Do you still buy Solo ads?- Discussion

Warriors -I wanted to get some feedback about your solo ad buying experience
Some points I would like to know are
Are you buying solo ads often?
Are you getting good results?
Are you getting great customer service?
If you are not buying solo ads what is the reason for this?
Is there one thing that will convince you to buy a solo ad from a certain seller?
Where do you look for solo ad sellers, Here on the warrior forum? Use Facebook Groups? Use Skype Groups?
Are you buying more or less solo ads than you did in the past?
I would really appreciate some feed back

I had bad experiences buying solo ads. Bad service from vendors who don't bother to answer your emails at all. I am sure others have better experiences. Like to hear some good ones too.

In my case it has been a mixed bag when it comes to solo ads. I have however had good experiences with the sellers in this forum. Just need to read the comments of others before buying any solo ad.

      Solo ads are amazing.

Stick with reputable sellers who have testimonials, can't go wrong.

And if you aren't seeing the results the you desire, make sure you are always testing and tweaking your offer.

Never bought solo ads. I just dont see the point in them. $0.60 per click to give a free offer to a list of people who are spammed every day. Even if the offer converts at say 70%, which is very good, that still means your paying $0.85 per email for a saturated list full of people spammed every day and are not even proven buyers. Just does not make sense to me. Right now I have about 3K in my list and every one of them is a proven buyer and I paid NOTHING for the list. In fact they paid me to get on it.

That's what I think too. I am sure that solo ads are converting, but I already found better ways to drive quality traffic. For example you can pay 10-20 cents for a click for a visitors, and with a 20% conversion rate for a free offer you can get a subscriber for about $0.50. The difference is that those email addresses are not spammed, and are not in "the system". If they are responding to every "free" offer, and they receive tens or more every day then they cannot pay enough attention.

However, I don't want to talk about something I only tried for curiosity, but I still think that buying solo ads are the easy way, while the better reward is for ways that you find yourself ( real internet marketing ).

Solo ads are not as effective now as they were a couple of years ago.

Back then, they were the 'guru's list building secret'. Then the secret got out of the bag and two things happened.

First, lots of opportunists started building lists purely to sell solo ads. These are inevitably a waste of marketing space.

Second, one solo ad directory after another came out to feed the trend. This meant that what had been very good lists started to suffer solo ad fatigue as everyone piled in on them and conversion rates plunged.

In my experience, to find the best solo ads you have to move off the beaten track and find providers that are still relatively 'undiscovered'.

One way to do that is to search for email newsletters with large subscriber lists (preferably ones who have never heard of solo ads!) and approach the owners with an offer.

Such people are much more likely to allow you to 'test' at a low rate and, if it works, you roll out.

Another tip is to try doing a revenue share with a solo provider. If they agree, you know two things: (a) they are genuine and (b) they will work hard to make it work.

Admittedly I have only pulled this off twice so far but it doesn't harm to ask the question!

In summary, solo ads do work but you have to work to find the really good ones and go where most other marketers can't be bothered to tread.

I have to agree. Doesnt matter how big your list is if it is not targeted or filled with freebie hunters..

More important to find targeted traffic that wants what you have. I see all the time people building a huge list and then wondering why they are not selling anything..

Because you need a targeted audience that wants the products you are selling.. You also need to have report with that list so they trust you..

A list is worthless if it is just a bunch of emails and not real people wanting what you have.

I haven't started buying solo ads yet, but have finished constructing the funnels and will be starting soon.

Good testimonials and recommendation from others in the same market would ensure a bit more peace of mind in buying them from a certain seller.

I buy a couple a week usually from Facebook groups or Solochecker.com. There are as many bad as there are good sellers so it is easy to get burned.

Best to keep to sellers that have mostly top tier and/or buyer lists. They cost a bit more but well worth it. Last week I went against my own better judgment and bought a solo 100 clicks for $30 and not one subscriber was from a top tier country.
No sales either of course a complete waste of time and money.

