Yes, I have a suggestion.

Stop fretting over Alexa ranking. It means nothing. If you and your advertisers are focused on it, you're spending time and marketing effort worrying about the wrong metric.

Instead, focus on getting more and more laser targeted traffic to your web site. That will do more for your business than anything and it will probably have the side effect of accomplishing what you want.

I feel alexa ranking is not 100 percent correct ,

funny I able to see my blog in alexa ranking but not in google

is it I never put google meta tag or what??

Hi

I agree with many here who have said that Alexa rank is not a true reflection of the site's popularity...at least not to the extent of correct number. But then again your point is perfectly valid as you have advertisers that probably pay you from being listed rather than per click. So a good Alexa ranking is always a deal sweetener.

Alexa rank can be improved when people have the Alexa tool bar installed on their browser and they browse your website. So try and figure out a way of getting that done (difficult I know). But the easy way out would be to focus on bringing in more traffic, that is bound to get you more people with Alexa tool bar installed.

Hi,

Why are so many people focused only on how much money they can make? Making money is important but starting a business only on how much money you can make is the fastest way to fail and I will explain why even though I have already said it to the anoyance of the few who obviously aren't making any or very little and don't like to read the truth?:rolleyes:

The first step is ALWAYS to build a list or that is after having decided upon and researched a profitable niche and long tailed keywords people searching are using. It has to have profit potential otherwise you have a hobby instead of a business.:confused:

If however, you want to get a higher Alexa ranking for articles, videos or blogs for instance then that is a totally different question and again making more money is only possible if you provide a better service or offer a high quality product that actually solves a problem that people searching online need?

Nobody needs to give you money unless there is something in it for them, i.e VALUE.

I have already answered ways to get a better Alexa ranking above and in addition paid traffic tested on a small scale first before following up with scaled up ads is the way to get what you desire. However if you are only selling from a website and not providing real value or addressing the needs and wants of others, then nothing will make you more or any money online no matter where your website is ranked.

Test and test again to find the best paid traffic because what will work for one niche might not do as well for another?

Hope you find success and do make more money but remember to recieve more first you need to give more value.

Steve's right. Only advertisers who don't fully understand their business focus mainly on Alexa rankings. Concentrate on providing targeted customers that increase their conversion rates, and your advertisers will happily pay you for it.

Hi Stephen and Jennifer,
Actually my personal observation with alexa is, if any pc installed with Alexa Tool bar opened your website(Directly or from google) it is counted as a unique hit, it's not matter whether the website is opened from same PC with IPs changed or from different PCS it is considered as a unique hit to the site which improves your Alexa Rank.

  This thread's from last year, and it's full of nonsense, too.
  
  When people aren't starting off new threads about this nonsense, they're bumping old ones. This stuff about my poor, useless, pathetic namesake seems to be asked about once a week, at the moment. For most people, most of the time, it's complete nonsense and doesn't help them at all.
  
  All it really measures is the number of visitors a site gets who have the Alexa Toolbar installed and running in their browser at the time of their visit. And internet marketers are just about the only people who use that.
  
  And even that, it can measure only terribly unreliably and randomly. Which is why it's a complete waste of time. They can't measure any other traffic. The only way to monitor traffic reliably is through a site's server logs.
  
  The last time I looked at my own "Alexa rankings", I checked out two of my sites. One, which is a private blog only really for my rather widespread family and gets almost no traffic at all, had a really low "Alexa ranking", meaning that they think it "gets enormous traffic" (but not according to my server logs!), and the other, which genuinely gets so much traffic, in floods, that I have to have special hosting for it, is apparently nowhere to be seen!
  
  It really IS as unreliable as that.
  
  But when you look at what it's actually measuring, that's not a great surprise.
  
  These things are of possible, slight, debatable relevance if you're (i) selling a website to someone who for some reason "believes in it", or (ii) selling advertising space on a website to someone who for some reason believes in it. For anyone else, and any other purposes, I think it's more or less a total waste of time, signifying nothing.
