Traffic needed to my site what am I doing wrong?

Hi all Warriors!

I own a dating site (white label) but it doesn't get a lot of traffic that converts visitors to paying members.

The niche of the site is Christian dating. I have ran some campaigns on Google AdWords which gave me 5 members last month. Since they have joined the site for free I don't earn any money on them.

There are different kind of paying membership levels for members, the cheapest starting at $19.9. Can I do anything except for keeping my Google AdWords campaigns running?

I have used Google Keyword Tool to optimize the relevant keywords for the site. The site is also multilingual. Can this be hurtful for my page rank? The members on my site are English-speaking members.

Are affiliates the best way to attract new paying members to the site or are there some other methods that I should try out first?

The site is in the Dating Factory-network as well as the TradeDoubler-network. There are some banners running but they haven't really made me any money. Maybe I should remove them if they spoil the over-all impression for the visitors?

I'm just a newbie asking for help and can only hope that someone on the forum doesn't find my questions to naïve or stupid to answer to.

You are welcome to have a look at the site for yourself if you want to. Click here to view it for yourself.

First off the only stupid question is the question never asked,

I am no marketing expert, the dating industry is huge, I presume this is a USA dating site, ppc can be expensive did you go after long tail keywords, which are a bit cheaper.

Looked at the site the black background might be a turn off, most dating sites have a nice color background, you are promoting Christianity God, love and dating how about a nice glory hole background the sun breaking through the clouds cascading lite upon the ground or even a couple or couple silhouette.

    Are you doing SEO?
how about solo ads, go to fiverr.com have a solo ad written then hire another fiverr to solo ad your ad out.

Like I said not an expert but this group has been good to me so I am trying to give back when I know something.

Response to mizesean: Thanks for sharing.

Response to kccan: Thanks for the input, I'll check the Net for similar backgrounds.
I haven't done much SEO but thanks for the hints.

General response to Everyone: Thanks to everyone that responded to my question.

To Danny Cutts: I will definitely check PPC courses, I'm currently running a Google AdWords-campaign with the help of the keywords found on my Affiliate Zone.

My Affiliate Zone (Note: banners are only provided at TradeDoubler/DatingFactory). Everything else except articles are available here. My website name is available in the previous post. Maybe I'll try fiverr later on for articles or should I try something else then?

Have you considered promoting using paid traffic, such as PPC, PPV, banner ads?

I think PPV can work for dating niches and take some popular urls as keywords, and the cost is low.

Banner ads can be great if you can find a good site to place them on.

I think you should try content marketing.

[1]Look for dating websites that you can guest post for. With a simple Google search you should be able to come up with a moderate list that you can create guest post for

[2]Blog commenting too. Write 5-20 guest posts everyday will build up over time an send you traffic

[3]If you try 1 and 2 and it doesn't work, then rank your website. Buy some seo softwares and create daily backlinks across different search terms that are related to your keywords. Within 30days time if you do it well you should start seeing some visitors from the search engines.

With this you wont need to spend money on Google Adwords again because by ranking for different terms you will start getting DAILY visitors from the search engine and from there you can worry about improving your conversion.

    I hope this helps

I think your biggest concern is that this is a saturated niche and there are millions of people using eharmony, blackpeoplemeet, christian mingle, etc. People trust those brands. What separates yours apart from the others?