    Good luck

I do buy solo ads and also have my own service, whenever I buy solo ads I get good result, these ads are very beneficial and doesn't cost too much.
To get good result always consider the traffic type, and niche type of the list of person you want to buy solo ads from.

If you do it right? It can make you a fortune.

Here's the dark side of solo ads:

I always see people saying "check reviews"...

    Well that doesn't always work.

I've seen in many situations (recently) that people with "Great reviews" send 100% bot traffic.

It's hard to detect unless you know what you're doing...

But often it's only feasible to determine what solo ad providers work by testing them yourselves.

Reviews don't really hold much weight.

This is sadly true. But I tend to make relationships with my solo sellers, so if they screw me people will hear about it.

A strong funnel will yield sales from MOST decent quality solos from reputable sellers. Even if its a buyers list theres no guarantee you'll get sales, but it's more likely than a non-buyers list.

I've seen 10+ sales from a 500 click order but then maybe 1 or 2 from yet another 500 clicker from another seller. Both were reputable sellers but you can't just knock a seller if you don't get as many sales.

Typically the marker of a true low quality solo is low opt-in rate, often around or below 10 - 20% depending on the offer. Then again I have seen sales from solos that I only had around 8% opt-in lol so it depends on a lot of things.

I'll personally take a solo that gives me sales that either lead to profit or breaks even on the solo cost rather than merely a high subscriber count.

      So to answer to you:

      I buy solos often.

80 - 90% good results with my solo buyers.

Mostly good customer service, but some people just don't like responding once they have your money.

I like when my friends refer me to good solo sellers, so if they recommend I listen.

I'm buying solos way more than when i did in the past. (I didn't have a list to add subscribers to in the past )

There's a huge difference between the review of a book and the review of a service that depends on people. Why is that? While most of the time the book remains unchanged (so even an old review is still valid), people change each and every day. Unless the subscribers are bots or dumb human bots LOL, any solo ads service depends on people (not only on the service provider)

  • I just started, think the key is tracking and split testing, I just got CPV lab to rotate landing pages and offers it's a pain to learn the tutorials are not the best (or I'm a bit slow) but i'm getting there. Overall I'm almost brake even at this point from the few I have bought I just finished the new presentation I'm going to finish a second radically new one to split test and do a few more rounds.

If anyone is using CPV lab for split testing solo ads and want to mastermind give me a PM It's the main thing right now I'm struggling with. Overall I'm thinking it's going to be very profitable once I get a few more kinks worked out, you can't do your normal JV/webinar etc thing when it come to solo ads.

I too had a bad experience buying solo ads, they simply don't convert or generate enough leads to be greater than the LTV (lifetime value) of that user. For example, if I get 100 leads and it cost me for the mailout $1000 that's $10 per lead, but if that customer in the long term generates maybe $5 per lead, then well, I lost money! Bad ROI!

      Huh ?

If he generates $5 per lead, that's great !

      4 leads (emails) a month (1 a week) = $20 each customer,

      That's a Great ROI !

I notice nobody has mentioned Safe Swaps, is there a reason for that? It was recommended to me to use for solo's.

I have bought a few and I agree with a lot of what is said above. You don't really know what you are getting. From a 100 click solo I may get 35 or so subscribers but that still works out to $1.30 or so per lead which isn't ideal and then a few days down the line you realise that a few addresses are fake as the emails bounce, some unsubscribe etc.

It is an easy way to get your list up though if that is your main purpose.

I have used safe - swaps but not for solo ads yet. I find that if lists are built by offering a free ebook or service then you will get more freebie seekers joining that list and less sales. As with anything it is quite a good idea to shop around and start communicating with the solo seller. I hope that helps

Solo ads were a huge help in building my business. Without solo ads I would probably would have never made it as a full time marketer...

