Solo ads
    6) Media buys
    7) Offline
    8) Craigslist

The economics will depend on your average lifetime customer value and your bankroll (if you want to do paid marketing).

If you want to get free traffic, it will be less expensive, but will take more time.

depends on your budget essentially..so lets say you have a dedicated sum of money to paid advertising..so go after PPC on facebook or bing, solo ads (vert expensive at all)...PPV as well works like magic..but if u are on a tight budget..forums or adswaps, youtube, or jv with other people on your market having a good list of subscribers...regards to all.. wish you the very best in your online biz!!

There are many good traffic sources for both Free and Paid Methods. Some of these include.

      1) PPV (aka. CPV, Pop-Up Traffic)
      2) PPC- Tier-1 (Adwords, Bing)
      3) PPC - Tier2 (7 Search - much cheaper clicks, lower quality traffic)
      4) SEO
      5) Facebook (Free and Paid Methods)
      6) Plenty of Fish ( POF)
      4) YouTube (Free and Paid Methods)
      5) Solo ads / Email Swaps
      6) Media buys

I personally have had a lot of success with PPV using both LeadImpact and TrafficVance. You can get targeted traffic for as little as 1.5 cents per visitor.

Hope This Helps and Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!