However, solo ads (and ad swaps) aren't as effective today as they were 3 years ago. The main problem (in my opinion) is there are certain folks who are glamorizing being a "solo ad seller" as "easy money" or "30 minutes a day work"... Which I guess could be technically true - but these are not necessarily the folks I want to buy solo ads from...

When buying solo ads (or any paid traffic) you must track your results as close as possible. Track as much of the activity in your sales funnel as you possibly can. When you find a solo ad vendor whose traffic is really good for your particular offer then I would start buying traffic from that vendor every 1-3 months until they stopped producing the results I want.

Also, something a lot of folks tend to forget about is that how the solo ad seller built their list.. For example, if a solo ad vendor built their list by "normal methods" (solo ads, ad swaps, giveaways, selling products, etc) then you need to pay attention to the offer that those folks where shown in order to get on that list.

So, if a particular solo ad seller has gathered most of his leads by giving away (or selling) an course on blogging then you will want to match your offer as closely as possible to that. If you try to send that traffic to a list building offer you will not get as many optins and sales as you would if you sent them to an offer about blogging...

I don't buy as many solo ads today as I once did - mostly because I've been doing lots of stuff "offline" and not focusing much on building my internet business. However, for several months I was literally buying at least one solo ad a day.

I use Safe Swaps and Skype to find most of my solo ad vendors. I also keep detailed records so I know who has "good" traffic and who doesn't.

If you are having trouble seeing the success you desire by using solo ads then I would suggest taking another look at your sales funnel. Always be tweaking and testing until you have a funnel that will break even (or better yet, make a profit). Once that happens you can just keep buying traffic and building your biz.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Coby

Solo Ads can be great.. Always ask the vendor "How many fresh subscribers do you add daily?" Where are most of your subscribers located? How many active subscribers do you currently have? Are they responsive subscribers? Do you mail out your solos daily? I get good results from vendor who mail out solos just 2 or 3 times a week.. Mailing ads everyday is a no no for me... I want fresh subscribers not junks..

I've just started testing solos. Getting great optins but hardly any sales. Only purchasing 50-100 clicks thought. But still, think i need to tweak my sales funnel. Other than solo's i use facebook ads. Get a handful of optins a day fairly cheap. It's all about your funnel though. It gets off putting when you don't see a ROI.

Solo ads work... but it takes time and money to test, so get recommendations or use a trusted source. And most of the success is down to your capture page and your offer. So get advice - ask friends and colleagues for their experiences. Solo ads work!

I think solo ads can be a great tool for quick, somewhat targeted traffic. My main concern with solo ad vendors comes from over-saturation. I have come across great directory-style Wso's where individuals have highlighted quality solo ads from vendors that come highly recommended. Check out David Eisner, great solo ad resource!

I like to play around with Ad swaps, sell solo and buy solo mailings - Safe-Swaps.

Basically you have to do a lot of testing. Test 100 clicks and move on to the next vendor. Though all of them may have a high rating, 50% will send garbage traffic.

If you have some budget, then you should definitely head over to save swaps and take a look at top vendors.

Yes, I buy solo ads often

Results are mixed. It depends on how responsive a list is to your offer. Some sellers will directly tell you after checking your solo that it will go well with their list. So you can have an idea. Solos are also a math game in my opinion the clicks you buy the better your chances are.

Up till now I had one bad experience. The seller contacted me only 3 days after I first wrote to him because my solo wasn't broadcasted on the set date. His reviews weren't overall so bad but since last month he's been having almost only negative reviews. I found out about it after purchasing the solos
For his defense though the list was really responsive to my offer. So I had mixed feelings after that.

I'm in a program which made a list of solo sellers that's mostly where I get them from otherwise facebook is a good place as well.

I'm definitely buying solos more than when I started. But I must say I started just a couple of months ago.

Solos are a great source of traffic. You just to do your homework when looking for solos. Read reviews do your research. You're going to get burned, it's unavoidable but that's the game. So buy solos knowing that and you'll be fine

    Hope this helps
